This Friday night, June 7th, the race program at Wyoming County International Speedway (WCIS) features a bunch of special added attractions…some of which you won’t commonly find at a paved stock car racing facility, including a couple of outstanding giveaway items that fans could win with the track’s weekly 50/50 raffle.

One of the additional prizes in the 50/50 raffle this week is a pair of tickets for NASCAR action at Pocono Raceway. “Pocono is one of the most challenging layouts in all of motorsports,” said track announcer Paul Szmal. “With its recent repaving, the racing on the ‘tricky triangle’ has become better and better, and we’re happy to be able to offer our fans a chance to experience it in person, while at the same time helping to support their favorite drivers at WCIS.”

Hidden Valley Animal Adventure of Varysburg, NY is presenting the night’s action and will have some of the animals from the park on hand to interact with fans young and old. Race fans in attendance will also have a chance to win an overnight stay at their brand new lodge via the track’s 50/50 raffle.

Steady rain and cold temperatures forced Wyoming County International Speedway officials to pull the plug on the scheduled race program for Friday, May 24th, 2013.

The scheduled opening round of the Raceway 5/WCIS Dirt vs. Asphalt Challenge for 4 Cylinders will join next week’s race card, which also features a 50-lap Super Stock feature as well as regular racing action for the SST Modifieds and Vintage Late Models.  There will also be a Double Figure 8 Race and the special CO2 car competition featuring tech teams from the Warsaw and Perry schools.

The Sprint Car Exhibition has been rescheduled for Friday, June 7th.

We have listened to feedback from area racers and are happy to make two announcements today:

1-There will now be NO CHARGE to enter RACE VEHICLES in the Fidelis Care 'Finger Lakes Speedworld' show. Those who have paid for entries of race vehicles will receive their entry fee back at show move in.

2-The deadline for entries will now be extended to TUESDAY, MARCH 19th to allow those who wish to enter to do so.

Here is the link to the page where the updated entry form is avaiable...

Thanks everyone!

I've decided to post this thread because the main feedback I've gotten from area racers is that they are unwilling to support our Fidelis Care 'Finger Lakes Speedworld' show because we're charging an entry fee like the Southern Tier Speedworld mall show does.

So, I'm going to ask a simple question.  (And be honest here):

Who would display a race car at this show if there was no entry fee?

Even though there's costs involved (some of which I'd have to absorb if there wasn't an entry fee), I'm more than willing to do that and waive the entry fee for race cars if that's what it takes to make a successful show for the mall and for our sponsor...

But the key thing is:  I need FIRM commitments, not a 'we'll be there' and then on move in night less than half of the people who said they were coming don't show up.

So have at it...if you're in for it for free, post your FIRM intent below, and thanks in advance!   :)
