The hurricane put on a clinic last night great to see him win ,mascedo also on a rail really came on the 2nd half of the race those 410s were just flying. A very hard crash in the sportsman feature as the hoag girl was flipping end over end while getting hit several times. Had a blast the streets were outstanding also, missed the chicken ,the only downer was a little to dusty.
-
I went there once this year Charlie...Couldn't see half the track....
-
I thought the dust was manageable.
There were PA guys there - Ed Lynch Jr, Doug Esh, Zearfoss. Got to watch the Blaney engine change. Just awesome.
Lots going on last night and not all on the track. Zacharias catching on fire and then arguing with the safety crew about getting back in his car, then after the big wreck that Nicole Hoag got the worst of, trying to drive onto the track through the wreck! I get that you just wanna race, but when the officials tell you to park it, park the damned thing! It took two track officials, the EMS, two tow truck drivers, and a bunch of fans to get him back to his pit. Then his crew stood there screaming for someone to get Tyler Siri down there, and someone in the crowd had to lip off, which caused even more issues in an already tense situation, and there was a scuffle.
The cops were NOT there due to the fight, though. I chose to keep it local versus a 5 hour drive to Mohawk, and ended up with dinner and a show, so....

Sunny,
I appreciate virtually all your well thought out articulated posts. That being said help me understand your reasoning behind your belief Jimmy Z. shouldn't have been allowed to return to the track. I assume the fire was put out and the car was race-able? I don't have enough information. Just because an official said so isn't sufficient enough to prevent Jimmy resuming to race. Is there a rule that applies to a car where a fire occurred? Can you can shed some light....?
thanks in advance.
-
I will help sunny first a 10min delay because of the fire and then he stopped again on the track don't know if he smelled gas or what or his seat was hot but he jumped out of the car again delaying the show all by himself for around 25 minutes don't know if they have a 2 solo rule and your out someone from the track can comment .

The report from the safety crew was that parts of his car had melted, and they were concerned about a safety issue with that. He was told over the radio to park his car until a full and in-depth evaluation of his vehicle could be performed. He argued on track with officials and finally was pushed back into the hot pit area and the car was gone over. Meanwhile, we waited. (One of the reports was the gas cap hadn't been tightened. Not my car, no proof, so no confirmation.) They let him return to the track.
A handful of laps later was the big wreck that Nicole Hoag got the worst of, which brought out the red flag. My understanding is you cannot work on your car under a red flag, and the bulk of the accident and clean up was at the gap called "the lower road" where the features line up. It is evident that the 717 came into his pit area either to be sure there was no further gas leakage/fire concern. Whether work was done no one knows but them. But when he came back out, he tried driving through the wreck and clean up area. Red flag means stop. That means you sit your a$$ in a safe place until the race director tells you to move. He moved. Then argued with the back stretch flagger, the EMS, the wrecker crew and the safety crew AGAIN. It was ridiculous. And then for his crew guy (may be you, I don't know) to yell that he wanted Tyler Siri down there to clear it all up, there was no safety concern, blah blah blah. Bupkus. Live to fight another day, I say. That's why I agree with him being parked, not because someone forgot to tighten the gas cap. But common sense tells me I wouldn't be out there. There's still things that could have been affected by the fire.
Buy the video and see for yourself. Bet it doesn't show you the punches thrown in the pit, though. Not involving anyone from the 717 or it's crew or driver.

Thanks for the replies...it makes sense now. And no 'twasn't I :)
