67TH ANNUAL RACE OF CHAMPIONS 250 PART OF PRESQUE ISLE DOWNS & CASINO RACE OF CHAMPIONS WEEKEND

-Ted Christopher to be Inducted into Race of Champions Hall of Fame-

-Plenty of Midway Action During the Race of Champions Weekend-

North East, Pennsylvania – (September 27, 2017) – Several dignitaries will be in attendance to perform several important duties throughout the weekend as part of the Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania this coming weekend.


Jeff Favre, the Vice President and General Manager of Presque Isle Downs and Casino will give racers “The most famous words in Motorsports”, while Mark Jeanneret, Event Director for the Erie Sports Director will wave the green flag to start the 67th Annual Race of Champions 250 on Saturday, September 30.
 
US Army Staff Sergeant, Christopher Truffa of Vandergrift, Pennsylvania will sing the national anthems on Friday, September 29 and Saturday, September 30. Truffa joined the US Army in 2004 as a Computer and Special Electronics Technician. He has been stationed in Georgia, Texas, Colorado and Hawaii, as well as being a participant in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Truffa is currently the Center Leader for the US Army Recruiting Center based out of Erie, Pennsylvania.
 
In addition to car owner Ed McGuire of Rome, Pennsylania and announcer, Joe Marotta of Syracuse, N.Y., being inducted in to the Race of Champions Hall-of-Fame, Ted Christopher of Plainville, Connecticut will be inducted on Saturday prior to the 67th Annual Race of Champions 250.


Several displays will be on hand in the midway along with the US Army, Pennsylvania State Troopers, Area Auto Racing News and 07 Racing Collectibles. The US Army will have free give-away items for the event.

Following practice on Thursday at 8:00pm it will be show time in the midway for “One Hell of a Racing Party” with recording artists Eddie Lee and Closing Time. If you attend practice or are inside the track prior to 7:00pm, you can watch practice free and then stay to watch the band perform a two-hour set of popular country, rock and roll and their own written and recorded music. If you are entering the speedway after 7:00pm there will be a $5.00 cover charge.
 
If you are planning to attend the Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend and camp at the facility, spots are being sold at the track for the designated camping areas. The Race of Champions is a sanctioning body presenting Modified and Stock Car racing on asphalt and dirt surfaces throughout the Northeast, with events in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The 67th annual Race of Champions weekend will take place in 2017 at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania as part of Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend and is the second longest consecutive auto-racing event in North America, second only to the Indianapolis 500.
