Racing Discussion / COVID-19 Shut in relief in-car racing video
« on: April 02, 2020, 07:55:04 AM »
With everyone in isolation and racing season delayed here's a video from a couple years ago to help relieve the boredom. We went into this final race of the season tied for first in the points with Stevie Hartman III #15. No matter where we finished whoever beat the other was going to be champion. The pressure was on and I bare avoid disaster three times. If you look at the red light on the dash I locked the brakes and stalled the engine all three times heading into accidents and luckily it refired every time! Enjoy!!!

Will there be general admission seats available on the front stretch Sunday? There's still a back stretch grandstand as well?

https://youtu.be/ZPFK_RkKYSU crate sportsman in-car from thunder mnt. Decent run from 9th but not what we needed in the point battle.

Last weeks Green to checkers run at Thunder Mountain in the one-two-three 602 Crate Sportsman. I was coming on but Hammond was long gone before I got to second and with no cautions my only hope was for him to have trouble.

Racing Discussion / Late Crate feature from Thunder Mountain w/crash
« on: July 14, 2019, 09:13:27 PM »

https://youtu.be/7QSsQRN_rp0   Was fast but crashed early. Lots of passing and close racing with plenty detailed looks at #25 Pat Jordan's left side bodywork!

We knew passing would be difficult as this was going to be the first race after hot laps. We went a bit wrong with our set-up putting closer to a heat race set up under the car and that hurt us near the end of the race. Got up as far as 6th but the engine was getting toward the hot side and seems to lay down a bit the last two laps.laps. Many teams had issues with heating this night apparently due to the humidity and barometric pressure. We switched to our bigger fan and the engine ran cool and strong the rest of the night. It felt like we needed more gear but we were at the track maximum so couldn't do anything about that! https://youtu.be/xtD3kbcV_

Pretty good run from 8th starting spot

We had a great opportunity by redrawing up front but this new chassis has been a bit tighter so we freed the car up to carry more speed. Bad mistake...it was too loose! Got lucky when we got turned around as the caution was just flying for another incident so they determined the caution was already out so we got our spot back. But I just had to wait too long to get the power down so we slid back a bit. But not a bad finish in a full field of strong contenders!

Our In-car footage from the feature at Thunder Mountain last Saturday night. We were a bit too tight and the bumps were upsetting the chassis but a pretty good run with the Hig-Fab chassis which we are still learning.

Racing Discussion / relieve snow-out boredom in-car video

This is the Turbo Blue Crate Sportsman race from Skyline a couple years ago. One of those races where you shouldn't win but you do. Watch for the big accident between Fink & Smith with two go. I got a piece of it but made my way through with enough car left to hang on!

Here's my in-car video action from opening night at Outlaw Speedway last Saturday. We won our heat but missed the set-up for the blacked over track in the feature. I should have been in survival mode early in the feature but I thought maybe I could gain a few positions while everyone was jammed up and it bit me when I had to check up and locked the rear brakes and lost it. Mostly cosmetic damage but could not get a hold of the track when I came back out. finished 16th when the official order was posted. Enjoy!

Racing Discussion / DONNA EDWARDS lover of racing passes
« on: February 28, 2019, 11:29:00 PM »
I just want all the RaceNY community know that Donna Edwards, long time lover of racing in general and especially dirt track racing has passed. she was my companion for nearly twenty years and courageously battled cancer for the past 12 months. Her steadfast support of my racing was a huge factor in my success. even though she could not come out to the track the last couple seasons she would always send me out the door to our race with the following admonishment; " Be Carefull........and KICK a ss!" I often told her those two don't usually go together but she was unfazed. Before she left us I gave her those same instructions for her mysterious journey. she was truly One of a Kind! Her calling hours will be 2 to 4PM at Walter J Kent funeral home in Elmira, NY.  thank You!   DALE WELTY #123 & 9x

Obituary of Donna Edwards
EDWARDS, Donna J.

Montour Falls, NY. She was born February 28, 1946 in Elmira, daughter of the late A. Reeve and Evelyn (Quigley) Edwards and passed away peacefully in her home after a courageous battle with cancer, Sunday, February 24, 2019. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Joseph Edwards. She is survived by her longtime partner Dale Welty; birth children Michele Wood-Knott (Mike) and Beth Kwasnowski-McKaig (Fred); siblings Richard & Bonnie Edwards of Palmyra, VA, Jeri Edwards of Elmira, Jeanette Wright of Millerton, PA, James & Kate Edwards of Elmira, Steve & Trina Edwards of Temple, TX and Nina Byford of McGregor, TX; Dale's brother and sister Darrell Welty of Elmira heights and Vicky Santarone of Challis, ID; Dale's daughter and son Kelly Buttery (Jeremy) of El Paso, TX and Craig Welty of St. helens, OR along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Donna had previously worked at Powers Mfg and Trayer Products in Elmira and stayed close to the friends she made there. She was a notorious night-hawk who loved to stay up late playing cards and Yahtzee. She was an expert euchre and canasta player; liked to dance and listen to area bands. Donna loved NASCAR racing and was a huge fan of area dirt track racing where she would cheer on her beloved companion, Dale. She had a great sense of humor and was loved by many. She lived in the Lone Star state for a number of years. If someone crossed her, she would good naturedly jerk her thumb at herself and say "Hey, don't mess with Texas". Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Saturday, March 2nd from 2 to 4 pm. Her memorial service will follow at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Donna through donations to your local animal shelter. Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Corning Guthrie Cancer Center for taking such good care of her during her struggle.
