Racing Discussion / Re: Billys book
« on: January 12, 2021, 08:39:35 AM »
My younger brother racing "Billy Maynard" wrote a book as his health went downhill from being diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. At the time I thought he was doing it to ease his mind but now think he did it to ease ours.
By ours I mean the family, racing family and everyone he had ever crossed paths with. It was a limited published thing with 250 prepaid orders and sold out before arrival.
I put this here on RNY because I don't do the face things or any other  sites. Only here. Where the racers hang. Where Billy showed me how to keep up to date with the racing news.
I saw a lot of familiar buyers names on the mailing list and figure the most that knew him from his racing days would be the opinions I think he mostly was looking forward to. He struggled to get this done and he really struggled to get them all autographed.
He got it done.

Racing Discussion / you all know
« on: October 29, 2019, 09:11:42 PM »
how much i enjoy racing. been doing it for 34+ years. i must confess to having as much fun running in the middle as much as i have running in the front in years past.
i get the most out of watching the faces of the youngsters with the desire to get behind the wheel, i mean who knows who the next picasso will be if you don't give the young ones a brush to put to the canvas?
i am pretty proud of the 9 top nine season point tallies at the hill speedway and at the point combined with my young guns.
i will start from the hill where trevor williams earned a well deserved 3rd place in the fwd class. along with recognition for perfect attendance. fellow team members recorded 7th, 8th, and 9th in points. greg slater led the pack with owen clark in 8th and john maynard just one point behind in the 9th spot.
there were also a few stand in drivers through the season, kevin clark, dalton maynard, lou spawls, joel austin, phil clapper, zach mills and anyone i missed, sorry.
then we get to the point. randy lane led the pack as the only expert division car out of the jam shop this year. finishing fourth in points fresh off his 2018 championship season in the novice division, he is a strong contender for rookie of the year honors in the expert class.
in the novice division 14 year old young gun owen clark trudged his way to a respectable third place finish in just his first season of racing. three year veteran 17 year old ashley slater saw her career best season finally in the 4th place in season standings.
newcomer 13 year old austin slater finished a respectable seventh place behind the seasoned veteran of john maynard who recorded sixth place.
it was a season of first's and a memorable one at that. owen clark gave jam motorsports its first rollover experience and over achieved while doing so. a rollover with an end over end had the crowd gasping as the dust settled.
it was also the first time as a multiple car owner that i got to drive all of my cars at least once somewhere throughout the year.
winning the heath memorial was a memorable experience for me also.

now we await the team party and the point banquet. we are building the upcoming season plans as we await.
dawn and i would like to thank all our fans and supporters, and you to randy mosier!

i haven't had a contract in over 4 years with them, they trap you into them with equipment upgrades such as hd and those types of modifications. face it, its all a money grab.
who didn't fall for the music industries reel to reel, 8 track, cassette, dvd, and the new whatever they call its? my fm radio still plays all the tunes i care to hear. remember the am radio shutdown that never happened? it created sirius or satellite radio programming. more money grabbed.
i just won't pay more to watch anything that costs more a month than it costs to insure and keep 2 vehicles on the road legally per month.
at&t bought direct tv which already owned dish network. what is happening is at&t killing off the direct tv side with outrageous pricing to bankrupt it so they won't have to own up to the employees pensions and retirements down the road.
the government taught them how to do it with the 38 hour a week jobs that don't require employer provided benefits such as unemployment and ss. what do think caused our nations health care crisis.
like the old fella told me, before its over you will have a wheelbarrow full of money and won't be able to buy a loaf of bread with. i will be well stocked with wheel barrows full of green paper and put it to good use when toilet paper is unaffordable.
i will store them in the basement of my outhouse outback by my still, i will use the liquid from the still to keep them rinsed of just in case the come back in style after the depression. that is the only reset button on the financial video game.
the guy that told me this lived thru the depression and never played a video game in his life. so hence my translation into the language of these modern times.
it ain't how much you make, its how much you keep. and maybe how you kept it!

i ain't sure who's doing the sport the most or least damage. i thought that these 2 teamed up to save each other but this direct tv crap has sealed the deal for me.
after being a custmoer for 20+ years i have had it. had to buy a special package to get fs2 for the racing, then they took it off with no warning and kept charging for the package. went thru the same ole crap with abc, comedy central, now nbc. i think they just lost another customer. i will treat them as they treated me. no notice.
if i have to watch to the race on the radio i can watch the news on it to. more time and $ for my race cars so its a win, win, win deal no matter how i look at it.

they tell me i have a contract with them and i told them contracts work 2 ways, i had a contract with them for these missing channels until they broke it. contact cancelled by me.

Press Releases and Results / Re: The Hill Speedway - Quick Results 8/31/18

greg raced the feature in the car that karlie drove in the heat. i think he broke an axle shaft in his.
they probably didn't report the driver change as normally required at all of the tracks i have been to when one changes cars, driver changes should start tail and that didn't happen.
so i guess i was sent to tech for finishing 6th and being only 5 cars were there in tech lane someone got away with something.
i did notice the rwd cars were the only ones to race 30 laps for the features and now karlie and greg are missing. i hope they find them!

no need on my part. other than envelope dollars it won't make a difference to me. the points how ever could make a difference to a season long racer. after looking at the envelope i see i signed for 6th and that is the envelope i got so the bad is on me for not having my glasses and flashlight with me. i do wonder how matt browning is listed as a dns and in 4th. after seeing that and watching bob pull off the track i think i may have even been 4th.

Bob Schultz pulled in early, i was 5th. the pay was correct but the points may make a difference to the season guys.

update: 300th start plans fell as fast as the fuel pressure did in the heat. no feature start recorded so we will give it a shot another day. :(

i put the mailbox on the hood of one once to make it useful. came in handy lawn mowing time. just back her up and mow then put it back. seemed to take just long enough to warm her up.
i ended up parting that one out. made more than i was asking for the whole car and had parts left to give away.
race car math. 1 dollar = .05 cents if your lucky.
