It will be $15 person at the back gate for practice. Fuel will also be available for purchase. Tires - Bob Mullen will have Sportsman and Street Stock tires available at the track that day. Sportsman teams will be able to purchase four, which will count towards your initial 12 tires to start the season, Sportsman teams can buy ONLY FOUR new ones directly from Bob at East Coast Speed in Batavia the week before the practice, which count towards the initial 12 to start the season, as well.
The Scott Perry Auction is taking place that day, but the auction part will be done before we hit the track. Concession Stands will be open for the auction and consignment during the day, and will remain open for any fans that want to come out and watch practice.
For teams entering the back gate for practice, remain in your vehicle and we will process you in a "drive-thru" style to see how it goes to possibly utilize in the future. Trailer doors will be asked to be opened, so you know ahead of time

EMERLING, WILSON, WYLIE & BARTEL WIN AT LANCASTER

LANCASTER, N.Y. (June 4, 2016) – Lancaster National Speedway’s stock car program returned to action on Saturday following a week off for the Memorial Day holiday. Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y. picked up his third-straight win of the season in the Sunoco Sportsman. Dave Wilson of Hamburg, N.Y. earned his second-straight win in the Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks. Jake Wylie of Blasdell, N.Y. scored his second win of the season at Lancaster in the Race of Champions Big 10 Super Stocks. Rich Bartel of Depew, N.Y. was declared the winner of the Roaming Buffalo 4-Cylinder feature.

Sherri Hogan and Tommy Catalano led the 17-car Sunoco Sportsman field to the initial green flag for the 35-lap feature. A couple of cautions slowed the opening the laps of the race before the leaders settled in for a long green flag run. Catalano took command of the field with Billy Burd and Patrick Emerling eventually moving into second and third place.

The trio of Catalano, Burd and Emerling took off from the pack as the race neared the halfway point. They ran nose-to-tail until the caution flew on lap 25 for a spin by Owen Bednasz. Catalano and Burd lined up on the front row for the restart with Burd stealing the lead from the outside pole. Burd then survived three more late race restarts to cross the finish line first.

In post-race inspection Burd and third place finisher, Neal Dietz, Jr., were disqualified. This handed Emerling his third Sunoco Sportsman win in a row. Kevin Miller, who flew up from Mooresville, N.C. to race, finished second. Amy Catalano, Tommy Catalano and Sherri Hogan rounded out the top five.

The Advance Auto Parts Street Stock feature had a similar theme with three cars pulling away from the field. Pole sitter Dennis Londos led from the drop of the green flag with Dave Wilson and Mark Hoch hooking up with Londos in a three-car breakaway. Wilson passed Londos for the lead on lap 18 and held on for the final seven laps to get his second win in a row.

Jake Wylie picked up his second win in a row at Lancaster in the Race of Champions Big 10 Super Stocks. Wylie started on the pole and led all 30 laps in the feature. He faced challenges from Tommy Krawczyk and Tim Gullo along the way, but Wylie could not be beat. Krawczyk and Gullo had to settle for second and third, followed by Ryan Lagoda and Joe Mancuso.

Rich Bartel was declared the winner of the Roaming Buffalo 4-Cylinder feature after initial winner Tim Durfy was disqualified in post-race inspection. Third place finisher Kevin Bainbridge was also disqualified for failing tech.

Lancaster’s next stock car event is Saturday, June 18 with the Joe Reilly Memorial Sportsman Summer Slam 75 as the Sunoco Sportsman will do battle in their longest race of the season. The Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks, Roaming Buffalo 4-Cylinders and NYPA TQ Midgets will join the race program that night.

NORTH EAST, PA – Lake Erie Speedway is set to welcome back the thunder of the ground-pounding Ferris Mowers Race of Champions Modified Series on Saturday, June 11 for the Farmers Insurance/The Stewart Agency 75 presented by Jim Moss Builders.

The Race of Champions Modifieds will make their first appearance at Lake Erie Speedway since 2005. Billy Putney of East Aurora, N.Y. bested a field of 23 cars on July 23, 2005 to claim victory in the series’ only visit to LES.

260 51 network ad“We are excited to bring this type of Modified racing back to Lake Erie Speedway,” said A.J. Moore, Operations Manager. “The Race of Champions Modified Series has a devoted fan base that will be eager to check out our facility plus local race fans will enjoy the thrilling side-by-side competition the RoC Series is known for.”

The RoC Modified Series competes on short tracks across New York and Pennsylvania. The Farmers Insurance/The Stewart Agency 75 presented by Jim Moss Builders will be the sixth stop on the series’ 14-race 2016 schedule. The open-wheeled race cars are powered by 358-cubic inch, V8 engines that generate over 600 horsepower, and they race on 15-inch Hoosier Racing Tires.

Leading the charge for the RoC Modified Series will be seven-time and defending series champion, Matt Hirschman of Northampton, PA. Hirschman finished tenth in the 2005 event. Since that day he has gone on to earn the nickname of “Big Money Matt” for his ability to win some of the most prestigious and highest-paying Modified races in the Northeast.

The Hirschman family has visited victory lane at Lake Erie Speedway in the past. Matt’s father, Tony Hirschman, won a NASCAR Modified Tour race at LES in 2004. Matt’s brother, Tony Hirschman III, is the spotter for NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch.

One of the drivers looking to challenge Hirschman will be three-time series champion, Chuck “The Hotshoe” Hossfeld of Ransomville, N.Y. Hossfeld did not compete in the 2005 RoC Series event at Lake Erie, but he did record top ten finishes in both NASCAR Modified Tour events held at LES in 2003 and 2004.

A pair of former Lake Erie Speedway Late Model track champions will also likely be in the field for the Farmers Insurance/The Stewart Agency 75 on June 11.

2012 Late Model track champion, George Skora III of Eden, N.Y. and 2008-2010 Late Model champ Will Thomas of Sharpsville, PA have both recently made the transition to the open-wheeled Modifieds.

After Skora won his championship in 2012 he returned to Western New York where he raced Sportsman Modifieds before making his Race of Champions Modified Series debut in 2014. Thomas made the switch to racing on dirt and has had success driving Late Models and E-Modifieds in Pennsylvania and Ohio. He acquired a RoC Modified late last season after getting the itch to run on pavement again. Both drivers will look to use their extensive knowledge of Lake Erie’s 3/8-mile oval as an advantage over the competition.

The support divisions for the Farmers Insurance/The Stewart Agency 75 presented by Jim Moss Builders will include a $1,000-to-win U.S. Legends Car National Qualifier for the Xtreme Racing Series plus the NYPA TQ Midget Association and the Lucas Oil Can-Am TQ Midget Series.

Pre-sale tickets for the Farmers Insurance/The Stewart Agency 75 presented by Jim Moss Builders are now available on the Lake Erie Speedway website. Adult general admission tickets are just $15; children 6-12 years old are $10 and five and under are free. Pre-sale reserved seating tickets are available for $30. All pre-sale tickets are subject to a processing fee.

Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. on June 11 with heat racing starting at 6 p.m. followed by the feature events at 7 p.m.
