Anyone watch the new Bowman Gray reboot? I liked the first episode. Anytime you can watch modifieds on TV, in any capacity, it's a win.

Jon Mckennedy wins in Tommy Baldwin's car. Jimmy Blewett 2nd filling in for Ryan Preeces. 3rd Matt Hirschman, 4th Chase Dowling, 5th Justin Bonsignore.

Interesting how the LFR cars were all fast early to middle of the race, then the Troyers chased them down and got the top 3 in the end.

RIP buddy. Jim died yesterday of an apparent heart attack. Jim was a great friend, racer, and most importantly father. Jim raced his #26 sport mod all over western NY. The past few years he has been slowly transitioning from driver to father/crewchief for his boy's in go karts and now 4 cylinder cars. You'll be dearly missed by many, God speed buddy.

Racing Discussion / Bristol baby!!
« on: August 21, 2014, 10:01:44 AM »
I was at Bristol for the mod race yesterday. I am not exaggerating in the least when I say this may have been one of the best modified races I have ever seen. I have been following the mods since the 70's. The top 8 to 12 cars were in a pack the entire race and passing was going on every corner of every lap. Patrick Emerling was the highest finishing ROC driver, he started 23 and finished 8. Jimmy Zacharias finished 10th. These two ran together the whole race and were fun to watch come to the front. Matt Hircshman was in fast but involved in the first caution. I couldn't see what happened from in the pits, but know he got a flat tire and pitted several times after that. He finished on towards the lower end of the finishing order. I've got lots of pics i will try to post later. If you get Fox sports 1, I highly suggest tuning in when the air this race. I believe it will be on August 31st. Oh yeah, a big congrats to Tommy Barrett Jr. on the win.

Are there any tracks racing on this day within a 3 hour drive of Buffalo? Either dirt or asphalt? The only track I know of is Utica-Rome. Any help would be appreciated.

Racing Discussion / I wonder what Lynda thinks of this??
« on: October 30, 2013, 11:55:19 AM »
From Jayski:

Twisted Tea to sponsor Ambrose in 2014 race: Richard Petty Motorsports announced the company will partner with the Twisted Tea Brewing Company on its #9 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Ford team beginning in 2014. The hard iced tea brewer will be an associate sponsor of the car driven by two-time Cup Series winner Marcos Ambrose during the 2014 season. In addition, Twisted Tea will serve as a primary sponsor of the team at Dover International Speedway during the fall race event. Twisted Tea offers hard iced tea in eight flavors, all brewed to taste like real iced tea. Its logo will appear on the roof position of the #9 Ford for 18 events in 2014 along with the primary sponsorship at Dover. Ambrose will be entering his fourth year with RPM and the #9 race team in 2014. Since coming to the United States from Australia, the driver has proven to be a winner on the track and one of the sport's most popular and likeable personalities.(RPM), see images of the car n the #9 team paint schemes page.(10-30-2013)

I thought the Petty's would not allow alcohol sponsors anywhere near their cars? For years you would never see a Petty owned car in the Busch Clash or Bud Shootout because Richard Petty would not allow stickers from companies selling alcohol to be put on his cars. It was always said that it was Richards promise to his wife Lynda to not allow alcohol related sponsors, or maybe it was his mother. I guess desperate times call for desperate measures. I understand too that Petty is really just a figure head at RPM and others actually make these call now.

Racing Discussion / Matt Kurzejewski gets Camping World Truck ride
« on: March 14, 2013, 03:37:54 PM »

From Jayski:

Kurzejewski moving to trucks: On the heels of a top-10 finish in the ARCA Racing Series opener last month, Mansfield's Matt Kurzejewski is expanding his plans to include competing in some Camping World Truck Series events. The 21-year-old second-generation driver said Wednesday he will do "a handful" of Truck Series races this year along with a few more ARCA events. He said he could make his Truck Series debut as soon as the May 17 North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Kurzejewski will reunite with former ARCA champion Bob Keselowski, who proposed the Truck Series deal and will serve as the crew chief. Details are still being worked out but the newly-formed Truck Series that has yet to come up with a name. The team will work out of a Mooresville, N.C-based shop owned by current Sprint Cup Champion Brad Keselowski. Bob Keselowski, who is Brad's father, will be joined by his brother, Ron, on the new Truck Series project with Kurzejewski. Ron Keselowski will act as car chief. Kurzejewski said he'll race the trucks at events on 1.5-mile tracks. He said he hopes to be able to run on the Iowa, Pocono, and Texas tracks, to name a few. (Ithaca Journal Online)(3-13-2013)

Good for him, I hope he has decent equipment that can run up front.

Racing Discussion / Need some good races to go to week of 6/30 - 7/7
« on: June 25, 2012, 03:34:16 PM »
I will be in WNY on 6/30 for the ROC at Holland and will be staying through 7/7 for the sport mod 100 at DTRP. I just read that Shangrila 2 is running on Thursday 7/5, so I am going to try and make that show too. Any other tracks running Sunday 7/1 through Friday 7/6 that I would be interested in seeing. Dirt or pavement, preferrably a modified or late model of some kind. Any input would be appreciated.
