Racing Discussion / Re: It doesn't happen very often but...
« on: September 30, 2020, 04:34:28 PM »
What a weekend for racing we spent Friday - Monday and enjoyed every minute of it. I do agree on the programs and lights though, that should have been done better. We were so looking forward to that weekend for a long time. I've never really been disappointed in a ROC race and sure was not this past weekend. For me watching what Matt did was amazing with a bent up race car, same for Emerling who's car was wrecked worse than Matt's!! Good company, good weather, good food, good racing surely made for a very enjoyable weekend at Lake Erie Speedway!!!! Nice job everyone!

A step in the right direction? Open practice at Chemung June 13th, finally cars on the track!! This is all so nutz anyhow there has not been a new case of covid in Chemung County in nearly a month, No fans in the stands!! Let's get racing and fans in the stands soon!!!

Racing Discussion / Chemung ROC

Seeing Chemung has lost its first ROC race how about the ROC run twin 61 lap mains at the race in August?? Start early make it a day, the fans have always supported the ROC very well and I'm sure they would this, just a idea I thought I'd throw out there!! I know there is a drive up crowd once the Xfinity race is over but the crowd just gets bigger for the ROC race every year, trash away race fans!!

Was just wondering if the cart isn't being put in front of the horse, does anyone really know for sure what's going to happen to the track next year??last I knew John still owns the place which means no guarantee of anything, just curious or maybe someone knows a lot more than is being put out there??

Don't really matter much, same stupid BS thats been going on with the NYSS series, The car that won that race was told they were going to tear him down until they found some reason to DQ him, when a series starts dictating who's going to win it spells the end for that series, I seen and heard enough this past season to know that the NYSS series is going down just like the titanic!!! it's a inevitable! We always love are annual trip to the bullring but is really to much to ask for the fans to at least have a lap counter that works?? It sure would make it much more, enjoyable for the fans!!

Might not be a bad idea the NYSS series will die a slow death with all the BS that went on in that series, a less expensive class might draw larger car counts, the SS have become basically late models, way to expensive!! With the NYSS series dictating who's going to win their races who's wants to put all that money into a  SS. Like the idea go for it Chemung!!

Probably a boat load of reasons why it failed!! I do know that place produced some amazing modified racing, seems like it was built for them. It's was probably a lot for teams to have to change there setups after running Chemung on Friday to be ready for SL-2 on Sat. I for one miss the fall brawl the most, the camping with friends riding our 4 wheelers all over that hill was a blast, then we got to see some great racing!!! What more could a race fan ask for. Just a  shame it could not be worked out!!

Thank you to Ray and Ellen for keeping our little gem of a track up and running this year, It was a great season with great racing, most enjoyable in years. The final night brought a lot of surprises and produced track champions that were well deserving! Chemung was blessed with wonderful weather the whole sesson. I hope Ray and Ellen are up for another season of great racing in 2020!! Thank you for a wonderful year of racing at Chemung

Racing Discussion / Chemung

I thought for a quick minute I would see a political free season at Chemung. Well that would just be to much to ask for starting with sealed motors being opened to inspect intakes, that run off 2 top modifieds now move on to this week with opened motors now having to be inspected because the track felt it had to tear down sealed motors with only 2 weeks left in the season that turned into a fiasco for the 94 car that never got their car back to the track just before qualifying races!! The racing has been excellent this year but with 2 weeks left the political machine has reared its ugly head at Chemung once again and potentially will end the season once again with a big black cloud over what once promised to be a great season at Chemung!! Very disappointed to see this happen once again!

What a great day of racing at Chemung! Mother nature agreed to provide a absolutely beautiful day to go racing. Congrats to everyone involved for making it a great day of racing for the fans. Big shout out to my friends boys joining the ranks of bandaleros, 16, 26, 72, nice job boys!! Thanks to Ray Hodge and his wife for leasing Chemung guaranteeing racing at our little gem of a track in the southern tier. Congrats to Andy J on a good win and start to his ROC season!! and a shout out to Zack Curren running his B-mod to a second place finish!! The local racing season is off and running, come out and support your local tracks!!! 25 ROC modifieds started the race and the stands were full of fans, You could not ask for a better day of racing!!

Can't quite figure why only a 9 race schedule?? Seems like a awful lots of money to put into a Modified for just 9 races!! I only see one race at Hillside?? If your going to promote the ROC get out there and secure more races or are you going to let this series die also??

So let me get this right you race a stock car and are worried about ins. Coverage?? Maybe the wrong game for you!! I'm sure those gates don't open without liability ins. To cover spectators! As far as racers are concerned I'm not sure the tracks could afford to insure race drivers, maybe some do but I surely would not go to a race track as a driver with the expectation if I got gravely injured it would all be covered by the tracks ins!!, just my opinion!!

I have not always agreed with things at Chemung but as a father of 2 girls I would wish this on no one. Prayers to John and his family, may God bless his daughters soul and somehow find peace for this grieving family.
