Racing Discussion / Re: NASCAR question
« on: Today at 04:49:49 PM »
All of the practices were done when they started to work on Johnson's car.  There was no (accident-driven) scenario in which Jimmie would have needed his back-up.

Formula 1, if I recall correctly, does have rules regarding the back-ups in the rulebook.  I think each team (2 cars) is allowed a single back-up car.  At Indianapolis teams are allowed to have back-up cars - but there are provisions in which they cannot have a race-ready car.  This is where you saw differences when Alonso wrecked (took them days to be ready) versus Schmidt Peterson when Hinchcliffe wrecked.  SPM had the back-up car ready to go - they rolled it out while undoing the engine from the primary car, swapped engines, and were done in under 90 minutes.

Looks like a reasonably healthy car count, as well as some big hitters (Hirschman, Defebo, Coss, Wagner, Kochenash, Paules, Jones, etc.)

Racing Discussion / Whelen Tour Race at Wall
« on: May 07, 2019, 09:50:05 AM »
The NASCAR Whelen Tour Modified race for Wall Stadium is approaching quickly.

From the day it was announced I had full intention of supporting it.  Sadly, it does not look like my work schedule is going to allow that to happen.

While there is a slim chance that could change, what won’t change is my desire to support the track (and the Krause’s) for ponying up the money to host the Tour.

I am thus going to purchase 1 General Admission ticket and gift it to someone.  The tickets can be purchased online.  I will buy it and then electronically send it to you.

Here is how the winner will be chosen…

- Write up a few sentences on why you want to go.  Have you never been there?  You want to take somebody who hasn’t been there before?  You haven’t gone to a Tour race since the last one in NJ?  Etc.
- E-mail it to me.  My e-mail address is simple – take my screenname on this forum and then add @hotmail.com to it
- I will review the responses over this coming weekend
- I will choose which one I liked the best
- I will purchase the ticket either on Monday or Tuesday and send to you

Reply here with any questions.  Thank you for reading,
- (Michigan) Mike

He has just started putting stuff up and it is already leaps and bounds easier to navigate and find information.

pitslug - are you saying that they shouldn't have changed anything?  If you disagree with that statement - what would you have liked to see.

Paz is correct - 2021 is actually the bigger deal looming because of the contracts expiring with the tracks.  In that regard I think it is smart to feel some things out and test them out before looking at potentially even larger changes for 2021.

Saw somewhere that Pocono will essentially charge a "Sunday price" for both days, but that there will be multiple support divisions (Xfinity, Truck, ARCA).

Also - don't forget that NASCAR is creating the 2 week break this year to coincide with staying true to their broadcast partner who will be tied up with the Olympics.

Racing Discussion / Re: Whelen Modified Tour Fantasy Game

To those interested - there is a dropped race, so you can still compete.

Go to that website and sign up for the forum.  You can then go to the sub-forum that I linked.  If you still have issues shoot me a PM.

Thanks,
-Mike

Racing Discussion / Whelen Modified Tour Fantasy Game
« on: March 11, 2019, 12:40:42 PM »
Each year there is a pick 5 contest for the Whelen tour.  Wouldn't mind seeing some new blood join us.  It is for fun, and the cost matches the payout - zero.

Here are the full rules:

http://www.racerhub.com/forum/showthread.php?29097-2019-Top-5-Contest

Readers digest version - pick a polesitter and top 5 finishers in the order you think they will finish.  Points are based on how accurate your picks are.

Holler if you have any questions.  First race selections lock in exactly 5 days.

Points were simple - 50 for 1st, 48 for 2nd, 46 for 3rd, etc.

Here were their finishes for each of the 5 nights.

Hossfeld - 5 , 4, 2, 3, 7 (21)

Hirschman - 2 , 18, 1, 1, 1 (23)

It was the uncharacteristic issue on night 2 that prevented Hirschman from winning it.

Good call Dave, forgot about that.  I feel like it skipped a few nights, but don't recall why (maybe night of the K+N race)?

Updated entry lists yesterday
18 Florida mods, 20 pro late models, 23 super late models, 29 Tour Modifieds!
