The NYSS heats were great, the consolation race was fun. But.....I hate to be a downer. There were a few things about the main event that bothered me and pretty much everyone around me as well. This division has been dominated by pretty much one car all season. So what do they do? Put that dominant car in the pole position were it lead from start to finish. Tommy Catalano did try to make a race of it, he came from all the way back at the 21st position. But of course the the number 8 car of Chris Finichirio(sp?) was too much for the Catalano car. I don't have a problem with having a strong car, but in the New York super stocks, you have one car, with a lot of money put into it I would assume and 40 street beaters. It gets repetitive and boring race after race. I've been traveling around all summer this year following them around the state and beyond. I did that because the racing last year was so much more competitive and entertaining. A few different drivers had a legitimate shot at winning. The other cars in this group are pretty evenly matched. I've been watching racing and going to local tracks for over 40 years, this class of racing (NYSS), I don't think I'll be following around next year. Unless they have more cars that can actually compete. Oh well, congrats #8 Chris Finichirio for winning again.
One more thing, the flag man at Spencer speedway was horrible. Probably the worst I've seen in years. They seriously need to address that next year. There were many fans in the stands that were quite upset with him.
