I think the curiosity factor will be enough to push the limits of the pits and grandstand. I love that little track and am looking forward to this race.

The race will be reserved for dirt cars only. Dirt tires will be run. Open and Crate engine combinations will be eligible to participate with staggered weights for each. All competitors entering this event will receive 60 points toward the STSS Sportsman championship battle; as such the ‘Summer of 69’ will be open to any driver wishing to compete.

I've been a regular participant and observer for years at Bethel. It is not "your typical asphalt track".....meaning, a low wide car is not necessarily the hot ticket.

Unlike most asphalt tracks where the momentum through the corners is everything, Bethel is run more like dirt. It is a small and very stop & go kind of track. The size and layout of the track provide a lot of opportunity to make moves in traffic, unlike the "freight train" seen at many larger paved tracks.

Although the track's regulars run well, I've witnessed outsiders come in with their regular dirt track setups and run really well. A few have even come in and pulled off a win in their first attempt.

Also, it is not really a horsepower track....many teams get by with less motor, but they have the handling figured out. Bottom line is that the skilled DRIVER has the advantage on this track. Negotiating traffic is the most important key to winning there.

GOOD LUCK to all the teams that give it a try....win or lose, I'm sure you'll all enjoy the challenge. Bring your fans too, it is a great place to view a race as you can see the whole track perfectly!

Bowman/Gray like (not mentality but size). A glorified high school track with pavement. Not a put down by me ..an observation.

I'm planning on attending this event , yes a curiosity, but also a novel idea...something different.

Thinking a Matt Sheppard type line around there would be the ticket. Maybe some tire soaking needs to be done ( WINK::)

Cute little place it is.

Max Yasgar's farm is/ was ? not but a few miles from Bethel Speedway. Who's Max Yasgar? Google Woodstock Music and Art Fair 1969.

Utica was a spry 14 year old wanna be hippie in 69' who hadn't discovered Jimi Hendricks yet .  There is monument to that grand event on the old site.

I might have to find a lava lamp and some sandals and tie dye.  :D :D :D

we went there on a road trip a couple of years back. cool little place. the dirt cars were fun to watch! I think the track also ran under the name 'Kauneonga Speedway' for a while. For the old timers, be sure to visit the original Woodstock site & the Bethel Arts Center (just down the road). Great videos, photos & memorabilia from the original Woodstock event.
