The last one is from 1987...Dave lukowski photos...and a little story about the cat in the top picture. When I was younger (much younger) I used to baby sit his mothers beer cooler at the track. Her only stipulation was that I limit myself to one!

Wow..That was fun. A little more to the beer cooler story. I was rooting for Alan Johnson along side his mom ( might of had something to do with having the same last name or that I was a Cagle hater, can't remember which). She told they me had a younger son that was just itching to go racing but they couldn't let him quite yet because, in her words, he was just too nuts.
I have a old book of photos from Area Auto Racing News (circa 1971) that a friend has lent me...It is a treasure trove of awesome photos from the sixties...I'll start posting as soon as I can

As promised...A friend lent me a old book of 1960's photos. It's titled "Area Auto Racing News....a look at the sixties"  This will take awhile, so have patience. a nod to my bud Jeff Brown for lending this out. For anyone who doesn't know Jeff, he is an awesome fabricator of both racecars and stories...He built the BRP car that Steve Kent owns and that Dale Welty drove to a championship at Blackrock this year....The first photo is  Gene Goodling with checkers after winning at Lincoln Speedway.(King photo)
