Racing Discussion / Photos at Race tracks
« on: May 22, 2017, 10:47:58 AM »
So over the week end I was at a local racetrack that had a sign up that said " NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEOS " allowed per management.  Now I fully understand that tracks have photographers on site and these people sell their photos for income. I understand that if they do not make any money they will no longer be a service at the racetrack. BUT here is the problem with "NO PHOTOGRAPHY ", in an age of instant social media people will use their cell phones for pictures. It actually help to promote your track if people are posting things from your track. Facebook "live" is away of staying involved the race track even when other obligations pull you away. Racers use social media to keep track of our racing families that race other series or classes at other tracks. To try and ban photography and videos all together seems a bit over controlling and just reading the sign leaves negative impressions about the track.   Your thoughts are appreciated;

Racing Discussion / NYS Fairgrounds Show
« on: March 13, 2017, 08:52:05 AM »
I went back to the show for the 1st time in several years. I am VERY glad they still have something like this but I fear they won't for much longer. What I got for my $24.00 admissions for 2 people took me about 1/2 an hour to view. Yes I saw some beautiful cars, but "real" vendors were few. I guess the internet has killed off the need for the trade show. I still like to touch and feel what I am buying. I did actually spend about 1 1/2 hours there but that was just catching up with people whom I haven't seen in several months. -- I'm not really bitching, I just wanted more !!     I'm frustrated with the whole thing.

Racing Discussion / SPENCER SPEEDWAY 8/5/16
« on: August 06, 2016, 09:37:14 AM »
I must admit that I have done my fair share of track bashing against Spencer Speedway. But I must give PRAISE when its due. I was very pleased with the show last night. Good car counts and great racing !!!  The show moved along and even with the meet and great seemed to go smoothly.  Thank you to John White and the Spencers staff for putting on a great show.   Now we just need more like that !!!

Racing Discussion / ROC at Spencers .... Results ??

Racing Discussion / Racetrack Websites
« on: June 24, 2016, 01:11:10 PM »
In an age of information and the internet, RACTRACKS must realize the importance of their websites. They all have them and in todays world they are the face of the track and the sport. When I as a fan go to a website to search for information or special events that is my 1st interaction with the track. If I have a bad experience on the website I am already looking for other failures when I actually go to a track. As a fan I will often go to track sites to check on the progress of drivers that I know but don't get a chance to see all the time. I realize the time commitment it takes maintain accurate info light results / news events / point standings however it is what people expect from a website. This post is not to bash but encourage tracks to maintain their sites.

Racing Discussion / DRAG RACING QUESTION
« on: January 18, 2014, 10:06:41 AM »
I have a co-worker ( yes, its Saturday and I'm working ( yippee) ) asking what the rule is for roll cages at spencers drag races. He has a rice burner street car and wants to race it but does not have a cage in it and does not want to put one in if he doesn't have to.

Racing Discussion / How do you watch Nascar ?
« on: January 01, 2014, 12:59:14 PM »
I have been trying to reduce my bills and thinking about getting rid of cable. Although I spend time at the local tracks I also like to watch Truck, Nationwide and cup races when I get a chance. How can I do this on the CHEAP ?????

Racing Discussion / Congrats to Spencer's
« on: August 17, 2013, 08:52:06 AM »
Congrats to Spencer Speedway !  They actually ran a great show last night.  Great car count for the Dave London Memorial all laid out on the infield pit road.  The big thing was there wasn't and downtime for bullcrap. It Ran like a racetrack should.  Heat after heat, 15 min intermission and then features one right after the other.  The racing was great and the track moved things along. Don't tell the track owner but if it ran like that all the time I wouldnt even mind paying an extra dollar or 2 gate fee.  ( crap !!! did I just say that ?? )
