Racing Discussion / Spencer Speedway 2019 season schedule
« on: November 24, 2018, 02:54:44 PM »
Any one  know when they will release next years schedule? If they even have a season. Has anyone hear anything?

The Nee York Super Stock 50 lap Dave London memorial at Spencer speedway.

Pops Leaty 75 lap RoC also at Spencer speedway. Lots of big names in modified racing as well as Ryan Press of Nascar Infinity racing. It was an exciting race from start to finish with Matt Hirshman in his red #60 car finishing just ahead of Preese's #6 tribute to the late great driver Maynard Troyer.
It was an awesome night!

What an awesome night of racing!! I had high expectations going into the race,  with some of the best drivers in the east coast and I wasn't disappointed!

Congratulations Mike Leaty! You and your crew put on one of the best shows in years. You ran a great race as well. Congrats to Matt Hirshman on his exciting win and a special shout out to Ryan Preese, it was a joy to watch this young star compete with the best RoC drivers in the east. It was a truly memorable experience!

This is the second year in a row this has happened. The #8 car was disqualified and they gave the win to Tommy Catalano. But it took a couple days to find out.
There doesn't seem to be any repercussions for being caught cheating, other than taking the win away. I believe they should be suspended for awhile at the least.

Thanks 94, that's too bad. It was a great race either way. I really enjoyed the show they put on and seeing so many fans in the stands!! Can't wait to the next Dave London memorial!

I am very disappointed in the number of races and the elimination of the modified class. I've been going to Spencer since the early 70's. This is by far my favorite track and I always look forward to Friday race night. I hope next season they will return to a full racing schedule with the modified class reinstated.

I was at the race last year, (great turnout and great racing) but I am confused about the ending. Why did the winner of the race refuse inspection at the end of the race? Which gave Catalano the win? I love the NYSS series and try to make every race. But I wish this was cleared up. Looking forward to this NYSS season and the Dave London Memorial. What a great event you have made this.
Looking forward to this year and hope NYSS keeps growing!

That was an awesome night of racing! I haven't seen the stands so packed in years! Tommy ran a outstanding race. My hats off to Spencer Speedway and NYSS.

Chris Finochhario has been disqualified. Tommy Catalano in the number 54 car is declared the winner. I got this information from Spencer Speedway themselves.

I don't understand why there is no official report. It's as if it's being covered up. Us fans who spent our hard earned money deserve to know who won the race.

Thank you Race fan. I want to thank Jody London for this great event. The races were some of the most exciting races I've seen in a while. Bobby Lippa does a great job running the NYSS series. It's unfortunate that one driver feels it necessary to break the rules. That doesn't change the fact that the NYSS has some great drivers who really love racing and I for one appreciate all the effort they put into it. Without them there wouldn't be racing.

Thank you for your well thought out responses. I never said I was an expert flag man. I don't believe you have to be one to know a bad one when you see it.

The NYSS heats were great, the consolation race was fun. But.....I hate to be a downer. There were a few things about the main event that bothered me and pretty much everyone around me as well. This division has been dominated by pretty much one car all season. So what do they do? Put that dominant car in the pole position were it lead from start to finish. Tommy Catalano did try to make a race of it, he came from all the way back at the 21st position. But of course the the number 8 car of Chris Finichirio(sp?) was too much for the Catalano car. I don't have a problem with having a strong car, but in the New York super stocks, you have one car, with a lot of money put into it I would assume and 40 street beaters. It gets repetitive and boring race after race. I've been traveling around all summer this year following them around the state and beyond. I did that because the racing last year was so much more competitive and entertaining. A few different drivers had a legitimate shot at winning. The other cars in this group are pretty evenly matched. I've been watching racing and going to local tracks for over 40 years, this class of racing (NYSS), I don't think I'll be following around next year. Unless they have more cars that can actually compete. Oh well, congrats #8 Chris Finichirio for winning again.
One more thing, the flag man at Spencer speedway was horrible. Probably the worst I've seen in years. They seriously need to address that next year. There were many fans in the stands that were quite upset with him.

You can't rule out Steffenhaggen. He has a new car and always seems to run well at spencer speedway. It's going to be a crazy fun race to watch! I can't wait!
