Just a quick question. I have 373 gears in the rear end of my car, if i run a turbo 350 the rpm range is 5800 to 6000 i was just wondering if i run the power glide where would that put my range on a half mile track? canidaiqua (sp).
Your Turbo has an overall ratio of 5.66 if you run a 1.82 pg the overall ratio is 6.79 , that is too much gear for Canandaigua if you have a 1.76 pg your overall gear is 6.56 which is still pretty high , I know with the 6.56 gear you will be spinning coming off the corner. 3.42 gear with a 1.76 pg is 6.02 and that is a great starting spot if you have an average power engine with average bite, 3.42 with 1.82 pg is 6.22 , with that ratio you need some decent bite the keep tire spin to a minimum. Are you running Pure stock or Street stock?
With a 1.82 and a pure stock motor I would try 3.23's, depending on tires and bite, and track conditions you will probly turn about 6000- 6200, if you want more gear go up to a 3.42 that should put you around 6500 rpm , I dont think you want much more than that on a "legal" pure stock motor. I know guys that have run 3.73's in the streets there but they have big motors that turn 7,000 rpm, I tried 3.73's in a pure stock there and ran out of motor before the flag stand. Hope this helps.
RTC56 Thanks for the info. It is helpful
Just found out that you can only run a turbo 350

DIRT must have put that in place when they mirrored Ransomvilles Street stock rules to try and draw more cars, I would contact the new owner and double check with him if this will still be the case, you always used to be able to run a glide, I know he is opening up the rules to accommodate other cars that may want to race there in the street stock class, I have already spoke to him about that. After all what track would turn cars away when there are only 10 cars showing up

RTC56 thanks for all your help
No problem, I also know Mr. Unaman also has a wealth of knowledge about Canandaguia, and racing in general, his son has a lot of wins there, and they both usually answer a lot of my questions when I stop by their engine shop. Good luck this season.
