Title: MAV TV and SPECTRUM IN Western NY
Post by: Fran on April 09, 2018, 05:23:30 PM
I just called MAV TVs Head Office today and inquired as to why Spectrum in does not carry MAV TV in the Buffalo and Western NY market. They told me "SPECTRUM SHOULD BE CARRYING THEIR PRODUCT IN THIS MARKET AREA" In other areas MAV TV  is located on Ch 402 and it should be located there as reserved in WNY. They told me they will inquire as to why it is not being carried in WNY and they will let me know within 48 hrs.

WHEN THEY CALL I WILL PASS ALONG THEIR RESU;TS OF THEIR FINDINGS.

I WANT MY MAV TV!!!

I've been calling and asking why they don't carry it in Rochester and they just say it's not available. I know they get it in Fulton and Oswego

According to their Rochester area channel guide--Rochester does not have it; not even as a premium channel!

Your right and that is what the MAV TV Rep said is wrong. MAV TV is supposed to part of the package and that is what hes looking into and why its not.

In my experience, negotiations take place between channels and the cable companies as to what amount of money needs to be exchanged to insert channels into their lineup.

Back when they were Time Warner they sent out a channel guide showing MAV TV but it never materialized...

I believe that cable companies are NOT permitted bu the FCC to offer "a-la carte" packages (or pay only for what you want)--I'm not sure but I think "satellite" providers have similar restrictions...

I'm in Buffalo and we don't get MAV TV. I think the Chili Bowl is on the channel. What other racing events are on MAV TV?

I just called as of 12:45 EST and the Gentleman ED told me he was in contact with Spectrum Monday almost instantly and hoped for the Network would respond  positively with results. While on with him, I checked ch 402 where it’s reserved and it sent me to 403 Velocity. From there he said there maybe Technical issues currently. He told me he would contact them again immediately and find out what’s going on and once again he would give me a phone call sometime today.

He did re-iterate that this network should be on it in all of Western New York and he was going to see into why it isn’t currently. Also I want to thank everybody for the responses and I hope it works to everybody’s favor THANKYOU🏁🏁

Since we did the first MAVTV shows at Weedsport I've been trying to get Tiime Warner/Spectrrum to cary it on their selection available for WNY and the Finger Lakes region. Phone calls have not worked with either the cable companies or MAV. Sure would like to see the programs that we are involved with producing for them. I know you can watch them on Speed Sport but not the same as using the cable system for the events. Tks Fran for your efforts in trying to retify the issue, lets hope that something comes of it.

Dish dropped mavtv about a year ago, said they couldn't come up with a agreed price.if you have Dish, please call their customer hotline and tell them you want Mavtv back. They said if enough people call, they reevaluate their decision.

Glad to see our Buffalo fans are getting MAV...now the Finger Lakes (Rochester) needs to get it on, I'll pay for it as part of a tier if I need to, what's an extra few bucks a month for quality racing coverage?
