ED MCGUIRE AND JOE MAROTTA TO BE INDUCTED TO RACE OF CHAMPIONS HALL-OF-FAME

Buffalo, N.Y. – (September 5, 2017) – Several dignitaries will be honored as a part of the pre-race ceremonies for the 67th Annual Race of Champions, a part of Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania.
 
Legendary car owner, Ed McGuire of Rome, Pa., and one of the all-time greatest announcers in the history of racing in the Northeast, Joe Marotta, will join the Race of Champions Hall of Fame.
 
McGuire has a history with the Race of Champions that has spanned several decades including being a part of the winning team with driver T.J. Potrzebowski of Elmira, N.Y., who won in 2006 as well as dating back to driving in the National Parts Peddler Street Stock race that was part of Race of Champions Weekend at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway.
 
“I am very humbled by this honor,” offered McGuire. “This means so much to me, my family and my team. This race has meant a great deal to us over the years.”
 
Marotta of Syracuse, N.Y., became a staple of the event in 1996 when the race was moved to Oswego (N.Y.) Speedway. During his time being a part of the announcing team that has called the Race of Champions, Marotta also became won the Lenny Sammons award in conjunction with announcing pioneer Jack Burgess, which was presented and inducted into the Dirt Northeast Hall of Fame. Marotta followed Burgess as the voice of the New York State Fairgrounds, Oswego and several weekly short tracks including Weedsport, Rolling Wheels and Spencer Speedway which is still his Friday night home.
 
“This is quite an honor for me,” stated Marotta. “Racing has been a huge part of my life and I have had the honor of working with some of the best people in the sport. This is another great honor for me and I am very thankful for all of the people who made it possible.”
 
The Hall of Fame Inductees will be honored in a pre-race ceremony just prior to the 67th Annual Race of Champions 250.
