FRIENDS OF RACING POST BONUSES FOR 31ST ANNUAL TRIBUTE TO TOMMY DRUAR AND TONY JANKOWIAK EVENT

- Howard Markel, Bob Woch and Old Man Engineering Post Awards for Saturday, August 15, 2020 -

North East, Pennsylvania – (July 31, 2020) –  Several friends of auto-racing have confirmed that they will post awards for the 31st Annual Tribute to Tommy Druar and Tony Jankowiak event being held at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania on Saturday, August 15.

Former track official and FOAR (Friends of Auto-Racing) Score Club president, Howard Markel, who resides in Pennsylvania is a huge Modified racing enthusiast and has quietly posted a bonus for this event for many years now. The leader of the 110-lap Modified feature at lap 37 will receive $370 and the leader at lap 73 will receive $730. It is just one of many contributions Markel has made in the sport for many years.

Bob Woch of Alden, N.Y., and Old Man Engineering have posted $200 in bonuses for the Race of Champions Four Cylinder Dash Series event at Lake Erie. The race which will be 37-laps will pay $337.73-to-the winner. There will be a $50 hard luck award. A $50 hard charger award. A $50 bonus to the leader at halfway and a $50 bonus to the 10th place finisher in the race.

Advance tickets and camping spaces are on sale and moving for the 31st Annual Tribute to Tommy Druar / Tony Jankowiak 110 at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa., on Saturday, August 15, 2020. The Race of Champions Super Stock Series and Race of Champions Street Stock Series, will also  race in 37-lap features.

Masks or facial coverings will be required (when you are within 6 feet of anyone) and social distancing will be practiced due to state and county established restrictions due to COVID-19 as Erie County Pennsylvania remains in the “green” phase of the state’s reopening plan.

Phased reopening in all states varies based on the guidelines set forth by local, regional and state authorities. Current regulations and restrictions (no live audiences/fans) are permitted in New York State and it is not financially feasible for many speedways and series, including the Race of Champions to conduct racing events at various speedways.

All Race of Champions events that are run will follow all guidelines as set forth by any authority (local, regional, state or federal) including the CDC.

The Race of Champions will continue to utilize their contactless points of purchase, membership and event registration which was introduced at the June 26 and 27 events at Lake Erie Speedway.
