Wonderlings Looking For Little Valley Speedway Championship
…Friday’s Brock Young Memorial Very Important …

Little Valley, NY…Jeremy Wonderling is the defending Little Valley Speedway (LVS) Champion 360 late model champion and current point leader at the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds track.  Jeremy would really like to repeat as champion, but he has plenty of close company in search of that honor.

Jeremy leads the LVS points contest with 52 points.  Just two points behind are his father, Mike, and his brother, Mikey.  Yes, the Mike Wonderlings are tied for second with 50 points.  Close behind the Wonderlings in the standings and just as eager for a championship are Dave DuBois, fourth with 49 points, and Jason Knowles, fifth with 48 points.  The LVS point distribution is 30 points for a win, 28 for second, and drops one point per position to 6 points for 24th (last).

Friday’s Brock Young Memorial is a very important race for the Wonderlings.  Most important the race honors the life of their fellow Scio Speed Society friend, Brock Young and his family.  A Little Valley Speedway track championship is important as well, albeit at a totally different level.

Two generations of Wonderlings and Youngs have raced together over the past 30+ years.  First it was Mike Wonderling and Dick Young later their boys got into the act and life in and around Scio, NY has not been the same since.  The Young boys, Brock and AJ, along with the Wonderling boys, Brady, Jeremy, and Mikey all have played a role in the Scio Speed Society and area stock car racing.  Brock was killed in a 2002 highway accident.  AJ has stepped away from the sport to devote more time to his family and business. Stepped away, but he would still race occasionally if someone offered him a ride.  The Wonderlings are all still very active.  Brady races a super late model while all the others compete in the BRP CanAm (360 late model) Series.

Number 22… The number 22 is very important for this event since it was the number carried on Brock Young’s race cars.  If you think little things are not important to these rough and tough stock car drivers - you are wrong.  Mikey Wonderling’s car, the Schuyler #57j, will be renumbered to 22 for Friday’s race.  There will be hundreds of Catch 22 hats and tee shirts in the pits and grandstands Friday night.  The A-Main distance will be 22 laps. The winner’s share of the $7000 purse is $1422 or One Four Brock.

The 10th Annual Brock Young Memorial is set for Friday, July 13, at LVS.  This will be Bicknell Racing Products (BRP) CanAm Late Model Series Tour event #5 of the year and Tour event # 108 since the Series began at LVS in 2003.

Little Valley Speedway 360 late model point standings (top 10 of 26): Jeremy Wonderling – 52, Mike Wonderling – 50, Mikey Wonderling – 50, Dave DuBois – 49, Jason Knowles – 48, Dusty Waters – 46, Steve Watson – 45, Jim Johnson – 42, John Waters – 38, Buck Payne – 37

BRP CanAm Series point standings (top 10 of 39):  Bruce Miller – 370, Jeremy Wonderling – 336, John Waters – 332, Mikey Wonderling – 312, Dusty Waters & Mike Wonderling – 287, Brian Knowles – 243, Quinn Sutherland – 238, Jason Knowles - 237, and Dave DuBois 229

Little Valley Speedway gates will open at 4:00 with racing at 7:00 on Friday the 13th for the 10th Annual Brock Young Memorial.  Super late models, crate late models, E-Mods, and street stocks will all share the agenda with the BRP CanAm (360 late models).

Bruce Miller BRP CanAm Tour Winner At Black Rock
…Miller & Wonderling Staged Battle For The Ages…

Dundee, NY …Bruce Miller picked a great night to win his first race of the 2012 campaign. A full house, a great multi-groove race track, and a BRP CanAm Series Tour event provided the setting for Miller’s win in an outstanding race.

Bob Stilson, a BRP CanAm rookie, and Jason, the Jet, Knowles shared the front row for the start of the 30 lap contest.  Knowles won the drag race at the drop of Scott Hixson’s green flag and lead lap one by about one inch over third starting Bruce Miller.

Miller’s #80 showed on top of the scoreboard for the second lap.  He stayed there until lap eight when tenth place starter Jeremy Wonderling powered by on the bottom. From that point until the checkered flags flew Miller and Wonderling staged a battle for the ages.  Miller busting the berm with Wonderling bottom feeding.  This side-by-side duel went on lap after lap.  Wonderling’s short way around usually had him leading out of the turns while Miller was dancing with the devil against and often over the berm.  The score sheets reflect Miller leading laps two – seven, Wonderling eight - ten, Miller eleven, Wonderling twelve – nineteen, and Miller twenty – thirty, but all of that was only at the finish line.

While Miller and Wonderling battled for the top spot John Waters was slowly making his way towards the front.  Waters, a ten time winner in BRP CanAm racing this year, started tenth and made no forward progress for the first half of the race. Waters first showed in the top five on lap 22.  The Whitesville, NY driver moved up to fourth on lap 23 and third on lap 24.  Waters now trailed Miller and Wonderling by about 10 car lengths and was closing fast. Waters caught Wonderling with two laps to go, but time had run out and the winningest dirt late model driver in the northeast had to settle for the show spot.

Mikey Wonderling drove Jim and Sharon Schuyler’s Himrod Hot Rod from 11th at the start to fourth at the checkers.  Jason Knowles had another solid run in the Doug Gross Construction #4 to round out the top five. Mike Wonderling, Dusty Waters, Bob Stilson, Jared Hill, and Jimmy Johnson completed the top ten.

The Dart Machinery Hard Charger was Jeremy Wonderling who gained seven positions from ninth at the start to second at the finish.  John Waters and Mikey Wonderling also advanced seven positions; however, the award goes to the higher finisher in the event of a tie.

In BRP CanAm Victory Lane Miller shared, “I could not have done that for many more laps.  It is so hard racing on the edge.  The guys who prepped this track did an outstanding job.  We had multiple fast smooth racing lanes and no dust.  No dust on a sunny and windy 100 degree day really shows that with some extra effort we can have great race tracks.  It was a lot of fun racing with Jeremy.  We never touched and raced side-by-side for what seemed like 100 laps.  I am really beat!  We finally made it to Victory Lane.  We have been close a few times this year, but close doesn’t really count in this business.  It will be a much more pleasant two hour ride home tonight.  The focus now is to win Brock’s race next week at Little Valley.”

Other winners tonight included Ross Vleck (crate sportsman), Chris Fisher (street stocks), and Dick Karlnoski (IMCA modifieds).  The evening concluded with four cylinder races after an outstanding fireworks display billed as a $10,000 show. The sky was ablaze with color and the earth rumbled with explosions.  The show was worth every penny of Dean Hoag’s $10,000 investment to please the packed house.

The BRP CanAm program and fireworks program were underwritten, in part, by the Douglas B. Miles Insurance Agency of Dundee as they celebrate 100 years in the insurance business.  They truly do go the extra mile!

Douglas B Miles Insurance Presents July 6 Black Rock Speedway Program
…BRP CanAm Tour, Fireworks, Bicycle Give A- Way, & more…

Dundee, NY…The Douglas B. Miles Insurance Agency is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year.  One of the many events planned for the Anniversary celebration is the Friday July 6 program at Black Rock Speedway.

Furman Kendall, president of the Miles Agency, and Dean Hoag, owner and operator of Black Rock Speedway have partnered to present a block-buster program with something for everybody. Stock car racing, a $10,000 fireworks display, and bicycle give-a-way will provide the main ingredients for what promises to be a great night of family entertainment.

“This is a very special year for the agency as we celebrate 100 years in the insurance business.  Many of our customers are race fans. Even our Dundee neighbors that are not customers are always cheering on Quinn Sutherland in his Miles-Agency.com BRP race car.  To help celebrate the BRP Tour event and 100 years we will give away three bicycles to kids in attendance on the 6th.  All they have to do is sign-up and hope that Rocky (track mascot) pulls their name from the entries.  Exciting stock car races, a giant fireworks program, free bikes, and good friends all add up to a great night in downtown Dundee,” shares Kendall from this office in the heart of Dundee’s business district.

The highlight of the stock car racing program will be the Bicknell Racing Products (BRP) CanAm Late Model Series tour event.  The BRP CanAm Series is celebrating its 10th anniversary season. Prior to Friday’s race 59 drivers have entered 29 BRP CanAm events which have produced nine different winners.  Friday night the drivers will be vying for a $6000 purse and the very important points for the overall Series point fund of approximately $40,000.

Local Flavor…Carl Cleveland, Jared Hill, Bill Miller, and Quinn Sutherland are the Dundee drivers that will compete.  Sutherland’s car is sponsored, in part, by the Miles Agency.  Sutherland’s family and friends will view the racing and the fireworks from the Miles Agency VIP suite. Mikey Wonderling, the defending Black Rock Speedway late model champion, is winless so far this year.  Wonderling drives the Himrod Hot Rod owned by Sharon and Jim Schuyler of Himrod.  The pressure is on Mikey at every race, but the Himrod connection makes winning at Black Rock very important.

Joining the BRP CanAm late models on the July 6 racing schedule are sportsman, street stocks, 4 cylinder stocks, and IMCA modifieds.

When the racing action is complete the biggest, best, and most expensive ($10,000+) fireworks display will light the sky over Dundee.

During the evening three kids will win bicycles.  All that is required is to sign in and be there when their name is called.  There will be three drawings – one for little kids – one for girls – one for boys.  All bikes are courtesy of Douglas B. Miles Insurance Agency.

The Miles Agency would be delighted to become your insurance agency contact them at www.Miles-Agency.com , call 607-243-7200, or stop in at 23 Main Street in Dundee.  They will go the extra mile!

Black Rock Speedway gates will open at 5:00 on Friday.  The racing action will start at 7:00.  More information at www.BlackRockSpeedway.com

BRP Dart Challenge Returns To Black Rock
   …Round #3 Set For Friday June 29…

Dundee, NY… Dean Hoag, owner and promoter of Black Rock Speedway, will host round three of the Bicknell Racing Products (BRP) Dart Challenge on Friday June 29.  Black Rock has taken a couple of weeks off for events other than stock car racing.  That will all change in a very big way on the 29th when the BRP late models return.

To date John Waters and Mike Wonderling have scored wins in the four late model events completed at Black Rock. John Waters owns three of the four trophies and Mike Wonderling is the most recent winner.  Included in the Waters’ trophy collection is the reward for winning the opening round of the 2012 BRP Dart Challenge last month.

Waters also won round two of the Challenge.  That win came at Little Valley Speedway on June 8.  As a result Waters, the 2011 BRP Dart Challenge champion, heads the point standings.

It is too early to focus on points, but Jason (The Jet) Knowles is looking.  This second generation race car driver is off to a solid start with his 2012 racing program.  Solid, but without a win at this point.  The Jet was second to Waters in the Challenge opener and fourth at Little Valley. Those finishes have produced 180 points, just 20 fewer than Waters.  Jason is a former Black Rock late model champion and is looking forward to his return to the high speed Dundee, NY oval.

Jeremy Wonderling, the defending BRP CanAm Late Model Series champion, is tied with Knowles for second in the early Challenge standings.  Wonderling is also a former Black Rock late model champion and anxious for a win on the fast wide blue clay track.

The BRP Dart Challenge is a cooperative effort between Little Valley Speedway and Black Rock Speedway with three events at each track.  Primary marketing partners of the Challenge are Bicknell Racing Products of St. Catharines, Ontario and Dart Machinery of Troy Michigan.  The Challenge offers a $3000 point fund for the six events.  BRS hosted round #1 of the Challenge and will host rounds #3 and #5.  LVS gets the even number rounds.

2012 BRP Dart Challenge:
#1 May 18 – Black Rock Speedway – top 3: John Waters, Jason Knowles, Bruce Miller
#2 June 8 – Little Valley Speedway – top 3: John Waters, Jeremy Wonderling, Mike Wonderling
#3 June 29 – Black Rock Speedway
#4 July3 – Little Valley Speedway
#5 August 3 – Black Rock Speedway
#6 August 29 – Little Valley Speedway

Point standings (top 10 of 26) as of June 9: John Waters 200, Jason Knowles 180, Jeremy Wonderling 180, Bruce Miller 158, Jared Hill 145, Mike Wonderling 134, Dave DuBois 130, Dusty Waters 124, Mikey Wonderling 120, and Brian Knowles 119

Jason Knowles and Jon Rivers Join The BRP CanAm Winners List
…21 events have produced 9 different winners …

St Catharines, ONT. …The Bicknell Racing Products (BRP) CanAm Late Model Series has two new winners after last weekends racing action.  Jason Knowles won his first of the year at Woodhull and Jon Rivers won his first of 2012 at Raceway 5.  Both drivers have won in prior years, but neither had been able to break out for year 10 of the Series.

As of June 24 there have been 21 BRP CanAm events which have produced 9 different winners.  John Waters leads in total wins with eight, Dave DuBois has four, Glenn Whritenour and Mike Wonderling each have two A-Main wins as the unofficial mid-season has arrived.   Those are the only drivers with multiple wins.  Adam DePuy, Jason Knowles, Jon Rivers, Dusty Waters, and Jeremy Wonderling each have single wins.

Woodhull Raceway has completed eight events.  John Waters leads the win list there with four.  He is followed by five time Woodhull late model champion Glenn Whritenour with two wins.  Mike Wonderling and now Jason Knowles are others currently eligible of the Race of Champions, but it is still early since Woodhull will race until October.

Raceway 5 has completed seven events with Dave DuBois owning four of Jim Mazur’s winner’s trophies. Adam DePuy, Jon Rivers, and Jeremy Wonderling are the other Raceway 5 winners to date.

Black Rock Speedway (BRS) will be the site of the next BRP CanAm event when Dean Hoag hosts round #3 of the BRP Dart Challenge on Friday June 29.  John Waters has been the big BRS winner so far.  Waters has won three of the four events completed.  Mike Wonderling was the most recent BRS winner.

Little Valley Speedway’s specials only format lists only six events for the 2012 racing season.  Two have been completed with the Waters brothers (Dusty and John) sharing the glory there.  LVS will host two events in July.  First, Tuesday July 3, round #4 of the BRP Dart Challenge and then on Friday July 13 the Cattaraugus County Agricultural Society (owner and operator of Little Valley Speedway) will host the 10th Annual Brock Young Memorial.  Brock’s race will be BRP CanAm Series Tour event # 5.

Come join us for some great racing action as year 10 of the BRP CanAm Series nears the mid-season mark.  Information at www.BRPCanAmSeries.com

John Waters Continues Winning
…2012 Win #8 Comes In BRP Dart Challenge…

Little Valley, NY – 6/8/2012…John Waters is having a dream season in Bicknell Racing Products (BRP) CanAm Series racing.  Series win number eight of the year came at Little Valley Speedway in round two of the BRP Dart Challenge.

Waters’ dream season is causing nightmares for the other BRP race teams.  Jeremy Wonderling almost woke Waters out of the dream on Friday night.

Not only is Waters good, his car is absolutely perfect, and he is having some good luck.  Tonight his good luck started when he drew chip #2 for the start of the A-Main.  When this guy gets a head start his odds go way up while everyone else realizes it could be a long night.

The Whitesville, NY under-water construction worker blasted past pole starting Steve Watson at the drop of John Powell’s green flag and was off to the races.  But wait, Waters wasn’t running away.  Mike Wonderling (who started his racing career driving for Waters’ father) wasn’t ready to simply give up.  Mike stayed tight to Waters’ Rear crash bar until his son, Jeremy, blasted by on the outside to take up the chase for Waters and the checkers. Waters ran the low side while Jeremy made the half-mile almost a 5/8 mile with a dance with the devil way up on top.

“I could hear him (Jeremy Wonderling) back there and saw his number on the scoreboard so I knew I had to stay up on the wheel.  I actually thought about changing lanes in three and four since I was losing some momentum on the bottom.  I’m sure glad that I stayed where I was.  We were really disappointed to not win here a couple of weeks ago.  This doesn’t make up for that, but it is better than second or worse,” shared Waters during tech inspection.

Following Waters and Jeremy Wonderling at the checkers was Mike Wonderling in a very strong run.  This almost makes up for Mike’s disappointing DNF in the opening round of the BRP Dart Challenge at Black Rock last month.  Almost, but first or second would have been a lot better.

Jason Knowles earned the Dart Machinery Hard Charger Award with his great run from 16th at the start to fourth at the finish.  Knowles was second in the Challenge opener and sits just 20 points behind Waters as the Challenge moves back to Black Rock on June 29.

Steve Watson showed up at Little Valley on May 27 for his first race since 2010.  He finished 10th that night and nobody paid too much attention to Watson and his old Tassis hot rod.  Watson served notice that you do not need a new car to run up from with his fine fifth place finish on Friday.  Watson earned the Douglas B. Miles Insurance Rookie of the Race award.

F/A Products Engine Builder heat race winners were Brian Knowles, John Waters, and Mike Wonderling.

Notes…Waters now owns four wins at Woodhull, three at Black Rock, and one at Little Valley.  Included are two BRP CanAm Tour events at Woodhull and the opening BRP Dart Challenge at Black Rock… Gater Racing Photo News Leader of the Pack Award winner was DJ Krug…
Jim Johnson was back in his 93j and had a very strong run from 14th at the start to 6th at the finish…Dave DuBois, Johnson’s team mate, was robbed of a heat race win and redraw opportunity when attire went flat and he went around while leading …JJ Mazur was a late arrival in his beautiful black and purple LoLine CTS…Cecil LaBarron was even later in arriving after his 200+ mile commute from Carlisle, PA…Round #3 of the BRP Dart Challenge will be Friday June 29 at Black Rock

BRP Dart Challenge @ Little Valley Friday
   …Dusty Waters Looking For A Repeat Victory…

Little Valley, NY…Dusty Waters will head west from his Portville, NY home to Little Valley Speedway (LVS) Friday for round two of the six round Bicknell Racing Products (BRP) Dart Challenge.  It will be an easy 65 MPH ride down Interstate Route 86 to the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds and the Speedway.  After the Interstate ride it will be a totally different deal as Dusty takes to the super fast LVS half-mile clay oval.

Waters won the Memorial Day Weekend BRP CanAm Late Model Series Tour event.  He will have the same setup in his Evingham Site Excavation CRS Camaro Friday with high hopes for a repeat victory.

Based on 2012 BRP CanAm late model race statistics it should be a Waters in Victory Circle at the end of the event.  Dusty’s older brother, John, won round one of the BRP Dart Challenge at Black Rock Speedway (BRS) last month.  In fact, John has been winning a lot of races this year. John is three for three at Black Rock and has been in the Woodhull Raceway Victory Circle four times in the first six weeks of the 2012 season.

BRP CanAm Tour or BRP Dart Challenge event makes little difference as most of the BRP CanAm Late Model Series teams really enjoy racing at LVS.  LVS’s specials only format yields neutral grounds for the competitors that race weekly at Black Rock, Raceway 5, and Woodhull Raceway.

The BRP Dart Challenge is a cooperative effort between John Charlesworth of LVS and Dean Hoag of BRS with three events at each track.  The Challenge offers a $3000 point fund for the six events.  BRS hosted round #1 of the Challenge and will host rounds #3 and #5.  LVS gets the even number rounds. BRS has removed the BRP cars from their schedule on Friday to support the Challenge program.

Heading the list of drivers hoping to stop the Waters brothers Friday night are Bruce Miller and Jeremy Wonderling.  Miller is the winningest BRP CanAm driver at LVS and Wonderling is the defending Champion.

Dave DuBois is high on the list of drivers that must be considered favorites to win on Friday.  DuBois won at LVS last year, was second to Dusty at LVS last month, and has won twice at Raceway 5 in four starts at that track.

The Knowles boys (Brian & Jason) are both fast everywhere they have raced this year.  Jason won a BRP Dart Challenge at Black Rock last year.  Neither has a 2012 win and both are over-due.

Others that are over-due for a win include Quinn Sutherland and Jim Johnson.  Both of these drivers own a BRP Dart Challenge trophy from prior years. The father – son duo of Mike and Mikey Wonderling are always in the hunt and looking forward to a LVS win. Bob Close does not race weekly, but always runs near the front in the LVS specials. Close has won in super late model action at LVS, but is still looking for his first BRP CanAm LM win.

Little Valley Speedway gates will open at 4:00 on Friday (June 8).  Cars will go on the track for hot laps at 6:00 and the first green flag at 7:00.  LVS information @ LittleValleySpeedway.com

Waters Little Valley BRP CanAm Tour Winner
   …Dusty Not John…

Little Valley, NY (Sunday May 27)…Waters wins again, but this time it was Dusty – not John.

Dusty Waters – John’s younger brother - was in the right place at the right time and emerged the winner of BRP CanAm Series tour event at Little Valley Speedway on Sunday night.  John is two for two in 2012 BRP CanAm Tour events.  Sunday night it was Dusty’s turn for Victory Lane celebration.

John Waters started on the pole and lead until lap 15 when a power steering line broke and he parked his smoking car in a the infield. Bruce Miller had charged from his ninth starting spot to second when Waters withdrew and the scoreboard showed Miller’s #80 in the top spot.

The score sheets then reflect Miller, Jeremy Wonderling, Dusty Waters, Dave DuBois, and Glenn Whritenour in the to five positions. One laps later (lap 16) Whritenour’s car came to a stop with a blown engine and the caution lights came on for the first and only time in the 20 lap contest.

Dusty was running third entering turn four of the last lap behind race leader Bruce Miller and challenger Jeremy Wonderling.  Wonderling’s attempt at an inside pass resulted in contact with Miller and a big time scramble to the checkered flag was on.  Dusty went to the high side and rode his Evingham Site Services CRS Camaro to victory.  His first BRP CanAm tour win and second ever in BRP late model racing.

Dave DuBois followed Waters’ escape route and earned runner-up honors for his best BRP CanAm tour finish of the early season.  DuBois owns two Raceway 5 BRP CanAm weekly event wins, but has had tough luck and two DNFs on the Tour

Jeremy Wonderling crossed the line third, but was penalized three positions for his part in the altercation.  That moved his brother, Mikey, to third, Bob Close to fourth, and Miller to fifth.

Notes: Dusty’s other win was a BRP Dart Challenge at Little Valley last September…first time 2012 starters were Bob Close, Steve Watson, DJ Krug, Jon Rivers, and Alan Wais…Jim Johnson was driving the Jimmy Johnson #39j after a tough night at Raceway 5 on Saturday left the #93j out of commission…unofficial points after three of seven Tour events Miller – 270, J Waters – 242, J Wonderling -241, My Wonderling – 227, Whritenour 225

John Waters Repeats Woodhull BRP CanAm Tour Win
   …Top Three Repeat…

Woodhull, NY (Friday May 25)…John Waters continues to win whenever and wherever he shows up with Dale LeBarron’s Troups Creek Auto Parts CRS Camaro.  Clearly this team is established as the team to beat in Bicknell Racing Products (BRP) CanAm Late Model Series racing for 2012.

Waters’ most recent win came on Friday night at Woodhull Raceway in the second Series tour event for 2012.  He is now two for two on the tour.  In addition he has won a Series weekly event at Woodhull, the BRP Dart Challenge event at Black Rock Speedway (BRS) and two Series weekly events at BRS.

Not only did Waters repeat, but the top three repeated from the Series tour opener at Woodhull in April.  Bruce Miller and Glenn Whritenour finished second and third in an outstanding “under a blanket” finish inches behind Waters.

Waters won his heat and earned the opportunity to redraw for the A-Main.  He drew #12 of 12 with several heavy hitters in front of him for the start of the 30 lap contest.  The stage was set for a great show and overall it was a great show. Waters broke into the top five on lap nine, up to fourth by lap eleven, third by lap fourteen, and second behind Brian Knowles on lap sixteen.

A great battle turned from green to yellow on lap twenty two when Knowles got crossed up in turn two and Waters made slight incidental contact.  Knowles went around and out of the lead.  Track and Series officials made the call that no penalties were required.  No black flag for the spin and no penalty for the contact. It was simply a racing deal between two great competitors racing at high speed closer than we park our cars in the shopping mall parking lot.  Knowles charged from the rear to finish eighth in what could have been his first ever BRP CanAm tour victory.

The show of the night was Bruce Miller’s run from 23rd at the start to second at the checkers. This earned the second generation race car driver the Dart Machinery Hard Charger Award. Hard Charger, but he wanted the win.

The final five laps were outstanding with Waters in front, Miller bottom feeding in second, and Glenn Whritenour on the top. Most of those five laps they were side-by-side.  Side-by-side racing with no contact in an incredible show at Ted White’s Steuben County “Bullring” that will have race fans talking all season long.

The father son duo of Mike Wonderling and Jeremy Wonderling completed the top five with Mike (father) prevailing in what must have made great breakfast conversation on Saturday morning.

Larry Knowles, Dusty Waters, Brian Knowles, Mikey Wonderling and Jerry Wilson, a Series rookie, rounded out the top ten in Tour event # 2 of 2012 and the 105th Tour
event since 2003.

The 24 A-main starters of the 29 entries were determined by four heats, a B-Main, and two provisional starting spots.  Heat race winners were Mike Wonderling, Sean Lias, John Waters, and Glenn Whritenour. Dusty Waters won the B-Main.  Bruce Miller and Steve LeBarron used their provisional starter option to make the A.
