Wet Weather Postpones Ransomville Speedway’s 60th Season Opener

RANSOMVILLE, NY…
(May 5 2017) The historic Ransomville Speedway has  postponed Opening Night presented by VP Race Fuels  as well as the Go-Kart program’s driving school and practice session scheduled for Saturday May 6th due to persistant rain showers throughout the week and throughout the day on Friday.

“We want to race as much as anyone but due to heavy rains that has not been possible” says Ransomville Speedway General Manager Jenn Martin. “We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we wait for Mother Nature. Fingers crossed we can get practice in on Wednesday May 10th at 7:15pm and the VP Race Fuels Opener on Friday May 12th” Martin says. The wet weather has left the facility very sauturated, especially in the pit area and the parking lot and management felt that the additional percipitation will make it difficult for racers and fans to enter and exit the property without any hassle.

The Ransomville Speedway Go-Kart driving school and practice session will now take place on Thursday May 11th with the season opener on the “Little R” scheduled for Thursday May 18th. “Thursday May 11th will have a driving school for new racers as well as those that need a refresher for those competing in the Junior 1 and 2 divisions” Martin said. “We felt it was important to still hold the training class for new, young racers as well as those needing a resfresher. We also want to give everyone a chance to have a practice and be sure all their off-season work has been successful” Martin says.

The Ransomville Speedway would like to remind everyone about the pit policy for children. The pits are open to anyone ages 12 and older. For kids ages 12-17, we need a copy of the child’s birth certificate to be put on file for the season plus the child’s parent to sign the consent form. “We ask for the parents to not assume that we have a copy of the birth certificate so that is why we are asking for a copy of the birth certificate so it can be on record and we thank everyone for their support in this matter” comments General Manager Jenn Martin.

Friday May 12th will be the 60th Season Opener presented by VP Racing Small Engine Fuels featuring a full card of racing of Krown Undercoating of Ransomville 358 Modifieds, Investors Service Sportsman, KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks, Gippsters Collision 4 Bangers and the Stevenson’s Hardware Novice Sportsman. Gates will swing open in the pits at 5:00pm with grandstands opening at 6:00pm with the first green flag of the season being waved at 7:15pm.
