Thunder Mountain Speedway located near Whitney Point, N.Y. will open the gates this Friday night for the “Frostbuster” race night with the Hunt’s Auto Service Sportsman Modifieds, the Doug’s Trash Removal Hurricane Street Stocks, the UMP Pure Stocks, and the UMP 4 Cylinder Sport Compact FWD division all in action. Friday’s racing will reward the Sportsman “Slobberknocker Qualifier” winner with an important guaranteed starting spot in the July 3rd mid-week special. This 30 lap qualifier will pit some of the best Sportsman racers across the region against one another as many outsiders are expected with other Sportsman tracks not opened for the season yet. The winner of the night’s 25 lap “Hurricane” qualifier will receive a guaranteed spot in the 11th running of the “Hurricane” Harry Uhl Jr. Street Stock Memorial slated for Sunday, September 2nd. The newly UMP sanctioned Pure Stocks, and 4 Cylinder FWD Sport Compact division fill out the nights’ race program. Action will get underway at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:00 p.m.
Thursday April 12th, the night before the season opener, a scheduled “Test and Tune Night” is on the agenda. All racers wanting to get some valuable “track” time for the following nights’ opener should make it a point to bring their cars down. All types of race cars are welcome, so come join us. Practice will get underway at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:00 p.m.
