DUNDEE, N.Y. (Oct. 20) – Dale Schweikart led flag to flag to score the $400 win in round eight of the World Products Empire State Series for IMCA Modifieds at Black Rock Speedway on Saturday.

Schweikart drew the pole but his drive to the checkers wasn’t an easy one as he had constant pressure and had to overcome several early cautions.

The first four laps saw numerous yellows with the worst situation on lap two when second-running Dan Searls got lose in turn two. Searls corrected but the scramble behind him saw Matt Roberts and Gary Roberts finished for the night with damage.

Schweikart remained in command but Searls held on to second and pressured the leader over the distance, with point leader Eddie Sites in the catbird seat waiting for a mistake by either of the two.

Behind them, the race was on for fourth on back with George Fultz, Chris Fleming, Ryan Scott, Harry Ely and J.J. Courcy all battling for position. Schweikart stayed out front and when the checkers flew he had about a car length advantage to score his second career series win of the year, his first coming at Skyline Raceway in May.

Searls held on for second with Sites third, Fultz fourth and Scott fifth.

Schweikart also won the North Country Custom Rookie of the Race Award as both the first- and second-place finishers were rookies. First-year competitors have been a force at all the series races this year and this event was no different.

The MR Graphix Hard Charger award went to Sonny Terry, who raced from 24th to 11th. The random draw award went to 16th place finisher Brad Sites.

The next and final World Products Empire State Series event of 2012 will be Saturday, Oct. 27 at Five Mile Point Speedway in Kirkwood.
