1990 corvette heater core leak
« on: November 17, 2012, 05:36:32 PM »
I have coolant in the passenger compartment indicating a leaking heater core.

Can I still drive it if I keep the heat off? I plan on bypassing the heater core for now installing a connector between the two hoses...

just turning off the control won't stop the leak. the bypass method will or you can just plug the two hoses, whichever is easiest for you.

I had to buy a hose that is 1" to 3/4" molded and use a 3/4" to 5/8" adapter to bypass the heater core. Thought it was 3/4" to the expansion chamber.

Spent all day matching hoses...Thanks for the reply...

most are 5/8 and 3/4 size. the different sizes are usually the hardest thing to get around. thats why i usually go with the plugging of both hoses. it is easier to find 2 different size plugs than a 2 size connector.
