Mark Newton in row 2 at Martinsville?  The 55 was my brothers favorite; anyone know how many races he won?

Yes, that's him in row two with his #55 Vega at Martinsville in 1979 behind George Kent #41 and Richie Evans #61 and next to Ron Bouchard #7.
Mark won three Modified features in his career and they all came in July 1978: Lancaster (7/1), Perry (7/9) and Spencer (7/28).
He passed away in August 2012 at age 57 after a battle with cancer.

Mark was an awesome guy. When we were redoing the fairgrounds track before it was raceway 5 we spent a lot of days reviving the old girl, but he still was ready to run the ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL..  R.I.P. OLE FRIEND..!!
