MEDIA RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 3-6-16 HOLLAND NASCAR MOTORSPORTS COMPLEX

Holland Speedway Hosts Registration Party

HOLLAND, NY… The 57th season opener is nearly two months away, but the anticipation for the 2016 campaign was building at the annual registration party, held on Sunday at the Holland Willows.

As part of the registration party, drivers signed up for the upcoming car shows at the Eastern Hills Mall (April 30-May 5) and at McKinley Mall (May 7-13) as well as reserved pit pads and registered their car numbers in their respective divisions as well as purchasing Priority Gold passes and receive the rule books.

The Getzoni Nationwide Insurance NASCAR Pro Chargers will be seeing defending champion Tom Northem will be defending his title. Standing in Northem’s way will be his son Max, who will be entering his sophomore season behind the wheel. 2016 will also see the return of Rich Carnes, “The Big Show” Ted Welshans as well as his brothers Tim and Nik.  Drivers running in the Charger division will be competing for a point fund of over $10,000 that will be handed out at seasons end. Charger drivers will also be competing for State and National points and the champion will be honored at the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Banquet in Charlotte, NC in front of the national NASCAR media.

The Bank of Holland Hornets will see the Dice Racing Team try to defend the title that Jeff Szafraniec won in 2015. Szafraniec will also be dabbling with a Charger in the second half of the season. Dice Racing teammates Ben Russo, Bob and Butcher Palmer will all be returning to the highbanks in 2016. Josh Hill, Kathie Ricketson and John Blinston will be joined by the racing sisters of Michele and Nikki Maltby as well as defending M&M U Pull-It Figure 8 Champion Jason Adams who will be returning to the oval this season. Nikki Maltby is a graduate of the Rookie 4 division.

The NYPA TQ Midgets, INEX Legends, M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s and the Rookie 4’s will also be seeing some changes as drivers continue to move up and or get into the sport for the first time ever. All drivers will have the opportunity to go onto the track for the first time during the “Preseason Thunder” practice session on Saturday May 21st from 12-4pm.

The newest touring series that will be competing on the historic highbanks will be the Canadian Outlaw Midgets. The Canadian Outlaw Midgets will be on the competitive 3/8th’s oval on Saturday June 25th and July 23rd. The Canadian Outlaw Midgets will be coming to the “other side of the border” with the support of the speedway’s newest media partner, Country 89 out of Welland, Ontario. Country 89 can be heard throughout the Niagara Frontier and Southern Ontario and will be giving away tickets, special event offers and more throughout the season. As part of this two-race series, Holland Speedway will be taking Canadian Dollar at PAR (with proper ID) towards the cost of admission on both of these race dates (cash only).

As part of the 57th season opener, set for Saturday May 28th, Holland will be having our very first NASCAR Hometown Hero night on May 28th will recognize our drivers from Lackawanna, Gowanda, Hamburg, Irving, and Angola.  Drivers from these towns will be announced prior to their specific division’s race, and will be photographed together following the full event’s conclusion.
