NYSS Gary Marshall Memorial Race - Rules/Race Info
« on: February 23, 2015, 12:56:40 PM »
Rules see nysuperstocks.com

Read the intake rule close, if the intake you want to use is NOT listed, i need the part # and a picture sent to ok it.
(this is to keep some radiacal intake from being used)

For this race pre-tech will be done
- Please plan on being to the track 2 hours earlier than normal
- Be ready to have a valve cover removed
- Be ready to have the compression tested
- A visual check will also be done - example: clucth, wheel base, engine set back, suspension
- Cars will be checked for lockers

Be prepared to NOT race if the car doesn't go through tech

There is a Big Payout for this race and cars need to be the rules

Who's doing the compression test? and are we doing it the proper way wich includes pulling all spark plugs and using. Wrench? Not one spark plug and rocking the car back and forth?

The WHISTLER is an electronic device that instantly determines the compression ratio of virtually any engine.

Using the WHISTLER is easy, just remove a spark plug and screw the WHISTLER adapter in its place. Enter the number of cylinders, CID, and temperature of the engine into the WHISTLER. Then, bring the engine to TDC and the unit will display the compression ratio to the nearest tenth of a point.

All you need is a low volume air source and a 120V AC supply
• Works with 4, 6, or 8 cylinder engines
• Cubic inches from 6 to 600
• Engine temperature range 30 to 200 deg f

Im not here to argue.  I put the first nysuperstock race together in 2012 and have learned so much in three seasons.  We did pre tech at AIS in Sep 2014 for the fall finale.  This worked great. Anytime we do a big race, pre tech will be done. If you want to pull all spark plugs you can. We only need one out for the test.  Also the teams will need to have the car on jack stands prior to us looking at it. I will have a third party tech there for problem car's to confirm a issue. At the Dave London Memorial race Jan Leaty is the third party.  What a great race this is going to be. I have had so many calls. We were talking last night and today about how many car's can start the race.  24 is max with 1/2 provisionals. As of now we will have a B main race.  Probably 20 laps and the top two will move on to the feature.  Tim & Tara Gullo & Ray Marshall are raising some serious money. I can't thank them enough.

You don't have to pull all the plugs to get a correct whistler read, you can pull all if you want to BUT you do need a legal engine.

It's the tuber "cubic inch" gage that needs all of the plugs pulled and the engine has to be spun over to get a read.
