It's a couple days before the ROC Mods go to Spencer Speedway. Who or what Mods will be there?
-
I'm thinking two heats of six....
-
IM assuming these drivers
amy and Tommy Catalano
Andy Jay
Darell Lewis jr
Mike Leaty
Patrick Emerling
George Skora
-
Whats going on here? 7 or 8 mods? Lancaster had 18, Oswego 16 , Whats the problem? We were averaging 20 something last year. Whats happened ? Whats happened to the field?
-
You ask "what's going on here?". You haven't been paying attention here, that's what is going on.
IT'S "RINKY-DINK"
Or if you are a fan of the "HUGE" car dealer on television. He calls things like this, "DINKY-DONKEY".
P.S. - Ask Laminate or Pud, they know what it is, they've seen it enough.
-
OHHHH, I'm Sorry. I don't spend a lot of time on computer, I must have missed something.SO!!!! If I may ask what is the status of the ROC MOD TOUR? Are there drivers/teams Boycotting the series? If so, why? I'm not trying to stir things up, but I usually travel and follow the series all over NYS. My plans this year was to follow the series down to Jennerstown PA. I'd kinda like to know, so if someone can fill me in on what I missed, i'd appreciate it.
-
I asked a couple of weeks ago when only 16 mods showed at Oswego and hossfeld stayed home to run a SPORTSMAN got no answers. I'm done
-
I believe we will have between 17-19 cars come Friday night.
ROC had a low point at oswego, the spring race is a tough race to run with the track losing grip and no rubber down. The rain that was forecast that day I assume scared the east coast teams.
I hear the 60, 22, 66, and 17 will be back in the field for Friday night. With the Erie and jennerstown race coming up i believe things will be picking up come summer time!
-
As I stated before ,I'm not on the computer a lot, but I do watch Raceny as much as I can. I don't remember seeing any thing about whats going on with the ROC. I am a devoted fan of the Mods and have traveled as far south to Florida to watch these Mods run. I've been watching races at lancaster before it was paved in the early 60s. Last year, I figured there maybe some trouble after the debacle in Oswego last Sept. But Again no one seems to be talking. I've asked several people why only 18 showed up at lancaster for the first show, I got nothing. Then when 16 were there at Oswego, I asked again, got the same answer again. What surprised me was Chuck passing up Oswego for a Sportsman race at Lancaster. As FANS, we deserve to know whats going on. We contribute our money in support of this series in many ways , front gate, fund raisers or even sponsor money in some cases. So if anyone can seriously explain, please do so

Thank you George, and I hope to GOD you are right.I'm planning a trip to Jennerstown for the entire weekend. sort of a mini vacation you might say, and I will be truly disappointed if I get there and see 12 Mods. Oh and good luck George this Friday night.
-
Jtown is going to be a unique weekend. I been hearing some good teams that don't race the tour full time interested in running that race! Hope to see everyone there. We need to build this series up and build some momentum up for that Race of Champions 250 race in september!
-
Thanks George, I was going to write something positive myself this morning.
...Everything George said, plus I'd like to add that the ROC race at Spencer last year was among the best races I saw all season. Mike "The baby-faced Assassin"Leaty drove around all the heroes on the outside to win a thrilling race.
...Add to that the NYSS Super stocks are on the menu too, always fun to watch.
...You never know who might show up for this race, I'll be there.......................kt
-
60 will be there,( and Erie, and J Town,and......) hopefully the 22 as well. ;D
-
When is J-town?

I dont know who was running the show last night , ROC or the track, but it was a long night with a lot of dead time. 4hrs and 15min for a two class show of 42 cars total. People were leaving before it all ended. Someone needs to go to Fulton or Canandaigua and see how a show should be run.
-
I could not agree more Herm. So much down time..............only 6 total heat races were needed. WAAAAY too long for 2 divisions.
-
Let me also add my complaints about the way the show was run. Way, way too many periods with no action such as between the modified time trails and their heats that followed. If the modified feature started around 9:00 pm, that means it took 1 hour and 45 minutes for time trials (in three groups) and 6 heats.
Can someone explain why the top 12 modified driver redraw was done before the super stock heats were completed? I don't think I've ever seen anything like this in all my years of race chasing. Two heats of super stocks, modified redraw, and then the third super stock heat. Mystifying!
-
Sad thing is it doesn't have to be this way. I went to Thunder Road in Barre Vt last weekend and it was just the opposite.
Well run show with a touring series on the card. 25 to get in to watch PASS Super Lates, the homegrown crate lates (great show btw), tiger (street) stocks and a buzz box division (also very entertaining). Lots of people and KIDS OMG with things to do for them. Like a carnival it was opposed to Spencer's "show".
(never mind the back gate greed).

Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah......
Another season and he's once again proving he's an ID10T.

We can't blame the ROC for this... spencer has alway been a long drawn out show.. those old men (spencer bros) were the best at selling cheap quality food in stale buns...lol.. looks like John white is doing the same, imagine if they sold beer...it was nice to see the mods have a decent field,I think with some tweaks to the rules, this class has a chance to grow again..
-
Sorry I missed this race this past Friday night.I was at Chemung last night and 5 classes of cars with heats and features, they were done in under 4 hours.John White has people in places to run the races so lets look at them first before we all get in an uproar.
-
I thought the racing in both classes was very good . way too much down time between races . I thought the food was very good , like it always has been here. ,although it is too expensive . I miss the Spencer brothers bigLy. Thanks to all racers and promoters of both series ,and John White for keeping the place open . Without you all there is no show . Hoping for the weekly show to grow also .

You got THAT right!! I can remember, SEVERAL TIMES, over the years, being at the track until well after midnight, to watch all of the races..............and consume a hot dog, or two, on stale buns!! In fact, I used to work the "graveyard shift" a lot, back then, and on Friday nights during the summer, I'd take my work clothes with me, when I went to the races. Frequently, the races ran so late, I didn't have time to go home and change, I had to go to work directly from the track.
