Racing Discussion / Re: Evans Mills
« on: May 11, 2017, 12:04:25 AM »
I live quite near this track (within 20 miles) and go past it at times, due to shopping at LeRay Wal-Mart. Due to this, I knew the track was sold, but until I saw who it was here, that was all I knew. I remember seeing something about go-kart racing at the track. Three hours ago as I type this, I saw indication there's racing scheduled this weekend. I've never been to the track, actually, but I'd like to go sometime.

Racing Discussion / Re: NASCAR'S AT IT AGAIN

Some of you are unbelievable. You have one that references it to the NFL (the one that claims to be such a racing expert). What NASCAR is doing is something that most auto racing series of any structure implements. It's called a "podium" (or podium finish). The top three finishers are honored as a group (and interviewed), as well as the winner is individually. What Kyle Busch did was immature. Some of you are so use to rinky-dink, you don't see quality when it stares you in the face. Oh, by the way, even the Olympics has a podium (you don't suppose that might be where the podium or podium finish might have come from?). Now you know why I don't waste my time at any track in New York. I am allergic to rinky-dink. So my asphalt racing is in New England, and my dirt racing is in Pennsylvania. Jack Arutes' Stafford Motor Speedway and New London-Waterford Speedbowl (formally Jack Arutes Waterford Speedbowl) has the top three after every race honored and interviewed. Race Announcer is correct.
AAAAAAAAAAAAATCHOO! I'm allergic to football. I can handle rinky-dink, but I'm not anti-quality either.

I'm  a younger race fan, but I've been told the Evans Mills track was dirt once. Anyone ever go to it as a dirt track?

Don't even watch anymore.I love racing but Nascar is boring needs a grassroots kick it the a $$ to get it going again

You remind of some of my friends. Do you think more short tracks would make it less boring? And I've never seen a Cup road race on TV. It seems to me stock cars, being so much bigger than Indy and F1, would just be slow at road races. Maybe if FOX covered a road race or I could watch NBC, I'd get it. We don't have a roof antenna, just inside TV antenna and converter boxes. Perhaps I'll watch one online.  Btw, I'm a NASCAR reporter.

Off Topic Discussion / Do you like any sports outside motorsports?
« on: October 15, 2015, 04:28:02 PM »
When I was a kid, I had a sporty phase, as I call it. From about 7 until I was 10-11, I was a sports fan, primarily racing, basketball, baseball and football. In my early 20's, I got back into the first two, but not the others. It seems a significant number of race fans like other sports, too. Like my race fan friends and people on various race sites mention football, basketball or baseball teams they like.

(RACENY Notes: Since this weekend is the "unofficial" start of summer and the boost that's provided for those who claim to "support your local race track",  I took the time and effort to compile a list of NYS race tracks' schedule of the weekend's activities for tracks.  I tried to make the list all-inclusive and accurate but I'm quite sure there will be those who will point out omissions and event inaccuracies...but here goes! (As always, check the tracks' websites or even Facebook/Twitter sites for those that now have them or call the track(s) before venturing out)  All schedules and information here are subject to change.)

Will they honor the soldiers that died?  NASCAR will, so I wonder if the local tracks plan to.

The weekend is finally coming up and the weather looks perfect for racing.  If you are a fan of late model racing you will want to be there. Rumor has it at least 20 asphalt late models will be there and likely there will be more.  Racing starts at 6 and gates open at 3.  At just $10 general admission you can't go wrong.  Come see some of the best drivers in the Northeast and Canada race around the unique track that is Adirondack International Speedway.  Cars from PA have already been up to test and some drivers north of the border plan to be there too.  Some of the cars that will be there haven't been ran since the track closed years ago so if you want to see some new cars that you haven't seen before you will want to be there.  The first of 5 races of the Empire Late Model Series Championship will be held this Saturday May 23.  It's time for Screamin' In New Bremen.

For direction and more information go to the website.

Yes the NEMA show and the super sprint shows will be big but it will be hard to beat the July 4th show at adirondack.

- $1000.00 to win NYSS 51 Lap Tour Race
- $1000.00 to win Sunoco Mods [sportsman/sst] 50 Lap Race
- Spencer/Chemung/Holland 4 Cylinder 20 Lap Race

It all depends what you would rather watch as a fan.  They both have roughly the same car counts.  Adirondack has a few more super stocks, trucks and sport compacts.  Evans Mills has more thunder stocks and they have the legends.  They have about the same junior thunder stock count.  If you want to watch some different races then I would go to Adirondack but look at the schedule first.  They have the Mid-State Vintage Racing Club there this week and next week is the start of the Late Model races.  Rumor has it they are expect about 20 late models but that is just a rumor.  Later in the year they have the the Chris Typhair memorial race and they close the year out with an open super stock race. They also are having the
Toth Enterprise Night/Westward Painting Kevin Ward Jr. Truck Special in June.

I just wanted to see what the gang here had to say. I appreciate the advice. Just wanted to know how they compare.  Based on what you and Groundpounder said, it's a matter of taste. Guess if he's still interested next year, he'll just have to see which one he prefers. And same goes for me should I get a chance to go. If I'm able to get my own car or can go with a friend,  that's another way I could get to a track. Btw, I actually know the AIS owner somewhat.

These are the closest race tracks to where I live. My dad wants to retire next year and has talked about going to races then. Which track is better?

I could go to this track if I had someone to take me and pay for me to get in. I don't have my own car or a job. Trying to get work, though.

12
yes it is
I called Greg Moore. They'll keep me in mind if an opening comes up.

13
I am not affiliated with the track either just a fan of adirondack international speedway.  Im sure if you joined their Facebook page "AIS Track Talk" someone could help you there.
I'll go check out that page. Is it a group? I saw a group with that name.

14
If they could use me in some capacity, I may be working at this track, sweeping the stands or whatever I could do.

15
I'm a race fan that leaves near this track. Though I've never been to it, I've driven past the road it's on. I wonder will NASCAR return? When I was in college, 4th tier NASCAR had a race at AIS every year. If not this year, maybe another year, they will be back. I  once saw somewhere they wanted to return if the track reopened.
