Seeing Chemung has lost its first ROC race how about the ROC run twin 61 lap mains at the race in August?? Start early make it a day, the fans have always supported the ROC very well and I'm sure they would this, just a idea I thought I'd throw out there!! I know there is a drive up crowd once the Xfinity race is over but the crowd just gets bigger for the ROC race every year, trash away race fans!!

I thought for a quick minute I would see a political free season at Chemung. Well that would just be to much to ask for starting with sealed motors being opened to inspect intakes, that run off 2 top modifieds now move on to this week with opened motors now having to be inspected because the track felt it had to tear down sealed motors with only 2 weeks left in the season that turned into a fiasco for the 94 car that never got their car back to the track just before qualifying races!! The racing has been excellent this year but with 2 weeks left the political machine has reared its ugly head at Chemung once again and potentially will end the season once again with a big black cloud over what once promised to be a great season at Chemung!! Very disappointed to see this happen once again!

Thanks to Ray Hodge and his wife for leasing Chemung guaranteeing racing at our little gem of a track in the southern tier. Congrats to Andy J on a good win and start to his ROC season!! and a shout out to Zack Curren running his B-mod to a second place finish!! The local racing season is off and running, come out and support your local tracks!!! 25 ROC modifieds started the race and the stands were full of fans, You could not ask for a better day of racing!!

Not quite sure what happened to this site but its pretty bad when you can't get on race discussion and post your opinion, there will always be opposing views when it comes to racing, always 2 sides to every story, so locking threads like mine have alto less to do with what you say is bickering between two factions which shows how much you really know, as it does someone that don't like negative PR and has bought you off also. Boy John White don't mind bringing on the controversy but can't stand the heat in the kitchen when it comes his way, Its nice to see that free speech is alive and well,  (NOT). well the fiasco called the Drome is over for another year anyhow. Its time for someone to open a true open forum that has no special interest!!!!!!!

Another Sat. nite at the drome and the most bias phony BS garbage i have ever seem to date at the miserable place. To steal a race from another competitor is the most disgusting thing i have seen down there yet!!!!!3 restarts all so you could get your Golden boy into victory lane when the race should have been over with the checkered and yellow falling at the same time for J. Kent is the most despicable thing i have ever seen!!!! you know it and everyone sitting in the stands knew it. What the F is it going to take for you lizards to understand  that the majority of fans are not there to root on the F'in Z-pack. You not only insult the intelligence of your patrons but totally disrespect the other competitors who put just as much time and money into there programs!!!!!!Your business depends on patrons for its support, no fans, no racing as the saying goes. when you treat your patrons as if they were fools how long do you think your business will last???? there can be all of the cars in the world but if you cant draw fans because you choose to disrespect the fans , no show!!!. Now back to my earlier post about tech. and how it was being done, Its all so amazing that what i said would happen did, the Woods kid in the bado class was the the only competition to the Z- kids, oh how handy to DQ him and run them out of the track. now onto the B-mods two of the most competitive cars being the Potroboski 72 and Jesse Kents 16 were both DQ,ed with the 72 not returning to the track the rest of the year, god damn how F'in handy. Brain trust of Chemung we see your underhanded BS and have just about seen enough of it, You as a business owner owe it to your fans to put on a fair and respected show for the people who make it possible for you to exist, or just don't bother, close the doors let someone respectable run the place. Usually businesses give back to there patrons not treat them like second  hand citizens, That was the most disgusting racing event i have ever attended!! Chemung you have sunk to a new Low!!!!!

Congrats on a nice job everyone, the weather held off, the racing was really good with nice car counts. The sport Mod race was excellent with T.Hanbury getting out of there with the win but not after many challenges from 3 or 4 different competitors who gave it there all only to fall by the wayside with mechanical issues late in the race. Z, Curren 2nd and J. Buckley 3rd. The Super stock race was won by B. Frisbee who's car was strong all day. A big thank you to the Sharpsteen family for putting so much effort into this event and I believe it all payed off in the end, it was a very nice way to end the racing season with a very good show. I will say Shang2 is just made for the Modifieds, fast, tight good racing all over the track, was a very enjoyable race to watch, til next season everyone.

Does anyone have any info that the ROC Mods will be giving out $2.00 off coupons at the local Dandy Mini marts like they did last year?? And I would like the brain trust at Chemung to answer this, 6 classes of racing that night, really guys, not on your best night would you get this show in by the curfew with a 100 lap ROC race even with the 7pm start time. Every time you have one of these special events you always run up against the curfew. I don't believe even if A.H. runs the whole show will you get it in before the curfew. Why is it that you never learn by past experience's. Are you telling me that the Badelaros can't run a double feature the week before?? It would be nice the night of the ROC race to have all of them up at the top of the hill for the fans to check out during that night of racing. The young kids would love it and then that would give you a little breathing room for the show that night. Mark my words right here, you will never get 6 classes of racing in before the curfew that night!!!! Whatever the price is will not matter, the people will pay it just to see the ROC mods run and will be very happy with 5 classes of racing especially if you could get the whole show in before curfew!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have any info on whats going on with the fall brawl at Shang 2 would like to plan our race season ending outing?? Are the ROC modifieds out of the show for sure and if so what is the alternative plan?? We would like to know so we can make alternative plans elsewhere if the brawl is not happening. Can someone with inside knowledge of whats going on at Shang 2 let people know what the plan is for the Fall Brawl or if the show is even still a go for that weekend?????

Racing Discussion / Chemung ( when the show runs long )
« on: June 14, 2015, 12:54:32 AM »
I have been to almost every race at Chemung for the past 3 or 4 yrs and every time there is some kind of special race it seems like the night goes on forever. The SS race on the June 13 was well worth the wait for a nice memorial tribute race. Its just seems as I got home at midnight with a very short ride and another feature shortened because of the curfew that there must be a way to move that show on at a better pace. So i go back and think about the whole night and everything that transpired and the one thing that hit me,  do I really enjoy watching 4,5,6 car heat races that always go on forever because of cautions and the time needed to regroup , no not at all, Why is it that the heat races cannot have 7 or 8 cars in them and maybe run a few extra laps in the heats but do away with maybe 3 ,4 or maybe even 5 heats that by the end of the night really add up to alot of wasted time. Now not being familiar with what ever format it is you use to determine how many cars your going to put in a heat race, is it really not possible to cut the number of heat races by just adding a few more cars into 2 heat races instead of making us sit through a 4 car heat race. In one of the heats Sat. there was only 3 cars left at the end, Really!!! Every week your show has 5 divisions of racing, enough for the most die hard of race fans, it just seems to me that it needs to move at a much better pace, I believe we the fans get are money's worth each and every week at Chemung, do I believe that most fans would still think they were getting the money's worth with a few less heat races, absolutely!!!!!!   Please the brain trust at Chemung don't get all up in arms, these are just one man's observations who is always there to support our local short track and want's nothing but the best for Chemung Speedway

If you have not heard Shang 2 will not race Sat June 13, per there web site which is now up and running In order to allow local drivers the Opp. to race in the Gary Marshall memorial race at the drome the Management at Shang 2 decided not to run their show out of respect for Marshall Family& Memorial race at the drome. I for one say very nice move Management at Shang 2. Now in my eyes that is the way to gain some respect from the local fans and that kind of move might get me back to Shang 2 which up to this point of racing season I have avoided. Cudo's to everyone for working this all out in a very respectful manner, Now its on to the races Sat. yea!!!!!!!!

It was nice to see Shang 2 in really nice shape for once, bathrooms, grass etc, The car counts were terrible , it all should have been a one day show. But my main concern for writing is about safety, If you were there you know how hard the hit was in turn 1 at the end of the Big 10 race. If that does not wake up the owner to get foam blocks completely around  all corners of that track I'm not sure what will. The speeds are fast at Shang 2 and there were lucky to hit what foam is left in that corner. I'm sure someone would have been hurt quite badly if not for the foam blocks, I was standing right by turn one when the accident happened and that was one of the hardest hits I have seen at Shang 2. everyone walked away, very lucky. But if the owner does not get those concrete walls in the corners covered with foam blocks I believe someone will get hurt badly there sooner or later!!!!!!!!
