I read an article that stated Syracuse had 14,000 seats and Oswego had 12,000 seats. They will also have the grass area or seating (bring your own)

(if you count up all the days and people at the facility each day then the number is reachable)

I would guess the might be estimating attendance for the week. (not sure how they calculate that) . I searched and found this link that has some stats for SDW. It shows in the late 1990's an estimated attendance in the ranges of 120,000 - 140,000.

JMO - every race car should have this as standard equipment.   Before you say it is too much for low budget or any team I will ask you what costs less?

Fire suppression system
Helo flight to trauma center
Skin graft
Funeral

That article states the grant will pay for upgrades to those stands.

I long for the days of rotary dial phone and wall mount pay phones.  A lot more relaxed in those days.  ;D

I chuckle - do you see the irony in that. Stuck in the 90's with communication of old but everyone is hollerin' to go back to the days of yore with racing.

JMO. I think Jon is just venting some.  Pretty certain he loves racing as much or more than the next guy and would love to go more often. He has bent over many times to help promote racing at local tracks with pushing and collecting lap money for races, etc. So you can't say he doesn't put out a huge effort in promoting local racing for basically nothing. Should have more people like him out there and it would be nice to see tracks sometimes help out with some of their best fans.

Thanks to Steven Ovens for giving the synopsis of the update, and the audio cuts. Much appreciated.

There is no way he can hold an event utilizing portable restrooms for that many people. The powers that be need to listen to the ideas that have been presented to them by teams, track owners, drivers, and their own staff members. It is not disrespectful to say that Oswego would be too financially over the top to have a major event there for dirt cars. And if the State is the one responsible for the clay being put down, maintained, and removed and the track repaved, the event won't happen, because all funding from the State is on lock down at least until September while the Governor and his cronies are under investigation.

Curiously, was there a question and answer session? And, if so, did anyone ask about his involvement with Rolling Wheels Raceway Park? He was rumored to have put in an offer of purchase, but the asking price was too exhorbitant. Then he was rumored to have leased the property (came from someone who talks to him regularly), which set us back on track for some events there. Now I am being told by two employees of DIRTcar that THAT deal is off, because he couldn't deal with the parameters, including being forced to run it with another party. Which means a bastion of dirt racing in Central New York is still at risk for becoming a strip mall.

Again, the information is most appreciated, and my comments are meant to open a discussion, not being snarky in any way. I cannot tell you how much of the night was spent in discussion about this topic, but I have the bulk of the Super DIRTcar Series in competition on Saturday's, and it is something we all talk about frequently. Teams WANT to run at established tracks, and even running Monday through Sunday is more appealing to them than a haphazardly put together event. I think that WRG really needs to listen to outside ideas before they make a decision.

CNYRP and Watkins are like night and day, but I have watched many years where Watkins Glen has turned from a coyote howling night of empty fields to a city of over 100K people in a matter of days.  No *****. Seen i t lived it.   If the will is there it can be down. "IF"   But I am starting to believe the naysayers.

ROONEY ROMPS TO CLASH OF THE CRATES VICTORY AT PENN CAN; KENNEDY, COLE AND WOLF ALSO CLAIM WINS ON TUESDAY NIGHT

SUSQUEHANNA, PA…Paul Rooney represented his home track on Tuesday by winning the Clash of the Crates for the STAR/GRIT Series 602 Crate Sportsman at Penn Can Speedway. Nick Kennedy and Matt Cole also claimed STAR Series wins, with Shane Wolf, Jr. claiming the Street Stock win.
A strong 36 car field of 602 Crate Sportsman was on hand for the combination STAR/GRIT Series race on Tuesday night. Rooney raced to the heat win and drew the outside pole for the 30 lap feature grind. Rooney was strong all night as he raced past Donnie Lawson at the drop of the green to charge into the lead. Lawson stayed with him early but was soon challenged by Casey Pavlick.
With Rooney out front, the race for second raged on behind him. Pavlick raced past Lawson for second on lap 11 and Marty Bunker started making his move to the front. While these drivers were racing hard up front, many eyes were on the hard charging Dale Welty, who started 21st and was moving to the front with a head of steam.
Bunker took over third on lap 14 and then blasted past Pavlick on the outside for second just five laps later. The final 14 laps went caution free and while Bunker was able to stay close, he had nothing for the high flying Rooney on this night. Rooney would maintain his lead and he took the checkered flag and the $1,000 that went with it.
Bunker was second ahead of Pavlick, Lawson and Welty, who advanced 16 positions to crack the top five at the finish. Sixth through tenth went to Brad Weaver, Dustin Jordan, Rocky Warner, Tommy Collins, Jr. and Jim Houseworth.
In the STAR Series Four Cylinder 20 lap feature it was Nick Kennedy taking the lead at the outset with Phil Burns right on his bumper. Meanwhile 14th starting Matt McKernan and ninth starting Frank Kennedy, Nick’s brother, were on the move. Frank Kennedy moved into the runnerup spot on lap seven with McKernan right behind him in third.
The red flag flew on lap 14 when Gary Cleveland barrel rolled his car in turn four. Cleveland was not injured and racing resumed. Over the final the Kennedy brothers led the way with Nick holding off Frank for the win. McKernan came home third with 11th starting Burt Maynard fourth and Codie Baker rounding out the top five. Sixth through tenth went to Dave Simms, Josh Wilder, Adam Gilbert, Don Doster, Jr. and Burns.
Matt Cole went wire to wire in the STAR Series IMCA Style Modified feature. Cole was followed closely by William Ward and James Cornell, who came from the back after pitting on lap four. Cole was up to the challenge and captured the victory over Ward, Cornell, Mike Stoddard and Brandon Smith.
Defending Track Champ Shane Wolf, Jr. claimed the win in the caution free 20 lap Street Stock feature. He was followed across the line by Eric Boynton, Ricky Davis, Sr., Randy Fox and Bob Buono.

I have to get my self a full face mask for track usage. I was reminded again last night. Stiff Wind was blowing directly at us on pit end.  ;D

PS. Last name Warner.  Just kidding - 8th.    My finish list is unofficial though.  A lot of guys went far from the back of the pack.
Thanks. I just watched - he did all the work.
