Wall Stadium closing after 2020 season or maybe not
« on: July 24, 2019, 07:01:09 PM »
It is being reported that Wall Stadium closing after 2020 season.  A housing development of approx 350 homes will take it's place.

However since the original report of the proposed shutdown/sale of speedway's 49 acre property, the Township of Wall,NJ has said the property is not zoned for residential and housing can not be built on the property due to it being in an airport safety zone.  They said there is no plans to re-zone the property.

I'm betting the town will add up the lost TAX revenue if the house's are not built and rezone that track property. Too bad the track is even considering closing, there will never be another track built to replace Wall Stadium.

Henrietta has left the tax rate alone but they upping the property values by gigantic amounts, I have two rental property's that are 50+ year old and in  2017 they were listed as 100% assessment,  1st house went up 39.7% and 2nd house went up 22.4% , last year a 3rd property with 100% assessment in 2017 and 50+ years old went up $50,000 in additional assessment, no updates or repairs were done.

Sadly, VERY sadly, we motorsports fans are the "red-headed step-children" of the sports world, and always have been, even years ago, when auto racing was at it's peak. State and  local governments will gladly spend millions of taxpayer dollars to build football and baseball stadiums, and in Rochester, even "pizz away" $$$$$ for soccer stadiums, yet when you mention motorsports, and/or motorsports facilities, all you get is "shut it down, it's a nuisance"....
