Now some of these sites may need you to download a player or some other little things to work. But I have watched TV and sports plus a chit load of FREE new movies on these sites without problems. I no-longer need cable. A $70.00 plus savings a mo. Good luck

PS - I use AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011 from http://www.cnet.com/ and it keeps me safe.

***Every once in a while some sites try and get ya to do stuff - If any of these channels ask you to do a survey or anything like that just leave the site, I don't do any surveys!

RAMJET, Do you have a digital converter box?  If "YES" you won't be affected. If "NO" then maybe Time Warner is just slinging fertilizer.

Ron, I do not have a converter box.

This same kind of crap was threatened earlier this year by Time Warner vs. Fox and last year by TW vs. Disney/ABC. Does anybody else sense a pattern here? It's another greed issue for all which leaves the paying customer out in the cold (like that's anything new!)...Ostensibly, in each case, TW believes the opposing parties are always the "evil" ones by charging TW more to carry the programming and poor ol' TW tries their darnedest to try to hold costs down so as to not raise customer rates (which still happens from time to time anyway).  Huh? How and when did this happen?  If we had more cable companies to choose from, this probably wouldn't happen.  But the apparent fear of competition by these entities who somehow convinced the government (through the  FCC) that a monopoly applies to these corporations. Thankfully, this kind of thinking doesn't affect local "open air" channels or their respective networks...YET!

I still don't know who's telling the truth. Did SPEED Channel mandate how Time Warner is to transmit their signal, or is Time Warner trying to rent more digital converters? So far we know that one poster on Adams Cable is still getting SPEED Channel WITHOUT a digital converter box.

SPEED Chaneel in HD? I DON'T WANT IT! The thought of Dave Despain or Kenny Wallace in high definition takes away my appetite. I would enjoy watching the Rolex cars at the Glen in HD, though.

Since I don't have satellite, you guys who do can answer this question for me...
Do you need a digital converter box at each tv?  If your answer is "yes", then it doesn't matter if you have cable or satellite, because you have to rent the boxes either way. Am I correct?

If SPEED Channel mandated this change, then all I can say is "to hell with SPEED Channel."  For me to rent just ONE converter box will cost $100 per year. "SPEED Channel...  you're not worth $100/year."

IF ANYONE has a friend or relative who subscribes to Comcast (the other 800 pound gorilla in the cable industry) I'd like to hear if they are required to rent a converter box to get SPEED.

THE NEXT STEP is to contact HOME DEPOT, SAHLENS, GOLDEN CORRAL, and all the other major advertisers/event sponsors on SPEED and let them know they are reaching a smaller audience. They deserve a reduction in their advertising and sponsorship contracts.

your all missing the boat folks. here is how to "gitter done". you get direct tv and the total package with all the movie channels and even the playboy and hustler smutties! you get the five receiver plan and get the 5 boxes. put the bill in one persons name. pass out the 5 boxes to different friends and split the bill 5 ways each month and wallah, your down to less than $40 per person. true, you will all need a separate "dish" but you can use your current one that is already installed or pick one up at any scrap yard or landfill. i have more satellite dishes than receivers and i am not even a collector! it gets better still. in the future each time you want to lessen your payment you find a friend and simply add another box(room) to your account and before long if you have enough friends you can all have all the tv you want for $6.99 a month or less. its all about finding creative ways to achieve your goal. thats what any good chief does to end up being a winner. you see, you have to know how the system works before you can work the system!
just call it the friendly network. i know there are certain people with no friends but thats what those digital converter boxes and rabbit ears are for. people with no friends and the politicians!  8)  8)  8)   8)  8)

Funny thing is I just ditched direct TV for TW a couple weeks ago. I now have HD service and whole house dvr with phone and internet 22 times faster than what I had and its costing me $60 a month less than what I was paying. I still watch the same 4 channels but now in HD.
