Sunny where is your hotel? I ask because 85 is a nightmare currently with all the construction. Google Maps will be your best friend, before you go anywhere, check it and make sure you're taking the best route. As for food, Twin Peaks is one of my favorites. Along with The Smoke Pit in Concord and East Coast Wings. If you like any other type of food just let me know and I'll help where I can. As for the World Finals event, it's always a good one and very well run. I wont be at it this year because we will be racing at Concord Speedway for the North/South Shootout. Any other questions feel free to ask.

You should be able to take 49 from your hotel and avoid most of the traffic.

The route that Mapquest shows is 15 to 81 to 77. Where does 85 come in to play?

Getting to and from the track. Also if you go to Concord or a surrounding area it will most likely take you on 85. Just check Google Maps before you go anywhere to check the traffic. Id hate for you to get on 85 and get stuck for hours on your way to the track. Also your hotel isn't in the greatest part of Charlotte. Make sure to lock your doors at night.

I'm a planner, so I always get anxious. Like to have all my ducks in a row, if you know what I mean.

I know my hotel is probably 20 minutes or so from the track, and I know Friday and definitely Saturday will be the busiest days, so I want to make sure I have everything ready to rock.

Is it best to get your passes in advance, or can you buy them at the pit shack?

20 minutes from the track is misleading. It can take 20 minutes to go 5 miles. Traffic is insane on I-77 and I-85. I stay with friends in Moorseville and over the last 5 years I have found the back ways around I-77. It is an awesome event. Parking usually isn't an issue. We renew our tickets every year while we are there and a 3 day pass which includes pit passes is right at $100. Thats cheap when you consider most events are charging $30-$40 each day for just a pit pass.

:D  Sunny, I'm gonna bet after this trip you will have a whole new order to your list of favorite races and tracks.  Have fun and enjoy it there.

Well, I am pretty fond of Eldora and Georgetown. You think this tops them, Rich?

It's on a totally different level than Eldora. The food is WAY more expensive though. Make sure you have comfortable walking shoes if you plan on going to the LM or Mod pits. From the grand stands it's about a  1/2 mile walk by the time you get around to the other side of the track and down into the pit area.

You want to take Exit 25 off of Rt.77 and go east on Rt.73.This will take to Rt. 85.Take Exit 49 off of Rt.85,this is Bruton Smith Drive. This is the road the track is on.

I was told if you get there early enough, they let you drive into the pits? The comments above is why I asked about cart rental. Isn't the pit grandstand closer?
