Any does with it?  Where are you located?

If track "A" and track "B" are completely equal for my team in all aspects (distance, management, prices, track conditions, tech, pay, etc.), but ne is sanctioned and one isn't, I would support the sanctioned track.  If the non sanctioned track pays $10 more per position per week, or charges $5 lower pit passes (amounts to $15 a week for the 3 of us), then I'd go there.  That amounts to almost double the cost of the license over a season, and that little difference is all it would take for me to say screw the sanction.  That's how little I think of them at this point.  I know someone is going to bring up "Yeah, but at the end of the year you get contingency awards from the sanction".  I know.... I have an envelop full of them in my desk... they are either expired, or only good for $100 off if you spend $400... we've only used the ones good for $X toward anything we need, period.  If you're broke and don't have $300, that $100 they "gave" you isn't worth squat.

Racing Discussion / MEI Motorsports "Secret Santa" Search
« on: 14 Dec, 2016 13:13 »
MEI Motorsports is holding a TOP SECRET "Santa Search" from NOW until Friday, 12/16!  We know how many families struggle this time of year, so we want to bring a little holiday cheer to a few of those.  So, we are secretively looking for a few "Santa's" to help us bring a smile to the face of 6 children.  Here's how you "Santa's" can help.

We have 6 MEI Motorsports t-shirts (1 Youth Medium, 2 Small, and 1 Medium).  Send us a PRIVATE message here.  Tell us about a child you think would like to receive one of them from Santa.  Tell us WHY you think that child would like one... not a life story, but a few details such as "Joey's Dad lost his job this summer and his parents are really struggling this year", or "Suzy failed math in the first semester this year, but she has worked really hard and this past semester got a B!".  Whether it's a tough situation, health issues, or just a kid that has done something good and deserves to be rewarded, all entries are welcome!  Include the child's name and requested shirt size from the list above, as well as the name of an adult and their address to send the package to.  We will select the winning submissions this weekend, and Santa will ship 6 packages including a shirt, autograph card, and bracelet out on Monday, 12/19.  We will NOT be notifying the winners... They will get the surprise gift upon arrival.

Merry Christmas to all from Jake Maynard, the MEI Team, and all of the terrific sponsors at MEI Motorsports!

RIP Mr. Campfield.  While I never met you, I grew up at Shangri-La in the early 80's, and that experience has had a life long effect on me.  Thank you for the memories you helped create.

I spoke with Jim Stannard today.  It was a very nice conversation, and I understand their position.  As he said, 99% of the time, it is IMCA policy to not sanction a first year track/promoter.  He DID, however, say that this is NOT set in stone, and there IS the possibility that they would change their position, depending on how things develop at other speedways over the winter, particularly those whose 2016 plans are still up in the air, but at this time, they are declining.

IMCA info:  IMCA has declined interest in sanctioning.  Anyone that wishes, please send email to IMCA respectfully asking them to reconsider.  Will run IMCA rules.  Nothing set in stone for payouts.  Pit passes most likely will be $30, no entry fee.  Selling reserved pit parking.  Expected practice April 1.  Will have a minimum of 2 practices before going racing.  Surface will be the same clay we had a WVMP.... it was a great surface, no rocks and really easy on tires.  Can contact them to reserve numbers now.  Pretty much gave us ideas on what they are thinking, but not much is set in stone as they are concentrating on doing all the outdoor work they can before the weather goes bad.  Since some of the things said are only ideas at this point, I'm not going to elaborate further, as I don't want anything I say throw in their face later as "fact".

Hang in there buddy!  Still thinking of you.  Good to hear from you, and best wishes for continued progress.

Cookie cutter tracks, with cookie cutter cars, driven by cookie cutter drivers... most all are "politically correct marketing tools" and nothing more.  No identity or personality to any of the above.  Want to see a sold out race?  Schedule ONE at North Wilkesboro next season, just fix the place up and throw some paint here and there... no addition of seats.  It will sell out in less than a month.  Bobby Allison, Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, Alan Kulwicki, Cale Yarborough, David Pearson.... reading those names, did you confuse ANY with one another?  NO.  Why?  They were unique, each with their own personality.  Today, when they announce half the starting field, I know the names but can't put a face with them.  Ricky Stenhouse, Paul Menard, David Ragan, and a dozen others could walk through my door right now and I would think they were just another customer, would have no idea who they were.  Different attracts attention.  200 people can walk past you at the mall, and you won't remember ONE of them... let one man walk by in a tube top, heals, and Daisy Dukes and you will be telling people about it for weeks!

Tony, my office number is 570-265-897FOUR.  Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I don't get on RNY much anymore.  Somebody else told me you asked.  Thanks!

No problem... I'll sleep when I'm dead!  Glad all went well, hope the results are as good ON the track!
