What ever happened to Phil Youngs, aka Bumper-jack. Is he still among the living? How about Dick Gamlin and another one is Ron Hall. Haven't heard anything about those guys in a long time.

Went to Phil's junkyard a couple of times when I was gathering parts for my first late model.  Last I heard he was in Florida somewhere.  I remember his Camaro-bodied modified, pretty rough!

Yeah, let's rejuvinate this thread. How about Dick Reagan? Blake Carnahan? Jim Hickey? Dave Hafner (although I think he was sitting in front of me at the Lancaster Open this year)? Wimpy Sipple?

Wow Blake Carnahan..holy sh... I haven't heard his name in eons.  Number 00 if I remember right a Corvair body ( at least the one at U/R I recall.

I remember Blake as being one of the first to use nomex undergarments and gloves...ahead if his time there. I also remember some guys mocking him

behind his back for it....calling him a F1 wannabe.  Blake it seems had the last laugh and I'm sure he didn't consider safety a joke.

Dave Hafner lives in Hamlin, and owns "a few" hot rods.

Jack Emerson is around. he comments on my facebook page from time to time. How about Eddie Thompson..think he ran supers and raced the ex-shampine 8-ball modified coupe on dirt a bit.

Eddie was inducted in to the Oswego Speedway HoF in 2012. I hear he still goes up there.

I'll toss a few out from My mid-seventies LM days at Shangri-La.

Mike Casterline
Duane Ellis
Cecil King
Dick Finnerty

I know ole Jim Zach is still around
Randy Hedger is an official with NASCAR in NC.
Pete Walker passed away an number of years ago.

and Denny McNally ( the guy I used to help) is off to parts unknown.

74' and 75' were good years for me.
Pete Walker was a mechanic a block from my home and I got to know him as any 15 yr old racing fan would. He was a nice man and politely answered any question I asked. The date escapes me but it was around 79-81. Shangri-la didn't have a retaining wall everywhere and I watched him and another driver crash in turn 2 and Pete left the racing surface. I didn't know until now how tragic that turned out. If my memory is incorrect, please let me know. RIP Pete

I believe Pete Walker was killed in a tragic accident at Oswego, not Shangri-La.

Pete Walker died from his injuries from a wreck at Oswego in 1977.

Pete was dring the Loden Brothers #29, that Mike Loescher had vacated. Mike stated to me the car was a "death trap".
