He leaves behind his wife Joanie, son Rusty, daughter Jill and their families. My condolences to all of you. The suffering is over and he's in a better place now. Red was a dear family friend and I will always be grateful for knowing him. Rusty told me they are in the process of making funeral arrangements and will let everyone know when completed.   Godspeed "Red"

Racing Discussion / Thank You Andrew Harpell

Bashers please move on.

This is a bit overdue. On behalf of the Donahue family I would like to thank Andrew, the Heath family, and the Harpell family for a memorable night at 5 Mile Point Speedway. It was an honor for me to accept the recognition of my dad "Irish Joe Donahue" on the running of the 50th Irv Heath Memorial. I'm sure he would be proud of his sign on the backstretch wall. It was a perfect afternoon and evening. The weather, the Gary's U Pull It - Don's Automotive Mall chicken barbecue, and the racing couldn't have been better. For me it was topped off with Irv and Anna's great grandson Tanner winning the Imca feature, Mike winning the modified feature, and seeing one of my favorites Bob MacGeorge.
It's hard to believe that the Irv Heath Memorial is 50 years old. It got me to thinking. I grew up two doors from the Harpell's right down the street from the race track. We raced bikes, played football, baseball or any other normal things kids do. My dad took them to the races with us and I'm proud to call them friends. I haven't always agreed with everything they do but there is a lot to be said for a speedway built in 1951 and still running in the same family. GET TO THE POINT

Pete was a great guy and I was blessed to have him as a friend. He left us way to soon and will be missed by anyone that knew him. His years of dedication to my racing career as a crew chief and car owner will never be forgotten. Rest in peace brother. Condolences to Tammy and Jay. Calling hours are from 10 to 12 tomorrow morning followed by the funeral at Allen's Funeral Home, Main Street, Endicott
