Evergreen Raceway Park

Don't even know where to start with this place. Officials SCREWED Brian Sones out of win tonight. A racing deal pure and simple down in one with 4 laps to go. Chuck came down into him and they touched. Brian was the better car there and got to his number clean but Chuck hasn't won in a while and  pinched down into the 12'a rf. He sent himself into the wall with that move. But you think the cowards that run that place are going to give Sones a break with the Wanick 1?  Yeah..right....who put the extra cash into the purse tonight?  Sorry Ted you windbag. Your comments were ************. Brian didn't "stuff Chuck into the wall" (your words) it was a racing deal and if you were honest you will admit that.

Still looking for the oil from  the 19. The smoke was oil left over from the earlier leak they had in race one and the steering was not leaking and no amount of insistence will change that.

Nice call also Ted on the clock out on lap 19 of race one....NOT...oops..people who sponsor laps  kind of want to see them raced.  Time issue wouldn't even be in play if they had something close to real track clean up crew.

Comedy Central in eastern PA but nobody is laughing.. The joke this place is continues....

"Meet the new Boss, same as the old Boss" -- Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who

Well, guess what?  I was fooled again and I'm not very pleased about it.

The 2020 Evergreen season started with a new Race Director and I was hopeful.  The first racing event with tour-type modifieds was a significant improvement over previous seasons.  (I ate crow when the show actually started on time.)  Sunday, I was back at Evergreen for my second visit and I'm here to tell you that the old Evergreen has returned.  What a shame.

If, as advertised, the track management convenes a meeting to discuss everything awful that took place, I hope the following points of discussion are raised:

1) How many times did the announcer tell me (and everyone else) that Evergreen had time limits for each feature?  Often.  Very often.  How many times did Evergreen ignore said time limits?  Three times.  The first 25 lap modified feature took 45 (!) minutes.  The second 25 lap feature probably took longer given the antics of one driver (more on that later).  The street stock 30 lap feature was checkered after 40+ minutes (instead of 30 minutes) and only 19 laps (of 30 scheduled) completed.  If you have time limits for each feature, then enforce them.  Otherwise, get rid of them.  If you change the rules during the race, some fans will wonder why.  Favoritism maybe?

2) Speaking of the antics of one unhappy modified driver, you don't tow him into the pits and then let him come back onto the track later on!  Are you kidding me?  His temper tantrum caused a huge delay and you let him back on the track to race?  I would have towed him into the infield and kept him on the hook for the duration of the race.  Andrew Harpell would have towed his ***** out into the spectator parking lot!  If you let the patients run the asylum, this is sort of unwanted drama you'll get.  And I'm sick of track management apologies.

3) Modified handicapping system?  Do you have one or do you just put Matt Hirschman as close to the rear as possible?  My point is that if you have a system, please tell us what it is.  Otherwise, it would appear that you're hiding something or favoring certain individuals.

4) Other stuff includes starting late (even though practice ended at 1:45) and a far too long intermission.  I guess old habits are hard to break.

After declaring the time was up (after 19 laps) of the 25 were run on race one the announcer has to now tell the crowd that ALL 25 laps will be run because they have lap sponsors. He didn't know that to begine with?  Or the race director?  If you think it was confusing in the stands you should have been in the pits. If you get DQ'd for leaking oil..shouldn't oil actually be leaking from your car?  If you are told to you are getting put rear for wrecking the leader ( which didn't happen..whole other story) why would the promoter come and tell you 10-15 mins after the fact that they made a mistake on their call and you are getting your spot back when.....the starter and at least two other officials said you were not? The car was being prepped for the trailer and the driver was out of his suit.  I kid you not.  It's keystone cops time once again
at this great little race place that is run by gross incompetence.

So you all know the Sones team is done...sold their car this morning.  After a long association with that place the decision was indeed a difficult one but enough is enough.

for myself ..I too am done. Either promoting it or criticizing it.  Just a sad sad sorry state this place is.

Evergreen Raceway (PA) has a $6,500 to win tour-type modified race this Sunday and I will not (repeat: not) be in attendance. I can not and will not frequent a race track that can't produce a proper show. By way of example, I was at Thunder Road (VT) last Thursday. With four classes plus spectator 1-on-1 races, the entire show lasted 3 hours and 15 minutes.

They started on time. Intermission was short (less than 15 minutes). Cars were lined up for each heat, consi, and feature before they took to the racing surface. Cars that spun didn't sit awaiting the yellow flag. They rejoined the race!  All in all, an excellent example of how a racing show should be run.

I can only hope that Evergreen Raceway management will make significant improvements as they have become the "poster child" for how not to run a race track. If they do, I'll return for the remaining tour-type modified events.

Phredo, you were correct. We ignored your advice and while they did start on time and the  covers over the stands were helpful, it took 7 hours to run the show. Desperate to see a race  we made the long trip. It was encouraging to see a good field of cars in the pits, but went downhill from there. 1 1/2 hours for a 40 lap street stock? Over 30 minutes for an intermission? Run your featured race last? It was a painful experience. Sad to see people especially families leave early. Never again

i don't know what i was thinking, we decided to make the trip out (probably been 10 years since i have been there), we left during the street stock race. i don't think i have ever been to there without it be being some kind of circus. 7 hours to run that show? headline division last?   i am disgusted in asphalt short track racing right now. time management is terrible. after going to wally world sat. night, i'm done. sticking to dirt

It's a shame that Evergreen couldn't run their four class show in less than SEVEN hours!  Can you believe it?  Seven f'ing hours!  I truly like going to Evergreen and watching modifieds compete but I will not subject myself to such a poorly run (I'm being polite) facility.

Got there at Noon to be ready for practice, left at midnight after tech. Completely ridiculous for four class show. With a 100 lap mod race, why would you run extra distance races for all the other classes and a drifting exhibition???????

Who is the owner/and or promoter of the track?
