CR2 Motorsports to ROC Asphalt Modified Series in 2018

CR2 Motorsports with driver Kreig Heroth is proud to announce that starting in the 2018 racing season, the Fort Plain, NY based team will be competing full time in the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series. Kreig Heroth and team, led by Dick Myers and Dwayne Heroth are excited to make this transition from the Small Block Supermodified division at the Oswego Speedway. The team is confident that their time spent at Oswego has been a positive learning experience and will serve to be valuable for future endeavors.

Kreig’s experience throughout the last 9 years has been primarily at Oswego, racking up 7 feature wins, a Small Block Supermodified Championship, and Rookie of the Year honors in both the Small Block Supermodified and Novelis Supermodified ranks. However, the teams experience is quite diverse. Kreig’s other experience behind the wheel in the past includes piloting WKA go carts, ESDCA dwarf cars, the Cup Lites Series, and Sunoco Modifieds.

Moving ahead to the 2018 season, CR2 Motorsports will be also using a different chassis in the RoC Series. For the past 9 years, with the Small Block Supermodified and the Sunoco Weekly Modified, the team has used Ray Hedger fabricated machines. For the RoC effort, the team will be teamed up with longtime asphalt modified fabricator and racer Ken Barry, and will be sporting a Spafco Race Chassis Modified. Spafco’s long line of accomplishments stem from the creativity and master fabrication of Art Barry, and have had a lot of success in the Modified ranks in the Northeast.

Along with a full-time Modified schedule for 2018, CR2 motorsports will continue to campaign their Sunoco Weekly Modified at Spencer Speedway when time allows. Also, if a Small Block Supermodified remains in the stable, the 04 will still be registered and make select appearances at the Oswego Speedway.

CR2 Motorsports would also like to thank marketing partners Dick Myers, Little Lukes Childcare, Holiday Inn Express and Suites of Oswego, Ontario Orchards, Fajita Grill, Jones Construction, G&G Oil and Fuel, Midway Body Shop, True Value of Wolcott and Williamson, and Tim and Ellen Healey for their continued support.

OSWEGO, NY (November 12, 2014) – Longtime DIRT Modified car owner Dick Myers has joined forces with 2012 Oswego Speedway Pathfinder Bank Small Block Super champion Kreig Heroth for the upcoming 2015 season at the ‘Steel Palace.’

Following the announcement of Won4 Racing closing its doors at the conclusion of the 2014 Speedway season, Myers approached Heroth with the plan of building a new Hedger Fabrication Small Block Super for 2015.

“After our family made the decision to try it on our own, we purchased the previously campaigned Won4Racing car with intentions of continuing to run at Oswego,” said Heroth.  “After we purchased the car from Doug Soucy, Dick Myers approached us about building a new Hedger chassis and adding it to the stable.”

Heroth, who drove to one feature win at Oswego in 2014, accepted the offer and the chassis is due to be complete in the coming weeks.

“We plan to keep the old car complete as No. 04, as well as have the new car in identical form,” said Heroth.  “We’re excited to continue at Oswego with a first class operation and a back-up car, thanks to the support of Dick Myers.  We look forward to continuing our quest for a second Pathfinder Bank Small Block Super track championship, as well as chasing the goal of someday competing in the Novelis Supermodified division at Oswego.”

From Frankfort, NY, Myers owned DIRT Modifieds in the 1970’s and 1980’s for Johnstown, NY driver Andy Romano, as well as sponsoring the likes of Pat Ward.

During that time as an owner and avid race fan, Myers would often travel to Oswego to watch Supermodified racing, a passion that was rekindled this past season as Myers returned to the ‘Steel Palace’ to help support Heroth.

In 2015, Kreig Heroth Motorsports will move full speed ahead with Myers as a prime team member, as well as several valued sponsors including Little Lukes Childcare, Ontario Orchards, Save-A-Lot Food Stores of Fulton, Fajita Grill, G&G Oil and Fuel, Ray Hedger Fabrication, Fingerlakes Machine, Mojo Photos, and Cooper Custom Canvas.

Press Releases and Results / Heroth PR: Doug Soucy to Retire as Car Owner

Won 4 Racing Owner Doug Soucy Retires as Small Block Supermodified Owner

Heroth PR:

If you’ve been at the Oswego Speedway in the last 3 years, chances are you’ve recognized the Won 4 Racing #04 Small Block Supermodified driven by Kreig Heroth.  Won 4 Racing, a team started by motorsports enthusiast Doug Soucy in 2012 was formed to honor his heroes who have each won 4 Indy 500 events.  These heroes include A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, and Rick Mears.  Won 4 Racing has been a model of consistency throughout the past 3 years. However, after his 3 year tenure as a Small Block Supermodified car owner with driver Kreig Heroth, Doug has announced his retirement as a car owner.

As a fan, Doug Soucy came to the Oswego Speedway wanting to become involved with a team.  Throughout the 2011 season, helping Kreig when he could, it became evident to Doug that he wanted to own his own race team.  Moving into the 2012 season, Won 4 Racing would be formed, sporting a 2012 Ray Hedger Chassis, and all of the equipment needed to meet their goal, to win a track championship.  As the year moved along, and the consistent finishes continued to come, Won 4 Racing with driver Kreig Heroth was able to secure the points battle and live up to the goal of winning a track championship. Doug’s accomplishment was a feat that is rarely done, winning a track championship the first year as a car owner.

In 2013, Doug and the Won 4 Racing team was eager to repeat on the title, but fell short, still having consistent finishes and the red 04 completed every single feature lap at the Speedway.  Won 4 Racing ended the season 5th in the final point chase.

In 2014, Won 4 Racing continued the charge looking to continue their model of consistency as they did just that by having the most top ten finishes in the division and finishing 2nd in the series point standings.
Although it has only been a short period of time, Doug Soucy’s Won 4 Racing has been successful, and will retire with racing in 38 events, with an astounding 34 top 10 finishes, 18 top 5 finishes, 3 feature victories, 8 heat race victories, and an average points finish of 2.6.

The decision following this announcement has been made by Heroth Motorsports to purchase the car and keep it in the Heroth Motorsports stable at this time.  Future plans for Kreig aren’t certain at this time. However Kreig will continue to sport the “04” if returning to the Oswego Speedway.

These impressive numbers wouldn’t be possible without the continued help of Kreig’s sponsors which include Ray Hedger Fabrication, Little Lukes Childcare, Ontario Orchards, Fajita Grill, Save A Lot food stores of Fulton, Fingerlakes Machine, Doug’s Auto Advantage, G&G Oil and Fuel, NAPA of Johnstown, Mojo Photos, Dick Myers, and Cooper Custom Canvas.

Racing Discussion / Oswego cancelled tomorrow
« on: May 07, 2010, 01:06:21 PM »
From Oswego's site...

After a relatively mild winter by central New York standards, Mother Nature interrupted the scheduled start of the 60th consecutive summer of racing at the Oswego Speedway by dishing up a windy and cold Mothers Day Weekend complete with wet snow in the forecast in parts of central New York. Supermodified and Small Block Supermodified fans will only have to wait one week for the season to kick into gear as the Oswego Speedway management has decide to fill the vacant May 15th date on the schedule with the postponed Burrit Motors and Syracuse Post-Standard "60th Season" opening day.
