If you see something that interests you and you want more info on it, just type in the name of the movie and the date ie:  The Love Bug (1969)    This will take you to info sites the best of which  seems to be imdb.com  ( I searched high and low on the web for a list like this and to my knowlege there is nothing out there like it. If I have missed your favorite racing movie , let me know!)

Pretty impressive list, I didn't realize there were so many films made, especially the early ones.

Even thought it wasn't an ACTUAL race. The last 25 minutes of The Road Warrior has some pretty good racing in it. The crash at the end beats any REAL race crash.

yeah...actually Raod Warrior is one of my favorite movies, but much like Smokey and the Bandit, there are no numbers on the sides...hence the list title "Racing Movies List"...they weren't racing...they were surviving!

There was a silent movie about Eddie Rickenbacker....I think it was called "The shooting star". Mostly about his flying exploits in WWI, but still had some early racing footage in it.

Rickenbacker ran Indianapolis between the wars...some would say he ran it into the ground. I looked for that flick and couldn't find any info...maybe someone else will have better luck.

The Last American Hero was on last night but I only got to catch the second half. It ended with them racing at Martinsville and it looked just like I remember it when I went... in October of '77!  :-\

How about "The Quick and the Dead" released in 1978, a F1 documentary narrated by Stacy Keech. Repackaged in 2002 and newly titled Champions Forever-The Formula One Drivers.

Excellent documentary with incredible F1 footage.

I didn't see Heart Like a Wheel on the list(s). Shirley Muldowney story.
