We would like to welcome Gary Folk Jr and his wife Fran to the Thunder Mountain Speedway family. Gary is also the Head Flagger at the Penn Can Speedway and former Head Flagger at the old Shangri-La Speedway and Shangri-La II Motor Speedway. At the Shangri-La II Speedway, Gary had the pleasure of having me in his turn 4 corner, and will again at Thunder Mountain. How lucky can one man be. He probably should work for free.  8)

« on: August 13, 2016, 05:53:16 PM »
We dodge the rain until after 4:30 before the Monsoon hit. Most rain I have seen up there in my 25 years at Thunder. Power was knocked out too.

After a rare Monday night golf rain out, I finally had the pleasure to join Ron Hills's fun time group for some race trivia, good times, and laughs. After being banished from the winning table of Joe Buchek, I got to team up with Mr. Skyline Raceway himself and my old little league coach, Lester Brame, along with a couple other gentlemen. Good food and good times. Can't wait for the next Monday night rainout. Some questions about MASH, Hawaii 5.0, and Blazzing Saddles would be nice so I could participate.   GP

Racing Discussion / ARE YOU BURNING UP TOO MANY RACE TIRES??
« on: June 03, 2016, 06:42:38 AM »
Word in the pits and on the street is that tire wear at Thunder Mountain Speedway this year is as good as it can get. 3 to 4+ weeks is the norm. So if your tired of burning off a right rear or both rear tires every Saturday night, come try Thunder Mountain's soft, tacky clay and save THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS on your tire bill this year.
