FIVE MILE POINT SPEEDWAY NATIONAL QUARTER MILE DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND THIS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. SATURDAY PROGRAM GROWS AS MODIFIED “DASH FOR CASH” ADDED.
KIKRWOOD, NY…Five Mile Point Speedway plays host to the National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend this Saturday and Sunday at the popular quarter mile oval. Racing on Saturday begins at 6 p.m. with racing on Sunday set for 5 p.m. Kids 12 years old and younger will be admitted FREE in the grandstand area both days.
The National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend will decide the Summer Slam Championships in Modifieds, Crate Sportsman, Street Stocks, Wingless Sprints and Xcel 600 Modifieds over two days. On Saturday the Factory Stock teams will also be part of the mix with their biggest paying race of the season along with the Xcel Touring 600 Modified Series. In addition, the touring GRIT Crate Sportsman Series will be in action on Sunday along with the Fantastic Five Four Cylinder title race on Sunday.
Saturday’s already big racing card has grown recently as a special Modified “Dash for Cash” has been added. The Dash is open to any Modified team. The 12 lap race will pay $250 to win and $50 for all cars that take the green. The Modified teams will also have the benefit of several practice rounds during the evening to prep for the Shakelton NAPA Auto & Truck Parts Sunday Summer Slam Championship on Sunday.
Currently Anthony Perrego is a perfect “three for three” in the previous Modified Summer Slam events at Five Mile Point Speedway this season. Perrego, a regular at the Orange County Fair Speedway is also their weekly Big Block Modified Track Champion. Danny Creeden sits in second place in the standings with last year’s Summer Slam Champion and track regular Nick Rochinksi currently in third place. Two-time Five Mile Point Speedway Track Champion Shaun Walker sits in fourth place with multi-time Track Champion Mike Colsten in fifth position entering Sunday. The title will be decided with extra points on the line this Sunday.
