FRIDAY THE 13TH PROVES LUCKY FOR NYE AT THE TRACK @ HILLSIDE

HOLLAND, NY...

The SST Modified main event started with Shawn Nye and Kevin Timmerman battling for the lead with Neal Dietz Jr

moving into third.  Dietz spun on lap 8 to bring out a caution and bunch up the field.  Two laps later, Dietz made contact with

the wall in turn 1, ending his race.  Nye pulled out a good lead at the halfway point, but Jeremy Haudricort began to close on

him.  Nye looked to have the field covered till a spin by Joe Alloco on lap 30 set up another restart.  Nye was up to the

challenge, holding off Hauricort and Joe Evans for the win while Scott Wylie nipped Kevin Timmerman at the line for fourth.

In the NYPA TQ Midget feature, Kyle Hutchinson took the lead from Chad Haywood on lap 2 with Dave Wollaber hot on

his heels.  As they distanced themselves from the field, Vinnie Christiano Jr. battled his way past Erik Musto for third.  As

Hutchinson and Wollaber battled in traffic, AJ Hessler passed both Musto and Christiano Jr. as Tony Hanbury also fought to

get into the top five.  When the race ended, Hutchinson had his fifth win of the year over Wollaber, Hessler, Christiano Jr.,

and Musto.

The Street Stock 8 feature began with Josh Hathaway and Ken Maltby battling side by side for the lead for several laps, but

Maltby's car started to get loose toward halfway and Hathaway was able to pull away and take the win, his second of the

season.  Following Maltby across the line were Jim Loffredo, John Carlson, and Chris Handley.

In the Street Stock 4 feature, Ken Hejna took the lead at the end of lap 1 and was able to hold a two to three car length

lead over Charles Palmer till just past halfway, when Michelle Russo lost a wheel in turn 3 and brought out the first caution

flag of the event.  Hejna held off all comers in the final run to checkers, scoring another win despite having a right front wheel

bearing going bad that knocked the brakes out over the final few laps.  Joe Brunka was able to run from his 12th starting

spot to finish 2nd ahead of Jason Anasiewicz, who just beat David Brunka for fourth spot.  Charles Palmer rounded out the

top five.

The Crazy 8 feature event was captured by Marty Hughes over Scott Pastorious and Ryan Palmer.

In qualifying action for the NYPA TQ Midgets, Kyle Hutchinson and Andy Nye picked up heat race wins.
