manual trans question
« on: July 04, 2012, 10:24:05 AM »
I have a 1994 mitsubishi eclipse....1.8L 5-speed.....So I just put a trans in it with a new clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder and then of course the used tranny. Well, I was driving down the thruway yesterday and it popped out of 5th gear, so I put it back in 5th gear and it popped out again and wont go back in and the car wont go into reverse now.....the nut on the end of the shaft is tight as well so its not that....the linkage Ive messed with alot and everything ive tried there doesnt change anything....I have no idea what it could be.

There is something wrong internally with your transmission from the sounds of it.

I cant manually put the transmission into reverse with the levers on the tranny. Just wont. I can get it into 5th manually on the trans but when I get off the clutch...nothing...just grinding....aggravating....syncros went bad ya think and then tore stuff up?
