Perry, NY (January 2, 2019);  Happy New Year from the Officials and staff at ‘The Bullring’, Wyoming County International Speedway. This season looks to continue on track with the past three years of continual growth. Each division is expanding every year with new interest and new team participation.

The newest division, added to the WCIS schedule of events the past couple of years is the 6-Cylinder Stock Division. This class was created to develop entry level interest for racing at the 1/3rd mile asphalt oval. The rules require the teams to maintain guidelines while building there racing machines, therefore keeping the competition close. Teams are encouraged to support fellow racers as they all grow within the sport. The rules are relatively simple; remove the interior of your American made, front wheel drive 6-cylinder car, the side glass and exterior lights. Weld in a roll cage according to the safety rules, register a number, and paint it up like your favorite racing hero (or cartoon character as we have seen), then head to the track for Wednesday evening open practices. This growing division will be added to the Saturday Night schedule of events weekly in 2019 due to popular demand.

Another way to start off in the exciting world of SST racing is to join the 4-Cylinder competition. This season the division will be divided up into an entry level (Stock) group and a (Pro) group allowing certain modifications. Both groups will race at the same time, but will be celebrated separately in winners circle. This diverse division will still enjoy the full field of competition, but will recognize the efforts of the young racer as well. Kids can begin racing 4-Cylinder Stock at the age of 14 with parental consent. See the WCIS rules as they are modified to accommodate both groups (posted mid-end of January).

Vintage Stock Cars (VSC) are a way to remember the days of racing past, with the flare of ‘Way-Cool’ Hot Wheels mixed in. This division was designed for the racer who can’t commit to racing every week, but loves the memories of the old Late Model or Modified of yesterday. This class is also a way to use up old parts and sheet metal, too far gone to restore for the road. The rules are basic, and leave much to the imagination of the builder. A VSC Bullring race day mimics a cruise night of “Rat Rod Racers” in the midway, and high speed competition trackside. See the 2019 Schedule of events for a listing of VSC dates.

Now for the Bullring “Flagship Divisions”: The SST Super Stock and SST Modified. Two diversely different divisions, providing the maximum amount of entertainment and competition in the region. The SST Super Stock is a full bodied machine that resembles quite closely to the Cup Cars of the 80’s. The SST Modified, who since their inception, continue to attract the attention of the open wheel community as a leader of circle track competition. Both divisions have been building up a clientele of superior teams and drivers that compete together, as motor sport professionals.  Individually striving for top finishes at a racetrack that has the ability to eat up and spit out racecars. The Bullring is a very fast and competitive facility, so learning to manipulate the banking and fellow drivers is a skill that the veterans of short track racing endure. As each season builds up, it requires more patience and understanding that finishing fourth may be better than wrecking a third place competitor.

Opening Day is set for Saturday, May 18th, 2019 at 7:00 pm. Get there early for practice and late registration.
