This is more confusing than originally thought. After reviewing my program and the internet links and listening to the announcer at the track I have a few questions. The RoC link
2012 lap program says that chips were drawn before the feature. Why were they telling everyone that it was a computer generated system if chips were drawn? If this was done ahead of time were drivers and owners aware of what positions paid for those predetermined laps? I know certain laps also paid contingencies and were well described like the Toyota lap. If this was truly random is it possible that the first place car could still collect all the money? Did the computer give 67 laps to first, 67 laps to second and 66 laps to 3rd? The computer selected information or chip results should have been made public to the teams and fans before the race. The last I heard lap money was still coming in a couple hours before the race and was estimated at $28,000.
When there is $28,000 plus available why on earth would you leave yourself open to criticism? There should have been no questions or doubts about this system.
