CRAIG VON DOHREN EARNS HIS 11TH T.P.TRAILERS NASCAR TRACK MODIFIED TITLE AND BRIAN HIRTHLER COLLECTS SECOND T.P.TRUCK EQUIPMENT SPORTSMAN CHAMPIONSHIP AT GRANDVIEW

RAY SWINEHART AND KYLE LILICK HIT PAY DIRT WITH GRANDVIEW FEATURE VICTORIES SATURDAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. September 13, 2020 . . . The 2020 Grandview Speedway racing season shortened by the virus has been a series of ups and downs for two time former Modified point champion Ray Swinehart.

Numerous occasions Swinehart had his No. 33 hooked up and appeared to be on the way to a possible victory only to be hampered with some form of problem that eliminated his chances.

Saturday night in the activities sponsored by Hope Mortgage Team that sponsors Sportsman drivers B.J. Joly and Lex Shive, Swinehart took the early lead in the 30-lap T.P. Trailers Modified NASCAR Advance Auto Parts feature and stayed there until the drop of the checkered to go home $3,850 richer for his first win of the year. He received $2,500 to win, plus $300 from T.P., $1,000 from Hope Mortgage and an extra $50 for third in the Cash Dash also from Hope Mortgage.

Kyle Lilick took advantage of the lane leader Jesse Landis opened up with one lap remaining in the 25-lap T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman feature and went on to claim his second triumph. The win, his second of the season, was worth $1,800 – $600 to win, $200 from TP and $1,000 from Hope Mortgage.

The highlight of the evening activities was the crowning of the point champions in each class.

Craig Von Dohren finished fifth in the Modified feature, but it was enough to rack up his 11th title with a total of 3133 points which was 227 points ahead of runner-up and defending champion Duane Howard.

The Sportsman chase had a closer point difference between first and second. Brian Hirthler had to fix two broken axles while in the pits under caution in the feature and was one lap down, but with an 18th place finish he was able to finish with 2258 points, just five points ahead of second place finisher Brad Arnold.

At the onset of the Modified feature Swinehart was off and running with John Willman, recently released by the doctors to race following a gall bladder surgery; Justin Grim, Rick Laubach and Ron Kline in tow.

Within seven laps Swinehart had a comfortable lead built up leaving a three-way battle for second between Willman, J. Grim and Laubach. Attempting to get in the mix were Craig Whitmoyer and Ryan Grim.

By the Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie mark the order behind Swinehart was now Laubach, Willman, Mike Gular and J. Grim.

The first caution was brought out on the 17th lap when Louden Reimert slowed in the fourth turn with a right rear flat tire. The restart was void after Meme DeSantis and Joe Funk III tangled in turn four. Swinehart continued his rapid pace when action continued, but by this time Laubach, Brett Kressley, Gular and J. Grim held down second through fifth. Von Dohren was trying aimlessly to move into fifth, but to no avail.

Even though lapped traffic was among the front runners Swinehart could run the top and bottom lanes to get by them.

All the suspension changes tried throughout the year which was a learning curve paid off for Swinehart as he pulled into victory lane for the first time since September 1, 2018 when he won the Forrest Rogers Memorial race. Placing second was Laubach, for his best finish, trailed by Kressley, Gular and Von Dohren. Sixth through tenth were J. Grim, last week’s feature winner Kevin Hirthler, Whitmoyer, Dillon Steuer and Jeff Strunk. Jared Umbenhauer who started 27th and finished 16th received $250 as the Hard Charger from Hope Mortgage.

Qualifying heat winners were J. Grim, Louden Reimert, Swinehart and Ryan Grim. Dylan Swinehart and Doug Manmiller won the consies. R. Grim won the Hope Mortgage 3-lap Cash Dash for $300.

Polesitter Bryan Rhoads led the Sportsman feature for seven laps until Steve Young, who previously won the Hope Mortgage Cash Dash for $300, passed him on the outside on the restart needed when Brandon Edgar stopped in turn one.

Hirthler pulled into the homestretch infield close to the edge of the track on the ninth lap, but it wasn’t until the 10th lap the yellow was thrown putting him a lap down. Hirthler went pit side and in that time the red was thrown for a fire in Chris Esposito’s car ending his night. This mishap allowed Hirthler more time to work on his car and return. Young remained first with Landis trying to overtake him.

Landis became the new leader on the 12th lap restart needed when Tommy Scheetz Sr. and Scott Kohler tangled in the second turn. Behind him Cole Stangle, Lilick, Young and Ryan Beltz diced for the remaining top five positions.

The yellow was waving again on the 14th lap after Brett Gilmore stopped in the fourth turn. Hirthler went pit side once again and while he was in the staging lane along the back pits waiting to return modified drivers Jeff Strunk and Mike Lisowski noticed a broken axle and along with brother Kevin Hirthler quickly changed it and he came back out. On the Dan’s Deli ½-way restart Landis was now being chased by Lilick, Beltz, Young and Stangle.

Lilick made several bids to take control, but Landis, in search of victory, kept him behind.

With one lap to go Landis opened up the proper line which was the break Lilick needed and got past him.

Lilick never looked back and went on to his second win of the season followed by Landis, for his best finish, Beltz, Stangle, the highest crate engine finisher earning an extra $100 from the track and Jack Butler. Rounding out the top ten were Kyle Smith, Lex Shive, John McGovern, Mark Kemmerer, who started 23rd and received $250 from Hope Mortgage as the Hard Charger, and Brad Arnold. Lilick was the only repeat feature winner of the season in the Sportsman division.

Esposito, Young and Shive won the heats. Consi winners were Dylan Hoch and Kenny Bock.

Coming up on Friday, September 18 is the Freedom 38 for Sportsman with the winner earning $3,550. In addition to the regulars several visitors are expected to test their talents with action set to get under way at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, September 19 the 50th Annual Freedom 76 Modified race that rewards the winner with $35,550 plus lap money. The action set to start at 7 p.m. Fans are invited to enter the speedway grounds between 9 a.m. to 12 noon to reserve seats. Saturday action will include qualifying events, the $1,000 to win Kirsten Snyder Web Design & Photography Cash Dash, the Schaeffer Racing Minuteman 20 topped off with the 50th Annual Freedom 76.

Bobby Gunther Walsh and his sponsors will sponsor the Hard Charger Award worth $500. Bob Hilbert Sportswear will present a jacket to the winner.

SETH ZACHARIAS GARNERS FIRST EVER INSINGER PERFORMANCE CRATE SPORTSMAN FEATURE WIN.  GARY SMITH CLAIMS 2O2O TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP.

KIRKWOOD, NY…Saturday night was Season Championship night at Five Mile Point Speedway which determined the 2020 Track Champions and ended the regular season of racing.  Third generation Crate Sportsman Rookie Seth Zacharias raced to his first career win in the 20 lap main event.  Gary Smith, who finished second claimed his first ever Five Mile Point Speedway Track Championship in the Insinger Performance Crate Sportsman division.  The post season starts on Sunday, September 13th with a fall fling series for all classes.

2020 marked the 70th consecutive season of racing at Five Mile Point Speedway.  Prior to start of the season a big schedule had been put in place for the anniversary season.  Things certainly changed in early March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Historically, this season will long be remembered for many things that included the first ever season with no spectators attending the racing.  Despite the NYS restrictions that were in place all season the race teams responded with outstanding racing and a renewed energy for having fun and racing hard.

Entering Saturday Gary Smith had been the point leader in the Insinger Performance Crate Sportsman division for the majority of the season.  His main contenders for the Track Championship entering Saturday were Matt Brewer, Brandon Loucks and Blaine Klinger.  For both Smith and race winner Seth Zacharias the night started off as a challenge Smith started last in the first of four heats and Zacharias started last in his heat race number two.  Both advanced far enough in their heat race to make the handicap for the feature event.  This would ultimately prove the difference in the championship hunt.

Brian Durbin and Zacharias led the twenty-seven car field to the green flag for the 20 lap championship event.  Zacharias used the racy outside line of the quarter mile to immediately take the race lead at the green.  Smith wasted no time as he advanced from fourth to second place on lap 1 and Tighe Sherlock followed Smith to immediately advance from fifth to third.  The first caution of the race flew on lap 5 and on the restart Smith worked past Zacharias for the race lead.  Unfortunately for Smith the caution flew again nullifying the pass.  For Zacharias, it was a wake up call and wasn’t caught off guard again.

When racing resumed Zacharias pulled ahead with Smith, Sherlock, Benke and Durbin all running in the top five slots.  It didn’t take long for the leaders to find lapped traffic as the race went caution free for an extended time.  Zacharias had established his lead over the field by the halfway mark but lapped traffic began to allow Smith to close the gap again.  At this point twenty-five of the original starters were still on the track.  The final caution of the race flew on lap 17 as a multi-car tangle took place.  This again put the veteran driver Smith on the back of the rookie for the restart.

Zacharias responded like multi-season driver when the green flew as he again opened his advantage over Smith.  When the checkered flags flew Zacharias had earned his first ever Sportsman victory.  Smith finished second and that was enough to secure his first ever Five Mile Point Speedway Track Championship.  Tighe Sherlock had another impressive outing coming home in third with Benke and Loucks completing the top five. Bobby Flood wound up fifth after starting ninth.  Last weeks winner Tyler Johnston was seventh, Joe Gustella finished eight with Matt Brewer advancing from eighteenth to finish ninth.  James Cornell made his return to racing and scored the tenth position.

Bob Hamm entered the evening as the point leader in the 600 Modified division.  His top contender for the Track Championship was multi-time feature winner Brett Gray.  Eli Akshar and Hamm started on the front row but it certainly would not be an easy event for Hamm. Akshar took the early race lead in the 20 lap feature event.  Gray wasted no time as he moved from his third starting position into the race lead on lap 3.  The title hopes for Hamm were in jeopardy as the caution flew as he was involved in a multi-car wreck in turn 1.  Hamm wound up with a flat tire and headed to the pits.  It looked as if Gray could possibly win the race and the track title.  As the race was about to go green Hamm made it back on the speedway and restarted in the rear.  At the green Gray immediately pulled away from Doug Lattner as he hoped to secure the track title and the win.  Hamm began to work his way back through the field as he was looking to protect his point lead and title hopes.  On lap 13 James Randall worked past Lattner for second place Chelse Beebe and now Hamm were in the top five. The final caution of the race flew on lap 17 when Randall spun Hamm in turn 1 as the race for second had heated up.  Hamm was able to pull away from the wreck and Randall headed to the pits.  The final restart saw Gray quickly open up his lead and go on for another win.  For the second straight week he collected his own bounty this time winning $450 for the victory.  Lattner, Dave Brown, Jason Sullivan and Akshar rounded out the top five.  Hamm finished sixth which proved to be enough to lock up his first Five Mile Point Speedway Track Championship.  His dad was a former Mini-Stock Champion at the speedway.

A tight point battle was taking place in the Factory Stock division as Justin Slezak entered the night as the point leader with Ray Lindquist and Adam Gilbert both within striking distance of the title.  Slezak took the initial lead in the 20 lap feature event but for the second straight week Josh Dumas powered past to take the point on lap 3.  The caution flew on lap 5 and on the restart Slezak re-established himself as the race leader.  His lead would again be short lived as two laps later Dumas again took over the top spot.  The leaders had a furious battle as Lindquist saw his title hopes extinguished as he headed to the infield on lap 7.  Dumas again looked for his first ever win but ultimately, he would see heartbreak again.  With only one lap remaining Dumas had a wheel come off exiting turn 2 taking away his victory hopes.  The week prior he had crossed the finish line first only to have the win taken away in post-race inspection.  Slezak would lead the last lap for the win and secure his first ever title in the process. Dumas made it back out to finish second with Kurtis Stickle having his best of the season in third.  Adam Gilbert and Billy Shoemaker completed the top five finishers.

Walter Decker entered the evening chasing Tim Vandemark in the FWD Four Cylinder Expert class title battle.  Decker led every lap to record his second straight win and collect the posted bounty on Vandemark.  Vandemark finished in second which was enough to lock up the Track Championship in the class. Dave Simms, Tim Degroat and Ken Evans crossed the line in that order.

Doug Newbigging and Owen Clark entered the evening tied for the point lead in the FWD Novice division and the duo matched each other’s effort the entire race.  Bethany Bertram raced out to the early lead but Newbigging took over on lap 2.  Clark chased Newbigging the entire race for the race lead and ultimately the Track Championship.  On the final lap Clark dove under Newbigging making contact as the two raced inches apart to the finish line.  Newbigging was credited for the win and the Track Championship with Clark finishing second.  The two congratulated each other with great sportsmanship in post-race inspection.  Gregg Slater, Austin Slater and Mike Jenks completed the top five.

Jeremy Warren led wire to wire in the 20 lap Crate Sportsman Futures division.  It was his first career win in the Crate Sportsman class.

Avery Decker was the Juniors Inner Loop winner and champion.

Round 3 At Land of Legends Falls To Rain, Rescheduled To Sep. 26

CRSA Sprints Media Contact: Steven Ovens – turnfivemedia@gmail.com

Press Release – August 30th, 2020

(SODUS, NY) – The storylines were there, the table was set and the Super Gen Products CRSA contingent was ready to feast on Paul Cole’s Land of Legends Raceway in what potentially may have been the final round of the 2020 CRSA Tour. There is an October 9 date scheduled at Afton Motorsports Park that is tentative at this time due to New York State Executive Orders from the Governor.

Mother Nature dropped a hearty two inches of rain on Thursday at the Ontario County facility. Then additional rainfall on Friday night into Saturday morning left track officials no choice but to cancel the August 29 program. It turned out being a great choice as additional rainfall came through around the time hot laps would have been firing off.

The event at Land of Legends Raceway has been rescheduled for Saturday September 26, which falls on an event that Cole and his staff have titled the “Stars of Tomorrow Spectacular”. A fitting event to include the CRSA stars and cars- many former CRSA drivers have gone on to have successful careers in 360 Sprint Cars after cutting their teeth on tour with the 305 Sprints.

Round 4 will pay a cool $1,000-to-win courtesy of Mike Emhof Motorsports of Sodus, NY. There will also be rolling top 5 cash bonuses on the line and lap sponsorships for each lap of the main event. The lap sponsors were acquired for the Afton event but with the status of that October 9 show uncertain, officials have elected to award the lap sponsorships at the Land of Legends race.

After a tough night with a DNF at Penn Can Speedway August 21, Darryl Ruggles’ advantage in the point race dwindled down to 12 markers over both Alysha Ruggles and Trevor Years. Dana Wagner is right in the thick of it as well, only 13 markers shy of the lead. This sets up for an exciting event at Land of Legends in September at the home track of Ruggles, Bay and Years. It will also be an opportunity to see if the CRSA Sprints can log 4 different winners in 4 races for the 2020 campaign as parity has been at a premium.

In 2020 there have been six different winners at Land of Legends where weekly CRSA-sanctioned competition is held. There hasn’t been a dominant car all season with Bobby Parrow, Alysha Bay, Cory Sparks, Brandyn Griffin, Darryl Ruggles and Jason Whipple all collecting commemorative LOLR checkered flags.

With the uncertainty of the October Afton date, drivers will be racing like it is Championship Night on September 26 with the real winners being the fans who are anticipated to be allowed to attend this post-season affair. Gates on that date will open at Noon with the pits being cleared at 3:00 to pay for entry. Heat in motors will take place at 5:00, followed by Hot Laps and Racing scheduled for 6:00. The event will also be available for purchase to view online by visiting www.landoflegendstv.com for just $14.95.

The CRSA 305 Sprint Tour is powered by Super Gen Products with their Champion Power Equipment located in Newark, NY. Associate sponsors for the 2020 CRSA 305 Sprints include Midstate Basement Authorities, CNY Farm Supply, the Maguire Family of Dealerships, Eagle Enterprises, LLC, Hoosier Racing Tires and is owned and operated by Mike Emhof Motorsports.

KRESSLEY POSTS BACK-TO-BACK MODIFIED FEATURE WINS; BELTZ SCORES SEASON FIRST SPORTSMAN WIN AND JOSKO TAKES 600 MOD WIN AFTER WINNER WHITBY WAS DISQUALFIED AT GRANDVIEW

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. AUGUST 30, 2020. . . Despite a lengthy rain delay, the racing on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway was able to be completed through the diligent work of the track crew and cooperation from the participants.

Eric Biehn came up five laps short of racking up his first 30-lap T.P. Trailers Modified NASCAR Advanced Auto Parts feature career win. Brett “The Threat” Kressley, who started 16th, chased Biehn down through the aid of lap traffic and was able to overtake him to score back to back feature victories.

The 25-lap T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman feature was decided in the closing stages also. Ryan Beltz, kept edging his way to the front and with two laps remaining he passed Steve Young for the lead and went on to capture his first win of the season in the event that went non-stop. Beltz became the tenth different winner of the season in the Sportsman division.

Erik Whitby led all 15 laps of the Excel 600 modified feature and crossed the line first, but was later disqualified. The win was most likely awarded to runner-up Jon Josko but as the speedway emptied Excel officials hadn’t really declared who the winner was.

Modified and Sportsman feature winners that met the necessary requirements received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and a certificate from VP Fuels for product awards. The Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award recipients were Biehn and Young.

Darrin Schuler grabbed the early lead in the Modified feature from his second starting berth in the 28-car lineup to set the pace trailed by Mark Levy, Biehn, Richie Hitzler and Ryan Lilick.

The one and only caution period was brought out on the 11th lap by Jeff Strunk when he slowed his pace with a right rear flat tire. He was able to rejoin the field after a quick pit stop. On the restart Biehn shot past Schuler to become the new pacesetter. The battle for positions behind him was soon hot and heavy between Lilick, Kressley, Schuler and Hitzler.

Lap cars entered the picture around the 22nd circuit which made Biehn use caution to get around them. This situation allowed Kressley to close the distance and overtake second from Lilick on the 24th lap.

One lap later the lead changed for the third time with Kressley at the head of the pack.

Kressley never looked back once he gained control and was in the winner’s circle for the third time. Coming on strong at the end was runner-up and former point champion Mike Gular. Biehn and Lilick finished third and fourth for their best finishes with Doug Manmiller coming home in fifth. Sixth through tenth were Hitzler, Craig Von Dohren, Ryan Grim, Duane Howard and Lauden Reimert.

Ryan Grim, Hitzler, Kressley and Biehn won the heats. The consies were won by Alex Yankowski and Craig Whitmoyer.

Young, who started on the pole, took the lead on the initial start of the Sportsman feature with pressure coming from Tom Miller, Derrick Smith, Kenny Bock and Jesse Landis. Trying earnestly to get into the top five was Jesse Leiby, who was driving Nick Faust’s No. 322 rather than his own No. 9. Leiby succeeded and moved into fifth on lap nine and was on the move.

By the 19th lap Leiby was challenging Young, but in a few laps he lost several positions as he appeared to be developing problems.

Rapidly moving toward the front was Beltz and with laps remaining was second.

It didn’t take Beltz long to get by Young for the lead and Miller followed through for second on the 24th lap.

Beltz never faltered and went on to score his fourth career win trailed by Miller, Young, Smith and Bock. Rounding out the top ten were Kyle Lilick, Jesse Leiby, Jack Butler, Landis and Nate Brinker.

Heats were won by Young, Bryan Rhoads and Bock. Chuck Eckert, last week’s feature winner won the consi.

Whitby led all the laps of the red and yellow flag filled 600 Excel Modified feature. The race was shortened to 15 laps instead of the scheduled 20 due to all the mishaps and Whitby crossed the line first. However he was disqualified and the win most likely ent to second place finisher Josko followed by Corey Sechrist, Matt Warner and Ty Hoke.

Weedsport’s Cavalcade Cup Weekend Canceled Due to COVID-19 Restrictions

WEEDSPORT, NY (August 28, 2020) – Yet another extension of New York State Executive Orders disallowing spectators at racing facilities, means Weedsport Speedway’s Cavalcade Cup Weekend, set for September 11-12, has been canceled.

"It is again unfortunate that we have to cancel a racing weekend, especially this two day event that was set to bring so many teams and fans to The Port,” said Weedsport Speedway promoter, Jimmy Phelps.  “Special events at Weedsport are made by having our great fans in our grandstands, and unfortunately that is not possible at this time."

Ticket and camping refunds will be issued for Cavalcade Cup Weekend.

Refunds will be automatically issued to the original form of payment for those who purchased within 90 days of the event.  Tickets or camping purchased more than 90 days prior to the event will be issued and mailed a refund check.

With this latest cancelation, Weedsport Speedway’s next scheduled event is set to be the Super DIRT Week Kick-Off Party on Wednesday, October 7, featuring the DIRTcar 358-Modifieds and DIRTcar Sportsman.

Weedsport Kartway will return to racing on Sunday, August 30 with the second annual Kart Cup.  For more information visit www.weedsportspeedway.com/kartway.

SHEPPARD, WHRITENOUR, AND ELLISON ALL CAP OFF STELLAR SEASONS AT OUTLAW SPEEDWAY.
Shields, Payne, Hyer and Bruce all end as multiple winners.  Spalding bags first of the year.
Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.
(Dundee, NY) It is now very clear what will happen with the Bounty Money that was placed on both Super Matt Sheppard and Glen Whritenour earlier in the season at Outlaw Speedway.  Sheppard in the Modifieds and Whritenour in the Street Stocks completed the regular season with feature wins on Friday night.  They along with Wayne Ellison in the IMCA Hobby Stock Division all ended the regular point season as Track Champions and all three piled up nine feature wins a piece heading into post season play.
For Sheppard he will receive the extra $2,000 that was posted and Whritenour will grab the added $500. As for both men track owner/promoter, Tyler Siri stated, “I think its only appropriate that both these great competitors receive the Bounty Money I had put up on them several weeks ago.  They both handled the situation well and no track regular or outside driver that came in here could beat either one of them.  I think it’s only fair that both take the cash now that the regular season is over with.”
For Super Matt Sheppard in the Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modifieds his feature win really came as no surprise, however his customary reign of terror in the thirty-lap feature event was anything but a walk in the park. Brady Fultz led the fifteen car A Main event to the opening green flag and like several other times in 2020 looked poised to take home his first Modified feature win in several seasons at Outlaw.  For some twenty plus laps he led the charge keeping both Sheppard and AJ Slideways, Alan Johnson at bay.  Eventually the two full time veteran professional drivers were able to wear down the high flying Fultz denying him of the potential $4,000 pay day and take over the top two positions with Sheppard going onto his fifth feature win in the last seven starts at the popular Yates County oval.  For Johnson it was another solid top five run as he ended up the regular season at Outlaw with a pair of feature wins and will finish second in the final point tally coming up short of backing up his 2018 Outlaw Speedway Track Championship.  For Fultz it was yet another masterful performance piloting his family owned machine and he can now set his sights on the upcoming September/October schedule of events with the confidence that he can run with the very best in the business.  Like Fultz, Kyle Coffey ran a flawless Modified feature event in finishing fourth at the finish as the Doctor Danny Johnson piloting one of track owner, Tyler Siri’s potent Modifieds sponsored by Tim Gibson of Sunrise Insulation rounded out the top five finishers and wrapped up the regular season points in third place. Coffey came up just a few points shy of The Doctor and will end the year fourth in the final point tally.
Second verse same as the first with Glen Whritenour in the Stan’s No Tubes Street Stock’s mirroring the performance of Super Matt.  His traditional romp thru the feature field was not a cake walk by any means as he had to contend with early event leader, Jake Karlnoski who gave GW fits for the first eight laps and then had to hold off fast closing invader, Dylan Cecce to pick up the twenty lap feature win.  For Whritenour is finished off an incredible last nine weeks as he won eight of those events with just one DNF stretching back to July 3.  In a rare 2020 appearance at Outlaw, 2019 Track Champ, Cecce was definitely on a mission and looking to claim the $500 Bounty placed on Whritenour by track owner, Boss Man Siri.  Starting eleventh on the opening grid and driving the Crawford machine on this night, Cecce put on a clinic driving thru the talent ridden field and once clear of traffic was able to cut into race leader Whritenour s advantage.  With the laps winding down and no late race yellow flags to help in his cause, Cecce came up just a few car lengths short at the finish as Shawn Boyton trailed in third.  June 12 feature winner, CJ Guererri ended a consistent regular season finishing fourth at the double checkered flags while Kane Stebbins rounded out the top five.
In the Hoosier Tire Sportsman Division, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that Zach Sobotka would be crowned the 2020 class champion.  By virtue of four feature wins and a slew of other top five finishes in the class heading into the double point season point finale, Sobotka simple needed to just show up and take the opening green flag and it was official.  Tim Guild led the first fourteen laps from his front row starting position and looked to finally shake the gremlins that have plagued him through the entire 2020 race season.  Fourth generation driver, Alex Payne who had won twice thus far on the season was marching thru the field from the eighth starting spot and shot by Guild for the lead on lap fifteen and from there stretched the advantage and cruise to win three no the campaign.  Guild would hold on for a well-deserved runner up finish as he was chased across the line by Brett Buono in third. Tommy Collins Jr. capped off a great point year on the Hoosier Tire brand by finishing fourth while 2020 Track Champion, Zach Sobotka rounded out the top five.
In the Sunrise Insulation American Racer Tire Sportsman Division it was a three horse race heading into the twenty-five lap feature double point finale  One time 2020 class feature event winner, Billy Paine would lead the twenty-one car field to the opening green flag and lead the first eight laps.  Like Paine, Will Shields had also picked up one feature event earlier in the season.  He had a very patient strategy, moved around Paine for the lead on lap nine and from there it was game over as he cruised to win two on the campaign.  However, behind Shields it was nail biting time as Ajay Potrzebowski, who was leading the points heading into the event along with Chris Fisher and Karl Comfort were going at it for the title.  With double points on the line and just a few points separating the top three entering the event it could not be determined until the checkered flag waved as to who would be crowned Track Champ.  Both Fisher who won the title in 2018 and with no feature wins entering the event along with Comfort who claimed the title one year earlier in 2017 and had only one feature event thus far both had their work  cut out as Potrzebowski had been the dominate player with four feature wins.  With the laps winding down in an event that saw only three caution flags, Comfort finished second and was able to leapfrog over both Fisher and Potrzebowski and claim the title.  Early on in the event, Fisher looked positioned to earn the championship but faded late to a sixth place run just one spot ahead of Potrzebowski who dejectedly came up just a few points shy of claiming his first ever Outlaw Speedway Title.  Following both Shields and Comfort across the line was Casey Williams with an impressive third place finish followed by Zach Sobotka who was fourth and Troy Sperring in fifth.
Like the American Racer Tire Sportsman before them the IMCA Modifieds had no clear-cut favorite leading up to the last point night of the regular season.  At the beginning of the night a make-up feature for the IMCA Mods had to be run from a July 10 rainout.  In that event, Shawn Bruce was victorious for his second trip to victory lane in 2020 setting up another barn burner of a feature where anyone of three different drivers all having a mathematical chance of claiming the prestigious class title.  In the twenty-lap night cap event, invader Jared Spalding picked up his first feature win at Outlaw in 2020 after starting outside pole position.  All eyes were on the top three in points and as the double checkers waved in an event which had everyone holding their breath, Bad Brad Smith by finishing second, one position ahead of Kevin Smith who was third at the finish and Rodney Morgan who wound up fourth claimed the IMCA Modified Point Championship.  Brad Smith had but only one feature victory in 2020 on July 3 but showed great consistency on the entire season.  Kevin Smith had a pair of victories while the real story was 2018 Track Champion, Rodney Morgan who led the charge with six feature wins during the abbreviated season due to COVID 19.  Kevin Smith would finish third as the double checkered flags waved while Morgan and Shawn Bruce would claim fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the companion IMCA Hobby Stock Division it was a foregone conclusion that if Wayne Ellison could stay out of trouble, he would claim the track title.  Not only did the eight time feature winner in 2020 keep his nose clean, he charged thru the pack from his ninth starting position, went on for win number nine on the season and left little doubt that his dominating performance throughout the season truly earned him the title.  Chasing Ellison across the line in second was Jamie Eldredge Jr. while Casey Wagner would complete the top three podium spots.  Fourth went to Jack Ayers while Shawn Lloyd would round the top five finishers.  Bruce Kinner, who was second in points going into the night was unable to even start the feature helping Ellison’s cause while two time and defending class champion, Marc Minutolo all but conceded the title not even opting to compete on this night.  Minutolo had complied three feature wins along the way, but instead chose to run his Street Stock in hopes of claiming the Glen Whritenour Bounty Money.  Josh Oles was the only other feature winner in a division that saw Wayne Ellison virtually dominate the competition.
Last but certainly not the least the Might 4 Cylinder Mini Stocks had to run their scheduled twenty lap feature event to determine the 2020 class champion.  With two men dominating the division throughout the season all eyes were on point leader, Jeremy Bunn and his closest rival, Bob Doolittle as both were not only looking at another feature win, but perhaps the class title that would go along with it. When all was said and done veteran driver, Ray Hyer had picked up his second feature event of the year as he started in row two, got to the front in a hurry and lead throughout.  He was followed across the line by Kenneth Evans and Jason Smart both of which who had their best runs of the season.  Scott Lehman was able to finish fourth at the end just one spot ahead of Jeremy Bunn who while finishing fifth would go on to his first ever Outlaw Speedway 4 Cylinder Mini Stock Track Championship.
Congratulations to all feature winners and all class track champions.

SUPER MATT SHEPPARD AND GLEN WHRITENOUR REMAIN UNSTOPPABLE AT OUTLAW SPEEDWAY
Bounty Cash on each driver will roll over to season point finale on August 28, 2020.
Comfort and Oles grab first wins of the season.  Potrzebowski, Sobotka, Morgan and Lehman Jr. continue to rack up victories.  Abby Decker in Youth Bandit Division.
Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.
(Dundee, NY)  The Matt Sheppard and Glen Whritenour stranglehold on the competition in their respective classes continues at the Outlaw Speedway as both won their feature events on Friday, August 21 and with their victories the Bounty Money posted by the track will continue on yet another week.
The night got off to a fast start with the makeup feature in the Sunrise Insulation American Racer Tire Sportsman Class held over from a July 10 rain out.  In that event Ajay Potrzebowski  made short work of the twenty-five lap affair as he immediately took control of the event from his front row starting spot, led every lap  and with only one caution on lap two to slow the pace he went on to his fifth feature win of the year.  Potrzebowski had to contend with a persistent Troy Sperring who was looking to back up his first feature win of a few weeks earlier, but the seasoned veteran was up to the challenge, hit his marks to perfection and was able to hold off Sperring by less than a second at the double checkered flags.  Will Shields and Chris Fisher both lined up inside the top five at the start and finished third and fourth while Karl Comfort advanced two spots to claim fifth.  For Fisher it was a nice recovery after taking a bone jarring side over side flip just one week prior and keeps him in the hunt to back up his 2018 track title, but with the Potrzebowski win he will extend his small point advantage leading into the  night cap feature event.
In the regularly scheduled Sunrise Insulation American Racer Tire Sportsman twenty-lap main event Billy Paine and Zach Sobotka brought the nineteen-car field to the opening green flag with Sobotka taking control immediately.  Sobotka is one of several drivers that does double duty each week at Outlaw racing in both Sportsman Divisions and was looking to back up his lone feature win in the class dating back to June 19.  With just one caution flag to slow the event, Sobotka would lead thru lap seventeen when 2017 Track Champion, Karl Comfort would make his move, take over the top spot and go onto his first feature win of 2020 by several car lengths over Chris Fisher.  Sobotka would fall back to third at the completion as he was chased across the line by Casey Williams who finished fourth while Ajay Potrzebowski had another solid top five run claiming fifth at the finish and should maintain a very small point advantage leading into the season finale double point show next Friday.
Coming off a disappointing finish last Friday due to significant damage done to his potent 9s Modified, Matt Sheppard got back on track in dominating fashion as he nailed feature win eight on the 2020 campaign in the Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modified Division.  Super Matt, who lined up in his traditional twelfth starting position, charged thru a star- studded field, got to the point and said see you later as he built up an insurmountable lead.  Even with a mid-race yellow on lap fourteen to bunch the field, Sheppard was able to stay in clean air, keep fourth row starting AJ Slideways, Alan Johnson at bay and cruise to a four and a half second win while lapping up to the ninth place machine.  The Brothers Johnson who are trying to keep pace with Super Matt in the point battle both had good runs with AJ Slideways holding off Doctor Danny for second with the Doc in third as young guns Kyle Coffey and Jordan Siri claimed fourth and fifth.  Siri lined up in the front row at the start, ran with the lead group all race long and claimed a well-deserved top five finish.  For Coffey it was a little tougher as he was buried mid-pack, drove another methodical race and claimed a top finish helping his effort in taking a top five-point finishing position with just one-point event remaining.
In the Hoosier Tire Sportsman twenty-five lap feature AJ Lloyd and JT Sperring led the sixteen-car field to the opening green flag.  Zach Sobotka, who lead the points coming into the night lined up twelfth on the grid and had his work cut out for him.  However, like he has done three times previously this season, Sobotka was able to barn storm the field, take the lead and just barely nip AJ Lloyd at the line to claim victory number four.  A disappointed Lloyd, who is a picture of consistency each week at Outlaw Speedway will have to wait one more week to try and pick up his first feature win of the season.  As expected, Will Shields, Alex Payne and Tommy Collins Jr. all put in great drives as they finished third thru fifth at the finish.  With his win Sobotka will extend his already healthy point advantage over Collins Jr. heading into next week’s double point feature event.  Last year’s Track Champion Will Shields is still in the hunt but will need a miracle next week if he plans on defending the title.
In the Stan’s No Tubes Street Stock Class a pair of strong runners in Aaron Miller and John Carpenter would bring the seventeen car field to the opening green flag, but all eyes were on ninth place starting, Glen Whritenour as he looks to maintain his season long dominance of the class.  Carpenter would lead early but by lap twelve GW had taken away the lead on a restart.  A rash of caution flags from laps twelve thru seventeen, four in all would keep the field within striking distance of Whritenour.  The last yellow on lap seventeen found CJ Guererri glued to the rear bumper of the Whritenour #15 machine and it appeared as though Guererri could take home the $500 Bounty Money which the track placed on Whritenour.  However, that was not the case and try as he might, Guererri came up just a half a second shy of claiming his second win of the year.  With that the Bounty Money rolls over to next week.  For Whritenour it was win eight on the year and keeps pace with Sheppard in the win column.  Guererri wound up second chased across the line by one -time feature winner, Jake Karlnoski who finished third.  John Carpenter continues his strong 2020 performance in the class by nailing the fourth spot at the completion of the twenty-lap grind as invader, Kane Stebbins came home for fifth.
Josh Oles made the move this season from the 4 Cylinder class into the IMCA Hobby Stock Division and has found the class much to his liking with some solid runs.  However, on this night Oles would line up outside the front row at the start, stay in clean air throughout, withstand numerous caution flags and come home with his first ever feature win in the division.  With his win it breaks the four-race win streak of Wayne Ellison and for only the third time this season the class finds a different face in victory lane.  Marc Minutolo, the other feature winner in the class mustered up a third-place finish at the end as Justin Eldredge had one of his best finishes of the season coming home in the runner up spot.  Fourth at the finish went to Casey Wagner with Wayne Ellison rounding the top five.  Second place point getter, Bruce Kinner had a rare off night finishing tenth and will lose ground to Ellison heading into next week’s double point finale.
Like multi 2020 feature winners, Sheppard, Whritenour, Sobotka and Potrzebowski before him, Rodney Morgan was able to win the twenty lap IMCA Modified feature event for his sixth trip to victory lane thus far.  The 2017 Track Champion in the Nationally Sanctioned Division lined up fifth on the opening green flag, wrestled the lead away from Jared Spalding on lap ten and cruised to the victory.  Shawn Bruce who was looking to back up his previous win on July 24 was no match for the high-flying Morgan and had to settle for second.  Spalding drifted at the end to a solid third place finish after leading the first half of the event as he was chased across the line by another 2020 feature winner in Bad Brad Smith while Dick in the Dirt, Rich Karlnoski rounded the top five at the finish.  Throw a blanket over the top five in points leading into next week’s finale as any driver on the point leader board has a mathematical shot at the championship.
In the Mighty 4 Cylinder Division some seventeen cars lined up for their twenty-lap main event.  Bob Doolittle and Jeremy Bunn have dominated the class all year long with only a few other drivers able to break the juggernaut.  However, Scott Lehman Jr. in his potent front wheel drive machine was able to blast thru the field from his fourth row starting position and once out in front held off the best the class has to offer and claim win number two on the year.  For Lehman Jr. it was no cake walk as he had to hold off a determined Bob Doolittle who wound up second at the finish as well as his own father, Scott Lehman who claimed the third and final podium spot.  Last week’s feature winner, Kenneth Evans had another solid run finishing fourth while Jeremy Bunn claimed fifth at the end.  With his runner up finish, Doolittle can inch a little closer to Jeremy Bunn’s point lead heading into the August’s 28 point finale at the track.
In the Winner’s Circle Deli Youth Bandit Division Abby Decker was finally able to put things all together in winning the feature event after numerous runner up finishes to her brother Ethan.  However, Ethan has an insurmountable point advantage over Abby and Blake Parsons heading into next week’s Double Point show.
Congratulations once again to all competitors.
Friday, August 28, 2020 will find the Double Point Regular Season Finale which will determine the 2020 Track Champions in all classes.  The event will include a make-up feature in the IMCA Modified Division for a July 10 rained out event.
All the hype leading up to the night of action can be found by going to www.Facebook.com/OutlawSpeedwayLLC/
Gates will open at 5:30, hot laps at 6:30 and the first green flag will wave at 7:30.
With the point battles at a fever pitch you can log on at  www.outlawspeedwayllc.com for a complete update of the point standings heading into next Fridays Double Point Show which will conclude the regular season heading into the all new Outlaw Speedway Fall Series.  As noted in previous press releases and Facebook posts track owner, Tyler Siri and his girlfriend Jordan Lynch have added on two more full months of Fall Season racing every Friday night starting on September 4 thru October30, 2020.
As is every event at Outlaw the schedule is subject to change should New York State relax the stringent protocol of not allowing fans into the grandstand seating area.  In the event the ban is lifted, the track will revisit such events as the two-day 5th Annual Fall Nationals and Dutch Hoag Triple 7’s Weekend in September and October.
In the meantime, it will be business as usual with Pit Admission only as well as viewing on DirtTrack Digest.TV which continues to provide top notch audio and visual coverage for those who cannot attend.
The Fall Series will consist of the Friendly Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram Modifieds, Sunrise Insulation American Racer Tire Sportsman as well as the Hoosier Tire Sportsman.  Also included will be the IMCA Hobby Stocks, Stan’s No Tubes Street Stocks and 4 Cylinder Divisions making it a Super 6 Show.

KRESSLEY EARNS SECOND MODIFIED WIN OF THE SEASON AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

CHUCK ECKERT TAKES FIRST CAREER SPORTSMAN FEATURE VICTORY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. August 23, 2020 . . . On the previous Saturday night at Grandview Speedway, Brett Kressley was forced to be a spectator for the 30-lap T.P. Trailers Modified NASCAR Advanced Auto Parts feature race rather than a participant due to a disqualification after a heat race incident. He returned this week with a score to settle and wasted no time charging from his ninth starting grid to the front of the 28-car starting lineup. Kressley, behind the wheel of the Kressley Auto & Truck Sales No. 19K, passed Richie Hitzler for the lead on the 12th lap and went on to score his second win of the season to increase his career win total to 14.

Chuck Eckert, son of the late Chargin’ Charlie Eckert, led the entire way in the 25-lap T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman feature for his first career to become the ninth different winner in the division. It was an emotional win for him as he was so happy to be standing in victory lane.

Modified and Sportsman feature winners that met the necessary requirements received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and a certificate from VP Fuels for product awards. The Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award recipients were Kressley and Eckert. Jesse Leiby earned an extra $100 bonus from the track for being the highest crate engine finisher

Modified racing had Hitzler as the early pacesetter at the drop of the green.

The yellow was thrown with two laps completed after Craig Whitmoyer hit the backstretch wall. Ray Swinehart was also involved and they were both out of contention. Hitzler held his own on the restart followed by Brett Gilmore, Ron Kline, Kevin Hirthler and Kressley.

Kline and Kressley put on quite a battle for second which gave Hitzler some breathing room. Once Kressley cleared Kline, his next mission was to take control of first.

On the 14th lap restart needed when Kyle Weiss got sideways on the backstretch and slowed down causing Craig Von Dohren, left with nowhere to go, to make contact with him. Kressley was still at the head of the pack with second through fifth now comprised of Duane Howard, Hitzler, Kline and Louden Reimert. Trying to break into the top five was Mike Gular, which he did by overtaking third on lap 17 to pressure 357.

The front runners had a tricky situation to deal with as they approached lap traffic by lap 17 and had to use heads up driving.

With five laps remaining the running order behind Kressley, who ran the bottom lane in turns one and two and the high lane in three and four because he knew the order behind consisted of Howard, Gular, Rick Laubach and Weiss were in pursuit and he wanted to take their line away.

Kressley dealt with the lapped cars and never looked back until the drop of the checkered to be the second repeat winner of the season. Finishing second was Howard followed by Gular, Laubach and Weiss. Kline, Reimert, Ryan Grim, Jeff Strunk, last week’s winner, and Hirthler rounded out the top ten.

Heats were won by Hitzler, Jared Umbenhauer, Howard and Kline. Dylan Swinehart and Brad Brightbill, now driving the BMS No. 14, won the consies.

Before the first lap could be recorded in the Sportsman feature the red was out for a multi-car first turn tangle. The second try was thwarted as cars were spun in the second turn. Finally when action went green again Eckert was in the lead trailed by Scott Kohler, already a feature winner this season; Chris Esposito, Nathan Mohr and Kyle Lilick.

The red was thrown once again on the 11th lap when rookie Mark Gaugler rode the first turn wall with heavy impact. He was shaken up a bit and the car was destroyed. Eckert resumed the lead on the restart while Esposito, Brad Arnold, B. Hirthler and S. Kohler tried to unseat him.

Eckert, a former Enduro driver that enjoys competing at the 1/3-mile oval and feels he needs more seat time, never surrendered the lead and went on to win the event. Esposito, who showed sportsmanship and congratulated Eckert finished in the runner-up spot trailed by Arnold, B. Hirthler and S. Kohler. Sixth through tenth were Jack Butler, Kyle Lilick, Mohr, Ryan Beltz and Jesse Leiby.

LOLR Points Leader Wight Back On Track With 5th Big-Block Feature Win
Welch & Ridley repeat, Whipple wins 1st while rookie Burnell rolls to 4th stock car triumph

Canandaigua, NY – Aug. 22, 2020 – Tom Skibinski, Land of Legends Raceway PR

Pepsi Big-Block Modified hotshot Larry Wight topped tour rival Matt Sheppard on Saturday to score a narrow victory and pad his division lead heading into the final scheduled points event next weekend at Land Of Legends Raceway.

Veterans Kevin Ridley (Speed Connection Sportsman) and Mike Welch (Street Stock) each captured their second feature wins of the summer while Mike Emhof Motorsports 305 Sprint Car ace Jason Whipple pulled into the winner's circle for the first time in the 'Saturday Spectacular' at the Ontario Co. Fairgrounds.

Second-generation speedster Tyler Burnell continued to reign supreme in Hobby Stock competition, closing out Sherwin-Williams Paint Store of Canandaigua Night with his fourth checkered flag in six starts during his rookie year in Canandaigua.

With the 2020 season championships coming down to the wire, Wight wheeled his way ever closer to the coveted Big-Block crown as the Phoenix NY pilot proved worthy holding off perennial points king Sheppard in a late race duel to score the dramatic win by a mere .176-sec.

“I couldn't really tell what the better line was running up front and not knowing how Matt got up through there so I just stuck with what I thought worked,” remarked Wight, 27, who now holds a 28-point (392-364) advantage over north country campaigner Tim Fuller. “We bobbled a little bit getting through the holes in (turn) three and lost the nose but had enough drive to come off and beat him to the line.”

A solid 30-car field took chief starter Scott Hixson's opening green flag with qualifying heat race winner Wight filing in 12th to begin the 35-lap finale. Front row partners Jimmy Maier and Justin Wright swapped the lead early while Wight rolled his red hot #99L FX Caprara Honda-Tracey Road Equipment/Bicknell ride into the top-5 before 10 laps were complete.

James Sweeting suffered a right front flat tire to incur a yellow flag on lap 18, and only Billy Dunn separated Wight from leader Wright at the halfway mark. Sheppard began 17th and methodically carved his way to the front, riding into 7th on the lap 18 restart, cracking the front-five just one more time around the fast half-mile oval before dropping Dillon Groover to fourth on lap 21.

Dunn grabbed the lead between turns one and two yet before the lap could be scored Wight charged from third to first, relegating Wright into the show position as the trio crossed the line with 22 complete. 'Super Matt' passed Wright over the next half-mile but needed five more circuits to duck under runner-up Dunn and focus on front-runner Wight.

With Sheppard closing in fast using the low lane as 'Lightning Larry' continued to chase the high line, red lights suddenly flashed around the speedway after Jeff Lawrence's yellow #1 Bicknell entry mount sat disabled following a turn three rollover that required immediate assistance. No injuries were reported.

“When everything stopped there you start thinking which tire is going to seal first,” divulged Wight, after waiting out the 10-minute delay to safely clear the Lawrence car. “We rode the bottom in the beginning of the race so I knew my tires weren't too hot but you always have that in the back of your head wondering if one is going to seal up on you.”

Sheppard shadowed Wight on the ensuing lap 33 restart while Dunn, Tim Fuller, Erick Rudolph and Jimmy Phelps waited for any opening further back. With the top two again close to trading paint, Russell Morseman slowed down the back straightaway to set up a one lap dash for cash with $2,000 awaiting the victor.

Sheppard pulled underneath exiting turn four in a last-lap effort but Wight maintained his momentum, taking the checkers in a bumper-to-bumper finish with the pair even making contact immediately after as the adrenaline carried into turn one. Dunn settled for third ahead of Fuller, Rudolph, Phelps, Justin Haers, Wright, Ryan Susice and Alan Johnson, the only driver to post Top-10 finishes in all 11 events to date.

“Billy was running the top and we were coming up through,” added Wight, on the heals of his fifth career Big-Block win at LOLR, all coming since June 9. “I was able to get underneath enough guys and stay with him. Figured I'd just stay down there and try to conserve (tires) for the first 10 laps at least. It turned out to be enough.”

Pulling into 18th on the starting grid for the Sportsman 25-lapper left little time for Ridley to hold back, yet the open-wheel veteran showed his experience as his no. 20x Fred's Fab'N Fold-Champion Power Equipment-Lakeshore Auto Mall/Bicknell machine grew stronger as the race wore on.

“It was a bit of a struggle in the middle part of the race, I was like 'man, we're not getting anywhere,' didn't understand what was happening,” noted Ridley, 42, who now ranks second all-time (tied with Steve Gray) with 30 wins, behind only Paul Guererri at 45. “Our car felt good, just couldn't get by any other cars.”

“Then the caution (flags) just kept falling and we found the top (lane). We were just as good in the middle as I was around the top but its a lot of fun just beating the balls off it and holding (gas pedal) to the floor all the way around the top so that's what I decided to do,” said Ridley, a two-time track champion in wine country.

Baldwinsville invader Mike Phelps rammed the outside cement retaining wall just shy of the starter's stand to incur an opening lap caution and force a complete restart. Pole-sitter Rick Martin took the top spot back under green yet gave it up to his son after Dalton Martin charged from third to first on lap six using the high line.

While three more yellow flags kept the field bunched in the early going, a lap eight restart proved pivotal for Zach Payne as he blasted from fourth to first before the younger Martin regained the point crossing the line. Ridley moved into sixth with 10 scored and on a lap 12 restart the Waterloo warrior powered into third.

Payne again drove under Martin for the lead on lap 14 while Ridley needed another mile to slide into second between turns three and four. Ridley forged the final lead change exiting turn two on lap 19 at the same time Tim Baker stole third from Martin racing down the back chute.

Rick Martin's night came to a sudden halt on lap 22, forcing out the final yellow flag when his new Bicknell car slammed the uke tire low entering turn one, collecting Cody Manitta in the process. Ridley made short work exhibiting his superiority, building up a commanding 12 car-length advantage at the stripe followed by Payne and Baker (1st Top-10 of season) and A.J. Lloyd, after contact with Dalton Martin pushed him to fourth in the final rundown.

“Once I caught (Payne) I was watching his line and saw him slip up off the bottom there and made the move,” Ridley said. “Still thought we were going to lose the race on that last restart, don't know what happened. When we took off the car was stumbling and didn't clean out until we got to the flagstand. Thought it might do it again going into turn one but it never happened and we were good the rest of the way.”

“I knew we were good enough to get there (front) through the middle and bottom but to get there quicker we used the top. One and two were a little different but you could really run it around the top in three and four so we're happy with the result,” Ridley added.

Western New Yorker Sam Junkin couldn't be happier after his season debut ended with a trip to victory lane in the 15-lap Sportsman B-Main. Towing his no. 2 Dirt Works-Elma Press-716 Candle Company/Bicknell ride east from Marilla (SW of Darien Lake), Junkin overtook Texas traveler Chaz Thompson on lap seven and cruised home for a comfortable straightaway victory in his first race of 2020.

“I was watching the Big-Blocks and saw Larry and Matt and they went up high, then saw the beginning of the Sportsman feature with the #132 (Dalton Martin) making up ground on top so I said why not not give it a shot,” revealed Junkin, 26, who failed to qualify in his lone attempt at LOLR last season as a rookie.

“So I tried the top side and it stuck and I just kept my foot on it. Learned not to be a ***** on the bottom as there's a high side that's really pretty too. Its the first time I ever won a race going on the outside. We were really just using today as practice, think we got something good here now,” Junkin added.

Returning to his preferred high lane around the hallowed half-miler, Whipple confirmed he has a good car, especially after outlasting two-time winner Alysha Bay for the popular 20-lap MEM 305 victory.

“The (grounds) crew did a fantastic job with the track tonight, they brought the top (groove) in for me and that's where I belong, up top,” beamed Whipple, 46, the LOLR 305 points champion in 2017 when he logged all five of his previous sprint car wins. “Been trying the bottom the past couple weeks and it just hasn't worked out so we went back up where we belong … that was awesome.”

Rochester regular Steve Glover paced the pack ahead of Kyle Pierce, Ethan Gray and Bay as they battled three-wide leaving little room to err. Whipple wasted little time in his jaunt forward, darting from sixth to third on the opening circuit then blasting high around Glover rounding turn four to forge the final lead change on lap five.

Pierce appeared to be the fastest on the track after passing Glover by the midway point yet with 10 laps in the books Whipple still authored a 4-second advantage. Bay slid under Glover for third on lap 14 and after a smoking Gray machine brought out the only caution she stole second from Pierce on the lap 15 restart.

The Shortsville sprinter was up to the challenge, pulling away in his Paul Gavenda-powered #38 Bauer's Garage-Nu-Way Auto Parts-Termotto's Homescape/Maxim machine for a solid five car-length victory over Bay followed by Pierce, Glover and Darryl Ruggles.

“Was waiting for Ruggles (actually Bay in the #48A as the scoreboard read 48 and Ruggles is 48jr.) to slide me in one as we had turns three and four down pat but one and two were beating me,” recalled Whipple, who had just a single top-5 tally in his first four events, missing the initial three shows due to COVID-19 concerns and his father's health issues. “Yet knew if I kept it smooth we were good. Can't thank my crew, our sponsors and again the track team for giving us the chance.”

“The track crew got some bite up top, yet not too high. Their watering and packing (during intermission) made all the difference for me. Been a long time coming since we were last in victory lane, didn't know if it was ever going to happen again,” added a relieved Whipple, who returned for '20 trading in his black car for white, a proven remedy for any ailments endured over the past three years.

Flint Flies To CRSA Victory At Penn Can, Dedicates Win To Pete Richardson

CRSA Sprints Media Contact: Steven Ovens – turnfivemedia@gmail.com

Press Release – August 23rd, 2020 – Turn 5 Media photo

(SUSQUEHANNA, PA) – Penn Can Speedway has been awful good to Josh Flint in his Super Gen Products CRSA Sprints career. His last CRSA win was at “The Can” on October 15, 2016, with the quarter-mile track making up fifty percent of his tour wins. During CRSA’s July visit o Penn Can, Flint picked off seven cars to win the Eagle Enterprise, LLC Hard Charger Award.

Fast forward to a flawless night on Friday, the tour win column now shows three and the percentage of wins at Gary Folk’s Penn Can Speedway went up to sixty-six percent.

The only thing that Flint missed out on Friday night was a heat race win. The driver out of Cherry Valley, NY started fifth in his heat and made the Top 12 redraw by finishing third. With the stars aligning in the Susquehanna, PA skies- Flint drew the pole for the 25-lap A-Main.

Flint was intent on leaving absolutely no doubt, leading the opening three laps and putting a good distance on Dana Wagner’s No. 25w who advanced from the third starting position to second on the start. Lap 3 would see the event slowed to a halt with the red flag being displayed.

Thomas Radivoy was working hard to recover from drawing the tenth starting position and was working the outside cushion in Turn 3 with brute force. As he approached Turn 4 the right rear tire caught the cushion wrong and turned his Country Service Center No. 1Q hard to the right toward the track’s embankment. With Radivoy still hard on the gas, his Triple X chassis went airborne over the embankment causing severe damage, ending his night although Radivoy would be ok.

Once back under the green, Flint kept a safe distance in front of Wagner as two additional yellow flags slowed the field. Behind the battle for the race lead, Alysha Bay and Ethan Gray were dicing it up for the final spot on the podium.

Bay found traction down along the inside concrete wall, while the Rookie sensation out of Manchester, NY was trying to figure out how he could ride the cushion to sweep by off Turn 4. Gray would eventually get the fast line figured out and got by one of his mentors to take over third.

Sydney Prince was a part of that battle as well in her first start with CRSA this season. Prince won her heat race walking away and would cross the line at the checkered flag inside the Top 5. Unfortunately, Prince bypassed the scales post-race, resulting in a disqualification per CRSA rules.

Flint kept Wagner at arm’s reach to secure his third CRSA victory at the checkered flag. Gray held on for his career best CRSA finish with an impressive podium effort. Bay and Trevor Years filled out the top five- a much needed highlight for Years after having transmission troubles and a trailer flat tire on the way to the track.

“I was on the phone with Jason Barney tonight a lot, he’s helped me so much on this car since we switched over to X1,” reflected Flint in Victory Lane. But the emotion of the moment was quite evident.

“This win is for Pete Richardson. We got to race with him quite a bit in Patriots and he was just a great guy. This one is for him.”

Flint picked up an extra $100 courtesy of the Ruggles Racing crew who put the winner bonus up in Richardson’s memory.

For Dana Wagner, there were a lot of positives to take away even after coming up one spot short. Last time at Penn Can, Wagner went home with a tenth place finish and a damaged racecar.

“I’m pretty happy with second, we came home in one piece and the better guy won tonight. Tonight was way better than last time.”

Ethan Gray, his crew and his followers back home in New York were just ecstatic.

“Turn 3 and 4 seems to always bug me a little bit (here at Penn Can) but I got it figured out. This is awesome!”

Next on the schedule for the Super Gen Products CRSA 305 Sprints is a return trip to Paul Cole’s Land of Legends Raceway for a $1,000-to-win event courtesy of Mike Emhof Motorsports in Round 4 of the 2020 series. There will also be rolling top 5 cash bonuses on the line. The tentatively scheduled finale at Afton Motorsports Park is slated for October 9. Stay tuned for more information on this event.

“It’s Kinser Hill at ‘The Hill Speedway’, Young Driver Score Career First Win in Crate Sportsman Division” by Carol Houssock

On another beautiful Friday night fans and race teams flocked to The Hill Speedway for a seven-division show, sponsored by WOC Energy. Winners with just two points races remaining included Kinser Hill (Snell Metalfab Crate Sportsmen), Bobby Maynard (Street Stocks), Gary Lamphere (IMCA Modifieds), Matt Browning (FWD), AJ Lane (RWD), Chad Homan (Crate Sportsmen) and Mike Morse (Pure Stocks). Racing resumes this Friday night at the ¼-mile speed plant.

The Snell Metalfab Crate Sportsman division had seen five different winners in 2020. On Friday night a young man turned the place into ‘Kinser Hill Speedway’ with his powerful and dominating performance in their 20-lap feature. Heat wins went to Connor Brown and Joe Guastella to help set the field that found Kinser Hill starting in P1 with Guastella alongside. The first of seven cautions came on the opening lap when Dalton Maynard nearly hit the turn one wall. Through lap 12 it was Hill and Guastella leading the way. Tony Harris made some awesome moves, moved up to third, then he maneuvered the 9Cat to take second from Guastella. Behind that lead duo the racing was intense and involved Jason Benjamin, Rich Talada and Maynard. The final seven laps were run caution-free and fans watched the flawless run of Kinser Hill as he took the checkered flag with his career-first win over Harris, Talada, Benjamin and Guastella.

Things changed big-time for two drivers in the Street Stock division, one for the better and one for the worse. When Doug Stack, Jr. arrived at the track he was the point leader with seven feature wins. Earl Zimmer, second in points, arrived minus a car. Promoter Ed McKernan won his heat then turned the car over to Zimmer for the feature. It was a few minutes later when things changed. Heat winner John McAdam started from pole and led the first two laps before breaking. That brought Dan Force to the point for the restart where he led just lap three. On the next restart Bobby Maynard and Stack made a sandwich of Force and Maynard led. But he only led one lap as Stack got around him. A series of cautions slowed the action but not Stack, who went on to pick up the win. Post-race tech found Stack had an illegal engine and he was disqualified. That gave the win to Bobby Maynard, his first this year. Lou Sharpsteen, Force, Jakub Ingham and Bill Tice rounded out the revised top five. For Zimmer, the ride in McKernan’s car and seventh place finish keeps his title hopes alive.

Tangles on the opening and closing laps of the IMCA Modified feature did nothing to distract Gary Lamphere, who provided a picture-perfect drive to capture his first win this year. The race belonged to him and as he pulled away, he left behind an intense battle for positions two through six. Brad Sites ran second with Jake Maynard, Eddie Sites, Keith Jack Lamphere, and Keith Lamphere running nose-to-tail for many laps. As the white flag waved, it appeared they would finish pretty much in that order. Gary Lamphere took the checkered flag, but several cars got together coming out of turn three. That changed the final running order. Brad Sites did finish second, followed in this one by Keith Jack Lamphere, Keith Lamphere, and JW Lamphere. Point leader Jake Maynard got caught up in that late incident, lost four positions to finish eighth, and his 19-point edge over Keith Jack Lamphere is now about half what it was.

Four different drives led the FWD feature but for three of them it was for just a lap or two. Matt Browning’s fast #8 started the feature in position eight but he wasted no time moving up. Josh Bailey and Browning both got around early leader Greg McKernan on lap five. But on lap six Bailey lost the top spot and Browning never looked back. Adam Delgrosso was also moving toward the front and had one final shot at the leader when caution flew with four laps remaining. Browning prevailed and won his eighth feature, including six in a row. Delgrosso had to settle for second, with Bailey, McKernan and Greg Slater finishing in the top five.

In RWD action, AJ Lane likely thought ‘give me five’ a time or two leading up to their feature. Shawn Gowin started from pole position and led the opening lap after it took two tries to get rolling. Lane took over on lap two and had to hold off challenges during two subsequent caution periods. The first of those came when two laps cars got together just as he approached them. He managed to get by and then hold off Larry Colton on the restart. The final caution came when Andrew Collins spun and set up a four-lap dash to the finish. Lane picked up where he left off and sailed to Jamie Tuttle’s checkered flag for his fifth win this year. While his car won the title last year with Joe behind the wheel, this year AJ is on track to make it two in a row for the powerful 4 car. Colton held on for second, ahead of Anton Smith, Zach Bruce and Trevor Belcher.

The new Crate Late Models proved you could run a caution-free 20-lap race Friday night. Darrin Horton capitalized on his pole-position start and kept Chad Homan behind him for most of the first half. Homan found what he wanted and got past Horton on lap 12. For the remainder of the race the gap between first and second widened as Homan’s car was perfectly hooked up. The win was his sixth of the season, this time coming over Horton, heat winner Steve LaBarron, Tony Kelley and Ernie Martin. Horton remains the point leader over LaBarron.

Cautions, eight of them, and Mike Morse ruled the Pure Stock feature Friday night. Josh Parker had the pole and led the opening lap but caution bunched the field back up. On the restart Morse and Cole Burgess made Parker sandwich the took him from first to third behind that pair. Zach Kriner, meanwhile, slowly and steadily advanced through the field and took over third when Mike Chilson got caught up in a multiple car melee on caution six with twelve laps complete. Morse prevailed on that and one additional restart, keeping Burgess as his main chaser over the final eight laps. This time Morse defeated Burgess, Kriner, Casey McPherson and Chilson. In a division whose rules were established by car owners, Morse remains undefeated in points races at the track.

This Friday, Snell Metalfab is sponsoring a full show with 20-lap features for all seven divisions. Pit and spectator gates open at 5pm, with practice at 6:30, and racing scheduled to get the green flag at 7:00.

The Hill Speedway hosts dirt track racing through early September. Unique in that it has no grandstands, fan-viewing and family grouping is accomplished with blankets and portable chairs placed on a manicured hillside overlooking the track. Additional viewing is provided from turn four around to turn two with parking spots overlooking the raceway. Those spots are available on a nightly or seasonal basis for a nominal fee.

THE HURRICANE, STEVE PAINE PICKS UP FEATURE WIN NUMBER 2 AT OUTLAW SPEEDWAY.
Ajay Potrzebowski Sr gets win four in American Racer Tire Sportsman, Glen Whritenour and Jared Hill in Street Stocks. Alex Payne in Hoosier Tire Sportsman and Kevin Smith in IMCA Modifieds each bag second wins of season.  Kenneth Evans grabs first 4 Cylinder victory and Wayne Ellison in Hobby Stocks continues to be unstoppable with win number eight on the season.  Ethan Decker continues to dominate Bandit Class.
Story by Kenny Shupp Jr.
(Dundee, NY) For the second time in 2020, Hurricane Steve Paine was able to work his way into the Outlaw Speedway victory lane.  Lance Dusett and Boss Man, Tyler Siri brought the twenty- car field to the opening green flag for the thirty- lap event.  Siri would immediately jump into the lead which he would hold down thru numerous caution flags which would slow the race. Steve Paine and Alan Johnson who both have visited victory lane at Outlaw Speedway in 2020 lined up eighth and tenth respectively while current second place point man, Danny Johnson started eleventh. All eyes were again on Super Matt Sheppard who would line up twelfth on the grid and by lap seven was already up to the seventh position.  Track owner, Tyler Siri had put up an additional $2,000 to any driver that could upend Super Matt and go onto the feature win.  However, with Sheppard suffering serious right side damage to his potent 9s machine while coming thru traffic he made yellow flag pit stops to try and have the problem rectified finally exited the event on lap seventeen and was officially listed in the fifteenth position and with that the Bounty Money continues onto next Friday.  While out in front Siri was continuing to set a blistering pace, but Paine, the brothers Johnson and Eric Rudolph were starting to climb up the leaderboard and with the help of caution flags on laps fifteen, seventeen and twenty allowed them to keep Siri within the cross hairs.  Finally, on lap twenty-three, Hurricane Paine was able to set Siri up for the winning pass and from there went on to back up his first feature win of 2020 on July 17.  Once out in front, Paine was able to stretch the advantage to a full three seconds as he cruised to the win.  Boss Man, Siri was able to hold off a hard charging Jim LaRock to claim the second spot with LaRock trailed at the line for third.  Kyle Coffey put on the drive of the night as the pilot of the Sweeteners Plus machine started fifteenth on the grid, took full advantage of the caution flags, moved thru traffic and claimed another top five by finishing fourth.  AJ Slideways, Alan Johnson bested brother Doctor Danny Johnson by one spot to round out the top five.
The evening got started off with the Stans No Tubes Street Stock make-up feature from July 10.  Glen Whritenour, like Super Matt Sheppard had Bounty Money placed on him for any driver that can stop his current five race win streak.  In the twenty-lap event Aaron Miller would grab the opening lead which he would hold on to for just one lap before CJ Guererri would take over the top spot. Guererri looked poised to pick up his second feature win of the season building up a sizeable lead.  However, Whritenour had other ideas and although starting in the tenth spot, GW quickly moved thru traffic and was running third by the halfway mark of the twenty-lap affair.  It took the potent number 15 machine just one lap to dispose of the second-place machine of John Carpenter and on lap twelve cleared Guererri for the lead and from there would open the advantage.  Only one caution flag on lap sixteen would slow the pace and allow Guererri one last shot at Whritenour, but it was to no avail as GW coasted to his seventy-feature win of 2020 and sixth straight.  Guererri held on for second at the finish chased across the line by Jared Hill, Quinn Sutherland and Aksel Jensen who completed the top five.  With that the Bounty Money would now roll over to the regular night feature event.
In the night cap CJ Guererri and Jared Hill would bring the fifteen- car field to the opening green flag with Whritenour mired down in starting spot number eleven.  Hill would immediately move into the lead and at the half way mark of the twenty-lap feature he was still holding court at the top while being chased by Jake Karlnoski and Whritenour who was now up to third, however that is as far as GW would get as on lap eleven he would suffer thru mechanical issues, drop back thru the field and finally exit the speedway on lap fifteen and was credited with a ninth place finish.  However, while not on the lead lap and running at the finish the Bounty Cash rolls over till next Friday.  With the fifth and final yellow flag waving on lap thirteen, Hill just needed to keep his nose clean as with both Karlnoski and Whritenour now out all he had to do was keep Guererri at bay to pick up his first win of the season.  For Hill, Guererri and third place finisher, Quinn Sutherland and fifth place runner, Aksel Jensen it was a very good night as all four finished in the top five in both feature events.  Bob Buono chased Sutherland across the line to claim fourth while Jensen was fifth at the double checkers.
In the Sunrise Insulation American Racer Tire Sportsman feature Casey Williams would jump into the early lead and would hold the top spot until lap six when three time 2020 feature winner, Ajay Potrzebowski would wrestle away the lead, withstand four cautions and one red flag that would slow the event and go on to the win.  The red flag stopped the event for nearly twenty minutes as a bone jarring crash found current high point man, Chris Fisher taking a violent flip.  In all some eight machines were included in the melee including second place point getter, Zach Sobotka along with Kaiden Dgien, Billy Paine, and invader, Jim Spano who were all done for the night.  After the track was cleared Potrzebowski would continue to build on his lead as two more caution flags would slow the pace on laps eleven and fifteen.  From there it was clear sailing for Potrzebowski as he went on to feature win number four on the year as he was followed across the line by early race leader, Casey Williams who had his best finish of the year.  Third place went to Travis Grover, Kevin Stevens in his first appearance was fourth while Alex Payne rounded out the top five finishers.
In the Hoosier Tire Sportsman Division Casey Williams and Travis Grover who both do double duty in the two sportsman classes would lead the twenty -car field to the opening green flag in their twenty-five-lap event.  Like he did on American Racer Tires, Williams would again take the top spot on Hoosier Tires and lead the opening five circuits.  Grover would take control from there and lead the next ten laps before fifth place starter, Alex Payne would wrestle away the lead from Grover and go on to his second feature win on Hoosier Tires this season.  Zach Sobotka would recover from his incident in the earlier evening American Racer Tire train wreck to claim third at the finish and maintain his current point lead in the class as he was chased across the line by Tommy Collins Jr. and Will Shields who ironically sit second and third in the points. In all some seven caution flags would slow the event, but for Payne it again was a stellar night with his win on Hoosiers and a fifth on American Racer Tires.
In the IMCA Modified Division Kevin Smith would start outside of the front row, take the lead early and go onto his second feature event win of the 2020 season backing up his previous win on July 17.  Rodney Morgan who came into the night with five feature wins on the season and looking to make it two in a row came up a bit short at the line and had to settle for second place as he was followed across the line by one time feature winners in Shawn Bruce and Bad Brad Smith who finished third and fourth while Jared Spaulding claimed fifth at the finish of the twenty lap main.
In Mighty 4 Cylinder feature action, Kenneth Evans would take full advantage of his outside front row starting position to claim his first trip to victory lane in 2020.  For Evans it was by no means a walk in the park as he had to withstand pressure from four-time feature winner, Bob Doolittle in claiming the victory.  In fact, outside of Doolittle’s second place finish the top five was littered with previous 2020 feature winners as Scott Lehman Jr. nailed the third spot, four- time feature winner Jeremy Bunn came home fourth as Ray Hyer rounded out the top five.  It was a well -deserved win for Kenneth Evans as he held off the very best that the class has to offer.
The IMCA Hobby Stock feature found a familiar face once again taking the feature win as Wayne Ellison was able to mow the field down from his sixth row starting spot and go onto claim feature win eight on the year.  Brian Lloyd and Casey Wagner brought the seventeen car field to the opening green flag, but most eyes were on the top guns in the class with Bruce Kinner lining up ninth, two time and defending class champion, Marc Minutolo in tenth and Ellison in twelfth.  Consistent runner Jeremy Trank lined up outside the third starting row.  With Minutolo having problems and finishing well back that left the door wide open for the remainder of the field and like he has done seven previous times this season, Wayne Ellison was just to much for the competition to handle as he got to the front and left everyone else fighting for second place.  At the finish it was once again Jeremy Trank coming up just one spot shy of winning his first feature win of the year as he claimed the runner up spot.  Bruce Kinner continues to keep pace with Ellison in the point standings as another consistent third place run will keep in second in the point tally.  Casey Wagner ran inside the top five all feature event and wound up fourth at the end while Amber Pierce was able to hold off sister, Allison Pierce to claim fifth at the completion of the twenty-lap feature.
In the Winners Circle Deli Youth Bandit Division Ethan Decker was able to hold off Abby Decker for yet another feature win and with that solidifying his huge point advantage in the class as the weeks continue to wind down.
Congratulations to all competitors.
Coming up next Friday, August 21 it will be a Regular Super 7 Show with another make up feature from July 10 included on the agenda.  As per NYS regulations there are still no fans allowed into the grandstand seating area, however those that cannot attend in the pit area, visual coverage of the event can be found on DirtTrackDigest.TV.

BRANDON LOUCKS WINS INSINGER CRATE SPORTSMAN FEATURE AT FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY IN DOMINATING FASHION.
KIRKWOOD, NY…Brandon Loucks recorded his first Five Mile Point Speedway victory of the season on Saturday night in the Insinger Performance Crate Sportsman main event.  Other winners were:  Justin Slezak, Bob Hamm, Jason Colwell, Doug Newbigging, Aiden Elliot and Avery Decker.  Once again the event was run without spectators due to the ongoing New York State Covid-19 guidelines.  The victory for Loucks made him the ninth different Insinger Performance Crate Sportsman winner in ten races.
The 20 lap Crate Sportsman feature event started off shaky as twenty-two of the scheduled twenty-four starters made the grid.  At the drop of the green Matt Sobiech took advantage over Tom Hampton but it was short lived.  As the two exited turn two Hampton got a run and made contact spinning Sobiech around in front of the field.  Sobiech managed to do a 360 degree spin and pick up his momentum as the caution flew.  Sobiech would restart sixth where he picked up on the field with the spin.
The restart found a new front row in Blaine Klinger and Brandon Loucks.  At the drop of the green Loucks used the racy outside of the speedway to immediately take advantage.  Once Loucks took the lead he never looked back as he opened up a ten car length lead over Klinger.  Klinger ran in second as his weekly battle with point leader Gary Smith continued for the second position.  This allowed Loucks to pull further ahead as that duo battled lap after lap.
As the race hit the halfway mark Loucks continued to use the high side of the speedway to his advantage.  A number of great battles took shape throughout the pack as the race remained under green flag conditions.  Loucks would go on unchallenged to become the ninth different winner in ten races this season.  Klinger held off Smith for second.  Tyler Johnston drove from ninth to record fourth with Russell Benke, Jr. rounding out the top five.  Positions six through ten were filled by Joe Gustella, Matt Brewer, Sobiech, Seth Zacharias and Brandon Fritsch.  After the caution on the start of the feature the race went 20 laps without another caution.
Justin Slezak led wire to wire in the 20 lap Factory Stock feature event on Saturday.  For Slezak it was his third feature win of the season.  Ray Lindquist ran in second the entire race and kept close but could not make a serious challenge for the victory.  Slezak and Lindquist were followed across the stripe by Tommy Groover and Adam Gilbert.  Josh Towner finished fifth.
The 600 Modidifed 20 lap feature event was won by Bob Hamm.  Hamm took the lead from Dave Brown on lap 2 and never looked back leading the balance of the way.  Jason Sullivan rebounded from an early race spin to take second place.  Eli Akshar had another solid run by finishing third with Josh Mudge and Ayden Morgan completing the top five. A $150 bounty had been put in place on three time winner Brett Gray but Gray dropped out late in the event so the bounty will carry over to this Saturday night.
Jason Colwell recorded his first win of the year in the 15 lap FWD Four Cylinder Expert Feature event.  Colwell led the entire way to capture the win.  Dave Sims chased him down the entire 20 laps and wound up second.  Jock Symonds, Caleb Lacey and Kenny Underwood completed the top five.  Underwood bounced back from twice having his steering wheel come unattached to record fifth.  Four-time winner Tim Vandemark had a $150 bounty on him that will now continue an extra week as he dropped out with a broken axle late in the race.
Doug Newbigging recorded the win in the 12 lap FWD Four Cylinder Novice feature event.  He led the entire distance over second place finisher Gregg Slater.  Owen Clark, Bethany Bertram and Austin Slater completed the top five.
Third generation family racer Aiden Elliott notched his first ever win in the nightcap 20 lap Crate Sportsman Futures Division.  Elliott led every lap to claim the victory for that long time racing family.  Josh Mondak, Ned Fitch, Kyle Walsh and Eric Reese Jr. completed the top five.
Avery Decker was the Junior 600 Modified winner.
Racing continues this Saturday night as a regular program is on the card as well as the Northeast Classic Dirt Modifieds.  Saturday, August 29th will then end the regular season at the speedway prior to a new fall series starting in mid-September.
