EXPANDED SPORTSMAN FORMAT AT LoLR IN 2019

In talking with our racers and listening to the Sportsman racers across New York, we are making some changes to improve the competition for the Land of Legends Raceway Sportsman Class. Most drivers are seeking seat time to improve their skills, and we hope that offering up to 36 laps every Saturday Night for all entered Sportsman, that those up and coming drivers will be able to get the experience and opportunity to become the best. With some of the most talented Sportsman racers already stabled at the famed Canandaigua half mile, we are looking forward to more teams making the investment in coming to Land of Legends full time. Racers need to know that they can turn valuable laps, earn payouts/points, and a chance to be competitive each and every week.
In 2018, with an average of 25 Sportsman cars weekly, Land of Legends Raceway paid out nearly $75,000 in purses for Sportsman and will be distributing over $10,000 in point fund money amongst 18 different drivers at the upcoming LoLR Awards Banquet January 12, 2019. We want to payout even more in 2019!
We will be having two feature races each Saturday night for the Sportsman with payouts and points for all positions in each feature. Here are the highlights of our 2019 format for the Sportsman;
· We still intend to be DIRT Sanctioned.
· Payouts and Features for every entered team
· 8 Lap Heats, 8 Lap Consi(s), 25 Lap Feature A, and 20 Lap Feature B.
· Handicap Feature A, Consi results set Feature B lineup.
· Rookie Sportsman can choose to run only Feature B and start tail. Get paid and earn points. (New Legends class will be integrated here)
· Point fund money for everyone who enters 70% of races.
· Feature A Provisional available for cars in Top 5 of points (or within 40 points of leader)
· Trophy and Victory Lane for both Features.

Additionally, we are currently putting our 2019 racing season schedule together and are looking to kick off the season with a big Sportsman show.
Land of Legends Raceway is known for outstanding competitive racing on the legendary 1/2 mile every Saturday night. We look forward to more teams having the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of the greatest fans on dirt!
