Its been a few years since i raced. How do i check the tow in on a metric pure stock chassis?
Checking the toe would be the same as any other car. The best way to do it is with toe plates, but, you can get pretty close without. Just measure from the outside tread to outside tread. Try to get as high on the tire as you can and still have a straight line. But make sure you get the same height on the front and back.
Ok thanks. Now what should be the difference in the front of the tire to the rear?
Driver preference. On dirt, I usually like about an 1/8" toe out. (wider at the front). Always do toe out after you do caster/camber.
I bought a "one-man" toe gauge from Eastwood many years back and I love it. It hooks the tire on one side and has a sliding incicator on the other. You measure the back side of the tires, set the indicator to zero and lock the thumb screw down. Swing it around to the front side and the indicator tells you your toe in 32nds of an inch.
Ok thanks fellas for you help.
The one man-toe gauge is the best and cheap,I use it all the time in my shop.We run anywere from 1/8 to 1/4 toe out..
