Racing Discussion / Re: Spencer, Chemung, and Lancaster

Cook, Evans, and countless local/regional drivers were once lauded for taking a frame out of a junkyard and giving it new life as a race car. Not so anymore. The six cylinder division at Spencer and WCIS is probably the closest embodiment to that era of true American 'stock' car racing that there is around here (minus the vintage cars).

I completely understand the sentiment from a fan's perspective, though. More power, more noise and ultimately more speed. As a driver, the same applies... with the added factor of safety. If you're ready to go faster, there's only so many MPH you can responsibly go with a modern unibody car.

« on: September 06, 2018, 02:03:24 PM »
Six cylinder (Super Six) stock car for sale. If you've always wanted to go racing, and get into it at an entry level division in a top ride, here's your chance.

5 feature wins in 2018 - 2 at Spencer Speedway, 3 at Wyoming County International Speedway. 2017 track champion at Spencer Speedway.

Car is built from a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, fuel cell, full cage front to rear, extremely solid. Comes with 3+ sets of wheels and tires, spare body panels, backup engine and transmission still bolted onto spare subframe, several other miscellaneous spares. Needs absolutely nothing. Hop in and go racing.

$3,500. Buy it now and go race the Shootout at The Bulling at WCIS in October. Any questions call/text 585-944-4922.

You could do that with the 4cyl maybe but the 6cyl are way too heavy for the infield track.

I'd bring my 6cyl over to test if they wanted to see what how one would look on the track and what the speeds would be.

Not a lot of room for more ground water up there right now. Hopefully Mother Nature starts cooperating.

I wonder if Oswego would have the six cylinder guys come out on a Fast Friday to test on a night Spencer is off?

I had never been there before last night, and I had a blast. Great racing, great atmosphere.

I went down for the race weekend. I had never been to Martinsville, but had wanted to go for a while and check it off the list.

All-in-all, I had fun. The entire experience was that of a "throwback." The place was dripping with history and nostalgia, but had numerous upgrades and amenities that are commonplace at newer speedways.

It's a hell of a lot easier to drive up to Oswego for their 2 big weekends, though -- and just about as entertaining. Sort of makes you appreciate what's in your backyard.

They have done a pretty good job keeping the 6 cylinder class at Spencer Speedway kind of stock right?  At least it looks like that from the stands.  They have built that class up nicely.

Yes. Best budget division around, IMO.
