Title: 2019 ROC MODIFIED TOUR SCHEDULE
Post by: BOZO6106 on January 06, 2019, 08:08:53 AM
I know it is still early in the year but with the demise of Spencer and Lancaster what does this years schedule look like.I see 5 races at Holland and 5 at Chemung and 1 at Jakusa and 2 at Lake Erie.

the silence is killing me re Lancaster. Really hoping the ROC folks can lease the place for a show or two. Perhaps Jukasa can be coerced into a second race---seems like money is no object there with the owners. Unfortunately ROC kind of shot themselves in the foot re getting a tour mod show at Delaware (London) Ont. as the ROC sportsman race last season only had 9 cars (two were last minute locals that showed for start and park)after having 20 the year before. Credit to Delaware, they paid the advertised purse but making them run the full 75 laps on a really hot Sept day was torture for all involved. Part of the problem was the US Open and ROC races were shortly afterwards.  This year Delaware seemed to have booked the much cheaper Oscaar crate sportsman mods as support in a couple ISMA shows.  Wondering if ROC will have to look at eastern tracks like Evergreen.  Not sure if Wyoming County would consider another "big" mod show after likely taking a physical bath with the attendance at their American Racer show in 2017. Your thoughts???

I pray you are correct Rob. I know a lot of fans have been complaining re no schedules from various tracks, but correct me if I'm wrong, but in many cases before electronic media, we never got the schedules and found out what the tracks were doing until the March car shows. The racing papers that were around in that era were monthly during the winter so maybe we should just wait it out and hope for the best.
As far as Perry, I think if the track was rented for an ROC show, then the tire deal might be moot

I will definitely say Delaware has the best pit food, including indoor air conditioned seating. The bacon cheeseburgers are delicious..

You will see a show or 2 at Spencer someone will lease it also someone already had a walk through at Lancaster so sounds like that will be changing hands plus they already do have 2 "tentative" dates at Lancaster for isma.  As far as Wyoming goes even if someone (ROC) was to rent I just can't see it being profitable although that track puts on some of if not the best side by side of any Bullring around. Look for a schedule to be out at the beginning of February

Just saw this on facebook - "Great news for upstate New York racing as the Chemung Speedrome has been leased and will reopen for the 2019 season. Details will be released shortly."

Didn't know Chemung was in danger of not opening. Had only heard Lancaster and Spencer.

I agree. "Social media" has changed a LOT of things in our lives....

Evans mills will be running Modifieds again this season. Lee Gill has purchased the track and has a Modified Teams meeting set for January 19 at the Evans Mills Fire Barn at 1 pm. Looking for some input from the teams.

Mills Mods as they refer to them. Sportsman we know them as.  The ROC Sportsman ran there last year.

I know its winter but come on people .I can clearly see why asphalt racing in New York is heading down the drain.I have been trying to spark a discussion on the fate of this years ROC modified tour and no one cares.I have fully supported the tour for years and have spent thousands of dollars to do so.I love the ROC tour and want to see it succeed in spite of the track closings etc.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, maybe you should calm down a little bit. Imagine what your angst would be if you owned an $80,000 modified.....An obviously difficult situation with the future of multiple tracks that are up in the air. I'm sure Joe Skotnicki is doing everything possible to put together a viable schedule. Hopefully, Lancaster and/or Spencer can still be part of it........kt

As Mark Twain once intoned "“The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”

I wouldn't give up on the ROC just yet.

IF Larry Otts' Buffalo News column regarding Lancaster is correct (and I have no doubt that Larry double and triple checks his info before submitting it for publishing), the current owner of Lancaster is interested only in selling the track--he has emphatically said that he is not interested in someone leasing the facility--which, unless a deal is made quickly--means "renting" the facility for a few races could not happen!

So, all we can hope for is a permanent solution! (My highly optimistic guess is that some private negotiating is going on, since the residents of the town of Clarence have been praying for this day to come and then, the REAL headaches might be tough to overcome!!!)  JMO

From what I've compiled from previous releases from ROC (Joe) and solid, credible sites from around the 'net;  the ROC schedule has these dates and tracks...

May 18 – Chemung Speedrome

June 15 – Lake Erie Speedway

July 6 – Hillside

July 13 – Jukasa Motor Speedway

August 3 – Chemung Speedrome

September 26-28 – Race of Champions 250 – Lake Erie

Since I believe (my own opinion) that the Lancaster situation is still somewhat fluid--meaning negotiations may still be going on and an agreement on selling price continues to be the only stumbling block...until that is finished, one way or the other, the fate of the track will continue to be unknown.  Obviously, more information is highly desired by competitors and spectators alike!  I am also in agreement with the statement that the upcoming racing schedules were unknown until the mid-winter and spring racing"shows" (such as Syracuse and others). It's true that social media has changed the game but bellyaching and demanding schedules to be released RIGHT NOW serves  no real purpose, other than stoking rumors and misinformation.  Besides, schedules are "always tentative and subject to change".  Of course, I've also heard all kinds of rumors myself but I prefer to wait until things become official!

What good would it be if schedules would be released too early but then change rapidly?  NOBODY would be happy about that, either! So, have some patience and things will be released as soon as possible!  As soon as info comes to us, it will be posted in the PR/Results section...
