We are working from the basic s.o.s. and a.s.c.s. type chassis rules for now plus allowing for additional wheel offset and axle width.
This way the dirt cars can easily start with a set up that's competitive against the committed pavement sprints..
As of now I believe all the chassis are dirt cars without any shock mounting modifications and still utilize a rear Jacobs ladder instead of a panhard bar but that may change for testing and racers feedback.
Its open to any engine / tire for now.
As things progress engine packages that compliments these cars will be decided on by the group for 2014.
most will be on pavement sprint American Racers that are very popular at the mid west tracks in the harder compound.

If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to call me 716-818-1576

Racing Discussion / Re: Crate motors in the sport mods
« on: February 19, 2013, 09:21:34 PM »
The 604 crate was allowed at Holland and Spencer in 2010. I know for sure one Mod was 604 powered and pretty sure there was a second car also.

I don't recall any plagues, locust, blood red rivers or the need to build an Arks. lol Evan Almighty comes to mind..

If a team has the ability and resources to build an engine especially if your sponsored by an engine builder.
I see the reason behind the push back but no one is talking about eliminating them. I'm am fortunate to have this support.

Sure the McClurg Latemodels are not setting any car count records but they have managed to attract younger talent that probably would not of considered the other "late" latemodels. Maybe their crate engine, rules package and organized structure is whats working.

From what I read on here and lake eries web site it seams that the loose rules and lack of order is what chased the other teams away not the crate engine. I remember one of the teams stated something along the lines " if you can't afford latemdel racing than you consider camping" well that work real well because all but 5 took his recommendation.

The cheap verbal attacks, bickering and crystal ball fortune telling on this forum has probably hurt the sport more than people think.
Someting needs to be done to attract and retain new talent into the sport.
This is the instant gratification with minimal investment generation.
perhaps knowing that you can purchase an engine and be confident you won't be outspent in the hp dept will work.
Racing needs to become more convenient, more competitive and less expensive..

life and work is stressful enough but at least ya get paid for it.
If your Putting tons of hours and cash into a hobby just to get ***** off and aggravated perhaps that's when the you should consider camping.

. But just like when George smoked us all they outlawed the RWD. So when one car wins almost every race its in, you have to expect changes to come from a competition stand point.

lmao... still a sore spot ...Rumor is that performance enhancing drugs may have played role too ...  :P

Racing Discussion / Re: Ethanol or Methanol...
« on: October 28, 2012, 12:19:21 PM »
Ethanol is far safer to use than Methanol especially in racing and that should be the 1st reason to use it.

Only a small amount of Methanol ingested is fatal ,plus exposure to skin or exhaust fumes are very dangerous.

15% Gasoline is added to E85 for 2 reasons: To keep the people from drinking the stuff and help in really cold starting conditions. But like any alcohol based product when not properly stored it absorbs moisture which is why the biggest problems arrise in marine applications.

Like Slippertoy I to use it for my race engine and have noticed many advantages over $10+ gallon race fuel.
it's about understanding and tuning. Ethanol in midget motors is nothing new.

Here in Eden I haven't noticed any corn price increases. The high cost of gasoline and diesel for transportation and farm equipment will effect prices far faster than E85 resourses.
Its funny how People forget when the Corn prices dropped so low years ago that the farmers didn't even harvest it .
Unfortunatly E85 if faced with the same political Big Oil b/s that the electric car is.
I have noticed some very large ethanol plants in P.A. so the resourses are put inplace and hope it takes a larger foot hold.

Amy had 5 wins and 23 top-five finishes in 2011 between Holland and the Spencer Speedway in her persuit to the NYS title.
also I think she has the wny traveling thing covered pretty well.

And Fiebelkorn grabbed his 1st Mod title with no teammates racing against the Price bros. ,Justin Shepker and a hand full of very experienced and talented drivers That alone is no small Feat!

Amy Catalano should be on that list and I'm sure it would change alot of those #'s .
*2011 NYS NASCAR Whelen All-American Series points Champion ! That alone should put her on there.
plus Holland and Spencer championships.

C'mon that's ridiculous !

Plus Mike Fiebs can wheel a Mod pretty darn good too! 2 holland championships

Racing Discussion / Re: Matt Tanner's race operation stolen in Canada
« on: September 20, 2012, 07:24:42 PM »
Yeah, I read a report from the local newspaper that said the same thing. Funny how Glenn Styres put up a $5k reward for it all to be returned...

Whats so funny about it ? Ya gotta be careful with your statements !

from Oshwekens facebook page :"$5000 reward for recovery of Tanner Racing Truck, trailer and race equipment $10,000.00 for arrest and conviction!"

Oshweken is one the best race Facilities handsdown especially when it comes to security, safety and taking care of its racers...

76 of the best 360 sprint car drivers showed up for 12k ESS, Patriots, SOS even 1 all the way from California .
Why wouldn't he try to help them out ! It appears he cares about the people that are "the show".

The promoter is the one who wants starters. His insurance policy does not allow atv type vehicles in the pit area, thus the reason for starters.
